With a move back home to Omaha, this has become my new vet for my dog. I can't here because my mom takes her dog here and has been pleased with them. I initially wanted to take my dog here to help with this anxiety, But my dog unexpectedly fell down the stairs and had to be rushed at the last minute. He was treated by Dr. White and was well taken care of and treated. I've been back one more time for a checkup. My dog was well taken care off for the checkup too. Thankfully it wasn't serious and he healed quickly. Dr White is very friendly and knowledgeable. They also have friendly technicians and office staff. We have taken our various dogs to Ralston Vet for 34 years. We originally used Dr. Ericson, but he has taken a much deserved retirement. Our four pound dog has since seen several doctors since then. The different docs we have used are compassionate and take time with our dog. We have had to put down our previous very sick dogs when the time came for them...34 years worth...at Ralston Vet. Ralston Vet is THE best. And god, we love Dr. Barry. We moved to DC in 2022 and have not been able to find a vet we like. In fact, we had some really horrible vet experiences. So since we were bringing our sweet, little Ozzie (a crazy chihuahua poodle mix) with us for Xmas in Papillion, I called to see if they could squeeze us in. And they could! And not only did they give him his shots needed, they did a full exam and work up. (Spoiler: this will be our new Xmas tradition.) Dr. Barry was incredible! As always, she was so patient, kind, and thoughtful. She was never rushed and answered all of our questions and concerns. And when his blood test results were back, she called us personally and spent time talking through all of the options - and answering all of our questions - with us. Ralston Vet is just full of lovely staff who go the extra mile. I never have any doubts taking my baby here. read more

I have a busy schedule and very rarely take the time to write reviews BUT this palace deserves the best review! I am here temporarily for work and my dog's behavior suddenly was odd. I called the office and explained my concerns. There was no judgement of me being that over sensitive dog mom. The receptionist scheduled me for the exact day and time I needed. Plus, she assured me that she had blocked off some extra time to cover all my concerns. When I arrived (almost 10 minutes late due to traffic) the ones at the front desk reassured me that was fine and said "is this miss stella?". They knew exactly who my pup was and got me quickly back to a private room. I must comment that their front office area is very nice and open with plenty of space to help separate pets that may be stressed about being near other animals. Very calm and welcoming environment. Now I'm in the room and immediately a vet tech comes into the room and greets me and Stella. She intently listened to my concerns and took notes on the computer. Although she had to do this documentation, she still maintained engaged with me and my dog and was very kind. Soon the vet entered the room. The vet could tell my pup was very anxious about being there so she initially maintained space for my pup to help calm her (instead of rushing in and getting it done). The vet actually respected my dog and her feelings. The vet kindly took all my concerns seriously and addressed every one. Also, the vet tech helped to ensure all my concerns were addressed as I forgot a few things. Unfortunately my poor baby has double ear infections . The vet came back in after exam and made sure to go over every detail of the assessment, awaiting test, and medications. Then when I went to check out, the woman there was amazing! BIG PLUS...... the cost was so affordable that I could not get my card out fast enough to pay as I feared they had forgot to charge me for something!!! In today's world it is so very rare for ones to take time to care, be kind, and provide affordable care. Everyone at this office went above and beyond to help care for my baby Stella (she's almost 10 yrs old but still my baby) and they took care of me as well by ensuring my every little concern was addressed. This place makes me want to move here as I know they will always go above and beyond to provide outstanding care for my baby. As a healthcare professional for people, I am very impressed by the quality care, kindness, and affordability of this facility. I truly have never experienced this level of quality care anywhere. Our family was so lucky to find Ralston Vet and Dr. Demyan. In a very anxious time, with a pup with a very sudden, serious, and mysterious illness, Dr. Demyan and her team provided us comfort, confidence, and compassion. Dr. Demyan was always transparent and patient in sharing her thought process, her rationale for testing/not testing, helpful in making necessary connections to specialists, and incredibly responsive between visits when we needed guidance and/or reassurance. We were also able to get in quickly whenever needed. The staff, from the front desk to the techs, were also always genuinely caring and attentive. While the circumstances were scary, this group helped us through and very fortunately to life with a healthy pup again! THANK YOU!!! read more

One of the best veterinary places in Omaha. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The doctors are knowledgeable and will spend some time listening and talking with you. My dogs are typical and do not like going to the vet. They do know where the treat jar is in the examining room and are calm by the end of the visit. I like the way they have the medical file under the dog's name. You can also buy dog food and toys there. read more

Location has gone down hill. I've been going here since 2004 and there has been a steady decline in service and compassion for pets. Dr. Jernigan has no bedside manners or compassion. Avoid him looking at your pet. He's 0-4 in my experience with him. He needed to retire years ago. If you want the positive it's 2 long time techs and Dr Kennedy. Brandon and Brittany are the reasons we've continued to support this clinic with our current pet. We have decided to seek a different clinic for our new 8 week old dog. We choose a new clinic from our experience, others experience and recommendations about Papillion Animal hospital. read more

After being a 30+ year client of Ralston Vet Clinic, I find it interesting that so few people have left positive reviews that have been clients for years. Seems it's easier to leave a negative review for a one-time visit. If you are experiencing a problem ask for Janine or a manager! I trust the doctors at Ralston. Dr. J (Jernigan) has been there since day one for my many fur-babies. I have seen many other doctors over the years as well. I have had both dogs and cats treated by Ralston for their lifetime. After being sent to ISU Veterinary Hospital for extensive testing, one of my feline fur-babies was diagnosed with colon cancer. For the last 14 months of his life, Ralston managed his continued treatment (including chemo). RIP Odie 7-30-2018. Thank you Ralston! read more

I love coming here for my cat's care! I've worked with a few different doctors here and they are all so dedicated to caring for my cat. They always tell me what's going on and explain why my cat may need certain things done, and they don't push you when you say no. I am disappointed in this place after our last visit. I have been taking my dogs here since we moved to Omaha three years ago. However, the last time I took our dog in, specifically for a broken tooth, they referred me to someone else. This is fine and I appreciate that they were honest in saying the better oral animal doctor was someone else. My problem is that when I made the appointment I said it was for a broken tooth. They could have referred me to the doctor over the phone. Ok, so the front desk might not be qualified to make a referral, but why charge me $90 for an office just to be referred to another vet?? That is just silly! As soon as we got into our room, the vet came in with paperwork stating we could either be charge $90 for the visit, $69 for the pavo/lepo shot and visit, or $64 for the pavo shot and visit. Of course, we chose to do the shots, but if we hadn't you guys we're gonna charge me $90 just to tell me that another vet was better to fix my dog's tooth?! Ps the other vet we went to gave us a free consultation for the tooth. We will probably start going to him now. read more

We have eight dogs and Dr. Burbach is amazing! I had a vet I ADORED in Texas also at an AAHA certified clinic and have been looking for 3 years in the Omaha area for the "One". Finally FOUND her! From the minute we walked in the door, we had Dr. Burbach's undivided attention with a detailed head to tail exam! She clearly explained the diagnosis along with cause and treatment! First of all I have to say it's frustrating that no one appears to "Yelp" in Nebraska. While here, with my daughter, during the holidays I looked up several vendors and hit dead-ends. Ok, let's head out to Ralston Veterinarian Clinic in Omaha, NE. Our first visit, with my daughter's 76-pound English Retriever mix, was great. The clinic is large so waiting patients are not up against each other. The clinic was immaculate. We were running a bit late, due to the weather, but were received and taken in without much of a wait. Our new doctor is Dr. Olson and we loved her! She took so much time with us and treated us as if we were her only patient. We were also assured we could keep Dr. Olson and would not be shuffled to another vet when we returned. We left satisfied and the bill was reasonable, considering the services we requested. I would recommend this clinic to anyone looking seriously for a qualified and patient-friendly vet. read more

My family have taken our pet's here for years. All of my childhood pets have seen Dr. Mansfield who has never been anything less than amazing. When we got our dogs, we started taking them to Dr. Block, mostly because she was the only one available when we had to make a semi-emergency initial appointment for one of our dogs. We have been so satisfied with Dr. Block! First, she is easy to get into and works Saturdays and often has same-day appointments. Second, she is incredibly gentle with the animals, thorough in her exam and treatment, and is very knowledgeable. Third, and most importantly, she really and truly goes above and beyond. She has called us from home on her personal cell phone when our dog had a serious issue on a Sunday. She has also met us at the clinic on a Sunday night (in a blizzard) to give us medication she felt our dog needed. This is not an emergency vet clinic and this is not standard procedure for a vet. She really and truly cares deeply about your pet and will do whatever is necessary to make sure they receive the best care possible. You can't find this kind of dedication in a regular, human doctor (and if you have, please let me know, because I am looking), much less for your pet. We have had some negative experiences with very rough handling of one of our dogs with one of the male vets here - sorry I can't be more specific, I don't even remember the particular vet's name. At the risk of sounding sexist, we have always had great experiences with every one of the female vets here, though. One of them filled in on a dental surgery for one of our dogs (but I have to mention that Dr. Block checked in on her and called to update us, even though she wasn't the one doing the surgery) and did a great job! I have decades of experience with this vet clinic and have been incredibly happy with it! read more

We have been here for all three of our cats. Huge, clean, spacious facility. The waiting room is ginormous, which I love, because it means my cat carrier isn't wedged next to John Doe and his big ol' barking dog. No shade on barking dogs - they just stress out the cats. (They have a cat side and a dog side.) Reasonable techs and consistent sensible diagnosis on the vet's part. I love that they do no appointment walk-in appts on Saturday - this saved us an emergency hospital visit. It's pricier than some places, sure, but I don't feel like I'm being taken for a ride and charged for a bunch of unneeded stuff. read more

I know I'm back at the vet again but this time I have to give 5 stars because Dr. Gladney has worked with us, called us to check on Sophie, and has been really great! All of the techs here are really nice as well. The office is always really clean and there is a great variety of food and toys for your pet. Ralston Vet has been caring for our pets for over 20 years. Everyone from reception to the vet techs and the Doctors is knowledgable and compassionate. Dr. Jernigan is amazing. He has been our primary Doctor from day one. He is honest, straightforward, and caring. He has worked miracles with both our cats and dogs. The reason you may have a longer wait time is because Dr. J is always willing to fit you in when the situation is urgent. The man works more than anyone I know. We consider him to be a member of our family. The facility is always clean and it is modern and spacious. The prices are fair and options are always given. The safest, most thorough veterinary clinic I've ever taken my dogs to! My family and I have been taking our dogs to VCA hospitals for years. While I do appreciate our old clinic, I could tell Ralston Vet was far superior after just one visit. Staff was friendly, helpful and fast. They offer a separate entrance and in-room procedures/check-outs for nervous/unruly pets, and also offer a variety of options when it comes to treatment, medications, and payment. They do offer peanut butter to pets, which is extremely helpful when trying to get your dog to be still, but make sure to let them know if you or anyone in your household has a peanut allergy. Dr. Kennedy and Ashley made my visit especially pleasant. Ashley, at the front desk, was welcoming, helpful, and fast when checking me in and out. Dr. Kennedy actually took the time to make my pup comfortable, listen to my concerns, and talk them over with me; instead of making me feel rushed and unheard like I have at previous vets. I will be recommending Ralston Vet to everyone I know! EVERYONE. Even if they don't have pets. read more

This vet clinic is amazing. My dog had been misdiagnosed at NAMC in Lincoln, and I brought her here for a new issue. No only did Dr. Kalif do a very thorough exam, she also reviewed the xrays and documents from NAMC and found out that my dog did not have the heart issue I had been told she had. I had been heartbroken for a month and was overjoyed to learn my sweet dog was ok! Dr. Kalif has spent hours with me on the phone, anytime I call she calls back that day and goes through everything I need to know. I can not recommend this vet any higher than 5 starts on yelp, but would give them 100 if I could! Thank you Ralston Vet clinic!! read more

Really bad experience here and we weren't even seen by the doctor. The front desk staff was extremely inattentive and was unconcerned with the fact that my dog had been already seen by another vet, and was in quite a bit of pain because of muscle spasms. He proceeded to tell us that the doctor could see us in an hour; we then asked for a name of an ER vet. When he went to get the name, we decided to stay after all. He at that point told us that the doctor couldn't see us after all. My dog was shaking uncontrollably in my arms and he could have cared less. I just moved to Omaha and this was such a disheartening experience. People that work in a vet's office should care about animals or at least attempt to pretend to. read more

Left my little kitty here for the weekend when I went out of town. The cat condos are spacious, clean, and set in a quiet corner room away from the dogs. I was impressed with the customer service from the initial phone call through the guided tour and my cat's ultimate stay. When I arrived to pick her up at the end of the weekend, she was at a healthy weight and sat placidly in their arms on the walk to the lobby. I trust that they will good care of her again while I'm overseas during the next few weeks! read more

My Sister was down looking at and purchasing a new home in the area. She brought her dog down with her just as most of us would. The dog did what dogs do and got into it with a raccoon. We called into this vet and told them the situation and we wanted to bring the dog in for a booster and to get checked out as raccoon bit him in the face in several places. We told receptionist that his records were up in MN and that she had gotten the dog from a shelter in Wisconsin. A copy of the adoption a vaccines would be available there. The clinic said go ahead and bring the dog in and provide records when they came down. The dog was taken in and then later clinic called and stated they needed records to proceed and could not release the dog until records were provided. The shelter that he was from is closed due to COVID. So records could not be provided the same day as intake so they euthanized the dog. Lesson learned... carry your dogs records wherever you go as dogs will be dogs. When we asked why the receptionist said to bring dog in without records and that they could bring records later. The clinic stated the receptionist gave wrong info. Sounds like negligence! read more

Had been going there since 1990. Unfortunately the Vet who showed genuine compassion&attention w/two of our dogs at original location moved on. Jernigan's advanced knowledge treatment&care surpassed most in the field. My respect&trust couldn't have been more secure. Only to disappear,filling in for our usual Vet,during yearly c/u w/sweet lil' KC,few mos. shy turning 16. Aside losing majority of her hearing people assumed she was 5 or 6 years old w/energy she possessed. Yet,her joints did hamper her from time to time&inquired if per chance there was vitamin or supplement that would help? Apparently pressed for time&behind w/lil to no eye contact hardly looking beyond her chart says "You want lightning in bottle that doesn't exist..." Only to find out few months later they in did&do carry supplement that claims to ease joint paint. I was thought for sure her 17th Birthday was going to be her ready to say Goodbye but bounced back just as I was about to make her last appt... Four months later said she was ready,few days after receiving reminder her Heartworm test going to be due soon. Before calling I did bit research on current staff&chose who was in their 1st year while receptionist only concern was what&how to Bill the visit? As soon as her light went out I revealed my upset disgust w/both Jernigan then the receptionist. She appeared quite interested&concerned about it...only charging for the final injection. read more

After having Ralston Veterinary for many years, today we found ourself very disappointed. We called requesting flea treatment for our dogs after bringing home a young puppy infested with fleas. They denied our animals treatment, stating we need to make appts for all 3 animals to get the treatment. So not only do we need to treat our animals after rescuing a puppy, we would also need to pay for 3 visits for our 3 animals. Financially that is not possible. We immediately called another vet whom was willing to help right away. Taking our dogs in for weights, free of charge and finally a Rx for flea treatment. I love Ralston Vet enough to continue taking my dogs there despite the fact that I moved across town. Dr. Demyan is the absolute best. When one of my dogs had an ongoing issue that brought him in several times over a couple weeks, she called almost daily to check in on him. I was also able to get him in right away during near-emergencies. I felt completely supported during a very stressful time. Besides that, the techs are very gentle and patient with my dogs. The waiting area is huge, which is great for pets that need space from other animals during a stressful trip to the doctor. I subtracted one star because communication with staff up front is hit-and-miss, and I generally have to wait much past my appointment time to be seen. If you don't mind making follow up calls and waiting a bit, Ralston Vet will make it worth your while with the excellent care they show you and your pet. read more

I called to make an appointment for my cat to get his claws trimmed, we had never been to this vet before. On the phone, the receptionist asked if we had ever been in and I said no and she proceeded to book the appointment for later that evening. My cat is prone to being anxious outside of our home, and scared. It's a lot to take him out, he starts shaking and hyperventilating and all in all getting very worked up. So, we get to the appointment, I'm asked if I have his vaccination paperwork, which I didn't I was never told to bring any paperwork in, then told to wait for about ten minutes. After about ten minutes the receptionist comes out and tells me it would be illegal for them to trim his nails without proof of his rabies vaccinations. It was too late in the evening to contact my prior vet who had all of his up-to-date vaccination paperwork. I was more than disappointed by the lack of professionalism as to let me know what I needed to bring in, and pretty upset to put my cat through a whole episode of panic and anxiety for no good reason. They did not seem to care at all. I will never go back to this vet. read more

Ralston Vet is expensive, assembly line veterinary service. We took our pets there and have had varied service depending upon the Vet. If you can avoid seeing Dr. Jernigan, avoid him. He is constantly running late and blows off patients as the day nears close. You are often not informed that he is running late until 20-30 minutes past the appointment. Today, my husband brought our dog in for a follow up appointment after having bloodwork done yesterday because he has fluid on his abdomen. The appointment was at 6 pm. At 20 minutes after, he was informed that Dr. Jernigan would not be able to see him because he was running late. He said that he still wanted the test results Dr. Jernigan met with him long enough to show him the test resutls and say, it's liver disease, google it. No bedside manner, no recommended treatment not even palative care if that's where we are. But we don't know! We have 2 dogs and 2 cats. Ralston Vet has also treated 2 dogs that are no longer with us and a cat who is no longer with us .There are some wonderful vets there but today. Dr Jernigan has led us to leave the practice. As I have requested recommendations. The consensus is there are much better much less expensive options. read more
