Used to be real nice park but after the hurricane now 5 months later it's a shit hole! No amenities but still want to charge full price. Only 1 bath/ laundry mat open. Generators running everywhere due to power still not restored to half the park.Pool not opened they claim they have to replace a section of fencing how about putting up a temp one? None of the buildings are open no activities except for the ones that the residents have started. Where they have restored the electrical it's a mud hole after a rain. The park's management does not care about its residents! Stay clear of this park until next season. read more

Great resort/campground! Right on the Myakka River with beautiful views. Lots of birds, gators, and fishing spots. The resort is gated, with nice clean bathrooms and laundry rooms. The sites are large and the campground is quite large and spread out with lots of room to bike or walk. They have plenty of weekly activities too like movie nights, music, and card nights. Oh and a very nice and very large pool and hot tub! Snook haven restaurant is just down the road too! All around a great campground! read more

Mud, flood and crud is everywhere! Many sites and roads under water. I would give this rating a zero if I could. We paid a premium rate for a premium resort site and got stuck in a site that is heavy traffic and we were packed in like sardines! The site is located on a very busy corner full of tire tracks and mud from recent rains. A little crushed rock on the site would be a welcome addition to at least the residents passing through the site. Our site had little room to safely put out the awning or chairs due to the mud and the constant passing traffic. NOT PREMIUM AT ALL! When I asked about another site I was told this one was the only one available. Yet, when I walk the dogs I see multiple sites open where we could have been relocated. The lady who checked us in stated this was a wonderful site. It is especially wonderful as there are two dilapidated park model trailers (at least 25 years old) right across the street from us to admire as we exit out our camper door. It seems these residents left for the hurricane about a year and a half ago and never came back! This is a park meant for permanent residents whose park models have deteriorated over time. It is not meant for weekends or short stays. They couldn't care less. Don't be fooled by their flashy website. I do not recommend Rambler's Rest RV Resort. They don't even have ice or a store. I am sorry we came and will never come back. Find another rv resort as this is no resort!!! I was overcharged and underwhelmed by their campsite! read more

The park is very nice and has several great amenities (pool, playground, etc.). Plenty of wildlife here also. Someone at the front desk is very rude on the phone. I called to ask a quick question and was given a rude response. ATTN: Rambler's Rest management. Please provide a training session on phone etiquette to your front desk employees. read more

Decent friendly park, clean and pet friendly. My problem is they are doing schedule water line maintenance during the busy season and took out the water line by mistake now 3 times in 1 one, wow.... why would you do scheduled maintenance during snowbird season, stupid. Each time they break the line there are boil restrictions in place. What an inconvenience this 3 times in 1 week and now 5 times over all so far. We won't be coming back..... read more

Don't expect to get your mail while you're there. We got a delivery confirmation that our package arrived Dec 17. It was even signed for by someone in the mail room, and we got a voicemail confirming the delivery. When our family went to the office to pick up the Christmas present for our 4yr old nephew, it has suddenly disappeared. I called and spoke to the manager, Kim. She took little interest in resolving the issue, she wanted me to talk to the mail room, but I already had and they were no help. Suddenly, in mid Feb, after my family had left; the package was found. I asked them to forward it back to me, as I would be seeing my family soon. They said they would. That was over 3 weeks ago, still no package. They have been more than not helpful; they have been down right rude when we call, but it has been nearly 3 months and still no package. But they signed for it, called us, lost it, found it again, and called us again. They just seemed to have lost it again. read more

Wow! What an amazing experience we had at Ramblers. I'll be honest. We came to Venice to do some work nearby and we were dreading living in an RV park. We arrived on Thanksgiving and the office was closed so I called the phone number and the manager was very helpful. They had left all the check in information on the front message board we just missed it. We pulled into our spot and weren't happy about the location but it was Thanksgiving and we figured we'd talk to management the next day about moving but by the time Friday afternoon rolled around we were happy where we were. We were in C-166 right on the main road. We thought we would hate being so "exposed" but everyone would wave to us and say hi and we really liked that. We had good people watching too. We stayed for an entire month and the longer were we there the more we liked it. We didn't want to leave but our work in the area was done. BUT we loved it sssoooo much that we are hoping to make it down for a month next year! As everyone else said, the bath houses are clean...no they are spotless! The activities scheduled are great and everyone was very friendly to us. The pool as hot tub nice. The horseshoe pits, play ground area, everything about this community is top notch! If I had any critique it would be that you do has to kind of discover things on your own. Examples are how the mail system works, the laundry cards, the internet, where some of the activity stuff is kept (bocci ball and shuffle board stuff). Like I said, we LOVED Ramblers and hope to be back next year for a whole month! read more

Not a place for weekend family campers. More of a mobile home park. Our "premium" spots were tucked between mobile homes. People were snarky about our kids playing quietly and we got a complaint about playing music at 2:30 in the afternoon. Not to mention, the pool was closed for renovations, so that was a let down. The one star is for Roger the nicest staff member there, and a pretty cool shaded playground. We will not return to ramblers rest, as it appears more for snow birds and locals, rather than weekend family campers. read more

Front desk staff is less than helpful. We had to figure everything out on our own. A little harder for first time RV's which is why we picked this part. It "seemed" like a good entry spot for us newbies. NOT SO. They never mentioned the resort fee per day until we checked out. So over $425 for one week stay. Wasnt really worth it for no ocean / no swimming in river nearby. They put our 5th wheel between a bunch of mobile homes so we felt a little awkward. The long term residents are clique-ish so dont even expect a friendly wave from them. A few mornings into our 7 day stay we just quit bothering to say hi or wave as no one responded. Pretty much old people and average age for venice is 67!!! I kid you not. Too many golf carts buzzing around. and every one is very white. I am 1/2 mexican and got some looks .... we just moved from Hawaii so I am not used to the 98% white in this area. Yes bathrooms are nice. Probably the best part of this park. And pool is nice. The guys delivering propane were pretty helpful. They actually gave us most of the info that you think the front desk would do. You can drop trash off in front at big containers. I dont know if they have individual trash pick up as no one said anything but did see trash cans at end of some sites on our last day. Fire ants meant we had to be very careful with our little dog and walking him. Mosquitoes abound but it is Florida. No decent restaurants any where nearby - only chains. Not staying here again. read more

This park is great. One of the best in Florida. Not all Encore parks are this nice. The pool area is huge. The park is pretty and treed, great for bike riding and walking or golf carting and it's huge. The staff is very friendly and helpful, especially David. We appreciated that David worked with us to find the right spot and when we were indecisive about dates he had no problem helping us out. He even stopped by to say good bye to my husband even though he hadn't seen him the whole month we were there. It's a great park, met lots of lovely people. Awesome campground since Encore took over. My only complaint is they allow folks to pay 5.00 and use facilities without knowing a camper. Therefore, we were invaded by bunches of disrespectful teens whipping balls in the pool towards our head etc. When we asked them to move it elsewhere they came back with more smart butt remarks. Maybe they should watch the pool area. There are families with young children etc. Not me however no one wants balls to be thrown at their head or smart punks being disrespectful. Fish by the river. Bath house are all newly remodeled and very clean. Highly recommended. read more

The residents of Ramblers Rest have been great in so many ways. The pool is beautiful along with the splash pad and play area. We really enjoyed fishing at the river and meeting the residents. We were here during the summer when the snow birds are not here. As a result the campground was very quiet and like our own personal campground. My boys loved the time we spent here despite all the rain. read more

We checked in for 3 nights in July after leaving Myakka State Park. It rained for a few hours on the 2nd and 3rd day. Our site was under water with almost the entire electrician line in the water. The power was off and on both days. The site was not level and it was holding water. You could not get out of the RV with normal shoes. You would have to have boots due to the mud and water. There was no gravel on the site. Every time you opened the door you were looking right into a Mobil home that had all its windows and doors opened a few feet away from your RV door. We do not have a slideout but the site was so narrow we could not put our awing out due to palm tree. It was very hot and an awning sure would have helped to keep the heat out of the RV. I called to try to move sites. No one was answering the phone. The Mobil homes are green from mold and unkept. The entrance looks really nice but the inside of the park once off the main road is not what you expect when you pull up to the front. The Mobil homes are in disrepair and sitting in water. The garage site was also too deep in water to throw the trash in the dumpster for a day and one half. When I checked out told them about our stay. They said it was rainy season in Fl. They were at sea level and this was what we should expect. We had stayed at Myakka State Park for weeks a few miles away. Prior to checking into to Rambers Rest. Myakka State park is also located on the Myakka river. It rained quiet a bit. But the sites never flooded at the state park and the site was level with plenty of gravel as well. This RV park spends its money on its entrance while it's guests encounter poor drainage no gravel and unlevel sites surrounded by detrioratioing Mobil homes. I would recommend you stay else where. read more

The park is very nice and many upgrade have been done. The bath houses are extremely clean and nice. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The pool and hot tub are awesome along with the billard room. This is my fist time camping out here and it has been very enjoyable. They could use some trash cans by the bath house for normal trash, cans, bottles and paper. read more

I'll start this review out with the fact that they've had lots of rain here. That said, coming in from a three day road trip to get stuck in the mud is not a good thing! Check-in at 2pm and the computers were down. Got quickly ushered away with a handful of papers and "go that way". Found the site, that you have to back into with a 42' fifth wheel. 4th attempt got stuck in the mud. This is with a 2015 ram 3500. Some kind neighbors decided to help and took my husband to the front desk. An older woman(whom I'm assuming is the manager?) said "not her problem". What?!?! Our new neighbor and a resort staff named Bridget Worked together to get us out. Bridget is fantastic! Find her. Don't even bother going to the front desk. Honestly, the park is nice, the pool is nice, the kids like riding their scooters. The only big complaint is the front desk woman. If she's a manager, she needs to go, asap! Those people that have big rv's and not a lot of experience with them would probably want to look elsewhere. Small, tight spots. Also-no cable and you pay extra for wifi. read more
