I visited Luyang on Wednesday and returned only three days later. Yes it is that good. While it may not be up to the Shanghai village or Hu Tong standards, the dumplings here are still good and are very cheap. I came here with my partner and we ordered a serving of the fried pork dumplings ($8 for 15 dumplings) and the steamed dumpling combination (around $12), which included a selection of different types of dumplings. The service is charming and the girls who wait on the tables are so friendly and efficient that you just have to sit back and relax. Luyang may not be luxurious or trendy but there is free tea on your tables, and some sweet dumplings are heading your way, so sit back and relax.

I changed the order and arranged for a pick up between 7 and 7.30 pm. I then received a message shortly after 7 to inform me that my order had been cancelled. Leaving me no time to arrange an alternative meal. I knew Chinese New Year's would be busy and placed my order several days in advance. This is the service I have received tonight from both China Bar and Uber eats. My guests and I will now be celebrating the New Year with what ever I can find. I am unlikely to find a quality Chinese restaurant that can deliver an authentic Chinese dinner for the celebration. Please keep this story in mind if using Uber Eats or ordering from China Bar. A cancellation with 2 hours notice would be unacceptable but for a cancellation at the exact time of the pick up is both incompetent and totally thoughtless.

The service was basic but effective. Super efficient to have us seated, provide us with tea, take our order and deliver us edible gold aka dumplings. We chose to try both a fried and a steamed option - opting for the steamed peking and fried chicken and prawn dumplings. The steamed serve arrived first and we eagerly tucked into the little packages of goodness. The fried serve was the next to arrive and these had to be eaten with a bit more care as the cases had almost seared closed in the frying process which meant they held in a lot of the heat (I burned my lip more than once!) - they could possibly have been taken out of the pan a minute earlier. It was just a problem with the fried dumplings as you were unable to devour them at the rate you desired (immediately!) because of the heat they were containing. Aerating them via chopstick with an added dose of patience and you were good to go. All in all, a delightful experience that has left me dreaming about my next dumpling fix!
