I'll start off by saying it takes a lot for me to give any business five stars these days.
Now, about 6 years ago, I went to this location of Ralph's Radio to have a satellite radio installed in a vehicle. They did a decent job, it was about on par in price with all the rest of the stereo installation places in town, and I had no complaints.
I should ad as well, that I specifically used Ralph's Radio on that occasion 6 years ago because I was not overly impressed with a couple of other local installers that I had visited. I remember specifically the old Future Shop and going there one day and opening the door to the bay where they installed the stereos. I was a little distressed to see a couple of 16 year old high school students, who were both mouth breathers, ripping the dashes apart on expensive cars. I immediately wondered how much experience they could possibly have and envisioned all kinds of problems like dash lights not working after they had installed a stereo and such things like that. So because of that, I went to Ralph's Radio because, at the time, I spoke to a fellow that appeared to be in his mid-40's who told me that he was the guy that was going to install my radio and that he had been doing installations for almost 20 years. That meant something to me, and that's why they got my business at the time.
So back to my story, about 2 years ago the radio that Ralph's had installed 6 years prior started to cut in and out losing power. I did my best to try to find the problem and it was beyond my abilities. I hesitated if I should go back to Ralph's Radio with it, as I figured I'd be looking at another $150 or so to get whatever was wrong, fixed. I phoned first, and had a fairly lengthy discussion about this with the guy that was actually going to do the work. He was detailed in his responses to me, and did not rush me and arranged to get me in the very next day. I dropped the car off the next day, came back about an hour later and it was all ready to go. I was bracing myself for the bill. To my absolute shock, I was informed that once they got in behind the dash the fellow had discovered that a power harness that they had installed 6 years prior had worked its way loose which was causing the intermittent power issues and it wasn't anything I had done, and that it was covered completely under their Lifetime Installation Warranty. I was handed the key to my vehicle, and away I went, not costing me a cent. I was actually in shock for about half an hour afterwards.
I guess it's just become the norm that people now expect that most businesses will screw them at every opportunity they can to get money out of them. Ralph's Radio could easily have told me that XYZ was wrong and that it took them an hour to replace and fix whatever it was, and they could have billed me $100 and I would never have known the difference. The difference, however in this case, was that Ralph's Radio honored a Lifetime Installation Warranty, 6 years after the fact, and truthfully disclosed that it was an issue that occurred because of the installation that they did. They didn't need to tell me this, they could have lied and made money, but they didn't. They did the right and honest, and honorable thing. Something that seems to be very rare in business today. Thank you again Ralph's rRadio for being honest! So rare these days!
So that's my story. If you're looking to get a radio or stereo installed in your vehicle, these are the people that you want doing it. There are no 15 year old high school kids that breathe through their mouth ripping your car apart, they are all seasoned and well-experienced career installers, who know what they're doing. And most of all, in 2018, they are still an honest business. read more
