Let me start out by listing the positives of the Ramen King experience:
1.
2.
3.
4.
Sorry, there wasn't a single good thing about the place.
Now let me take a moment to point out to the naysayers that my natural disposition and world view is generally a positive one which pays fuller attention to the bright aspects of life, fostering a carefree and relaxed mental attitude, which is at all times forgiving.
With that in mind, I will now briefly cover the negatives of our experience.
It was shite.
We arrived at 8:45 PM. 3 people in our group.
They accepted us as customers, but when the time came to order, the fumbling, bumbling waiter was unaware of any of the items on the menu, so we had to point out the numbers listed next to each menu item as he laboriously scribbled away on his notepad.
Eons later, when the waiter was done, he tallied up the menu items and asked us to pay up front. "Pay up front! What sort of a restaurant is this?", we mused.
They didn't bring us napkins, they didn't bring us bowls, and they didn't bring us chopsticks. We had to ask for them all, and they were brought with reluctance and a menacing scowl.
The food came. The waiter, a seeming imbocile, placed all four items in front of a single person, crowding out his table space with steam and boiling soups, flustering his cheeks with a flash of unbearable heat.
About a minute later, according to my watch, the imbocile returns with grave news. "It's time to leave because we're closing" he explains, the passive-aggressive tone not quite hidden by his slight unconfident bow.
Having accepted us as customers, and taken our money up front, under the rouse of providing an enjoyable meal, they betrayed our trust with their surprising manifesto: "sure, you can buy food here, as long as you don't intend on eating it!". The underlying subtext was clear.
Two minutes later, a second imbocile emerges, rudely asking us once again, while snatching away the majority of our plates and cutlery, without permission. She explains: "we are closing now, time to go".
"But we just arrived? How could this be?"
The kitchen staff emerge, along with the entire waiting battalion. They form an emcampment on nearby tables, glaring at us and staring us down with the unified message: "finish your meal and get the f**k out".
We took our time.
But we suggests you that unless you enjoy incompetent staff, rudeness, and passive aggressive behaviour, give this one a miss. There's plenty of other great restaurants in box hill that are cheaper, tastier, and will treat you kindly. The rating speaks for itself.
Yours sincerely,
