If you've enjoyed dining at any of the handful of SushiSamba restaurants, you will absolutely adore…read moreTemakinho. And if you haven't, Temakinho will seductively introduce you to wonderful Asian fusion. Think Japanese with a Brazilian twist. Then, just go. My wife and I just had a wonderful dinner at the one nearest the Duomo in Milan. There are others around that city, and in Florence, Formentera, Ibiza, London, Rome, and Turin as well. Generous portions. Delicious, creative combinations. (The bao, or soft Chinese-style bun with shrimp and too many other wonderful elements for me to remember, was a revelation.) Fresh ingredients across the board. From ceviches to sushi rolls, we were impressed. An impressive array of beverages, alcoholic and otherwise. Desserts ranging from cheesecake to a simple dish of delectable mango and papaya slices. Warm, efficient service, even for us non-speakers of Italian. And a comfortably otherworldly dining room, from the pink wallpaper to the tile-and-glass-topped dining table to the eclectic, genre- and era-spanning background music. A total sensory experience. There's a rumor that New York City, which used to have multiple branches of SushiSamba but now has none, might soon gain a Temakinho outpost. My wife and I hope it happens in time for our next trip to my former hometown. In the meantime, if you live near or plan a visit to any of the cities that have a Temakinho, consider yourself lucky -- and go.

Food 3.5 Value 3…read moreService 3 Décor 5 Based on my friend's recommendations and the stellar Google/Tripadvisor reviews, I expected a LOT more from Temakinho. Bottom line: the rolls are decent, atmosphere is perfect for date night, but for what you pay for, it's not worth it. Service at this location was terribly slow as well. I came on a Saturday night with 3 other girlfriends and we ordered a bunch to share- - Salmon tartare - Pastel de pescado misto - Yakisoba nikkei noodles - Poke bowl - Crocante roll - Salmon gostado roll Don't order the yakisoba noodles-- they were bland and had boiled veggies on top. The rolls are probably the only thing worth ordering on the menu. My friend had raved about the salmon tartare so I went in with really high expectations, but I really was not all that impressed (albeit it was beautifully presented). It lacked flavor and spice. I also tried the mango saketini, which tasted good but not strong at all. Would I come here again? No.

This restaurant deserves 5 stars as their food better than I ever expected. Service is top notch…read moreand the attention to detail in the food presentation is incredible. Wanted to try more of their dishes and therefore opted to do à la carte.

Unfortunately due to some unforeseen circumstances, I fell ill in the earlier days and therefore had to try some more supposedly soothing items from their menu as opposed to their classic tasting menu which I was eager to try. These items unfortunately fell a bit flat (despite me having no appetite to send it back), but I feel like could perhaps be removed from their menu as a whole as their amuse buche really highlights their true potential. The restaurant exhibits the Milan elegance and high bar for quality of service which is a pleasant sight to see. (Amuse Buche: A+) - The best part of the meal, featuring a salted meringue with immense yuzu dashi flavors; a classic takoyaki, very crispy and fresh; and yuzu jelly, fresh and refreshing. (Forest Mocktail: B) - The aesthetic is a bit mundane, but I do like the tropical and citron notes coming through. (Ravioli in Broth: C) - This take on pork dumplings uses an unpleasanty thick dough and a very rough version of pork that is not pleasant in texture. I do like the flavors coming through with the cardamom in broth and spiciness from the dumpling though. (Yakisoba: F) - The conception of this dish is promising with a varied number of vegetables providing different textural elements, but the overall dish needs to be much more dry and cooked on a grill to not have a residual gravy. Furthermore, it is far too salty. Food: E Presentation: +1 Price: -1 Atmosphere: +1 Service: E Menu: +2 Overall: 4 stars Insta/Yelp/Beli/TikTok: @amei_eats
