We are new to the Pomona area and my 3 yr old and 11 month old needed a hair cut! We decided to give Ralph's a try! My 3 yr old moved several times and he had to keep cutting he's hair shorter and shorter but he was so patient with my son, he did not give up. He clearly shared that they do not put metal on kids skin just for safety purposes. I really appreciated that! As for my 11 month old boy, he was getting his first hair cut! I sat with him and my son was moving so much, he was able to cut his hair. Bryson was very polite he knew exactly what we were asking for. Save your time and money. Never come to this place if you are looking for a clean haircut and good customer service. Don't get me wrong, I gave this place a few chances. The first and second visit were cool because I didn't have to deal with Bryson. I got a hair cut from a guy who had this rockabilly look. Don't remember the name, as I had only visited this spot twice. The guy knew what he was doing and I received a clean cut which made me want to come back. The third time I stopped by to get my hair cut, I was told rockabilly looking dude was no longer working at this establishment. So I got a hair cut from Bryson who was not entirely rude but was not the friendliest either. Hair cut was mediocre at best. The fourth time I stopped by was early on a Saturday morning. Thought it would be a quick in and out but that was not the case. Bryson went outside and took a smoke break which took about 20 minutes. When he finally came back inside, it still took him another 5 minute before he was ready for me. I was finally asked to sit on the barber's chair and he asked what I wanted done. I told him what I wanted and he then proceeded to ask if I had gel on my hair. I said yes and he seemed very annoyed and said that he couldn't get a clean fade with product on my hair. What kind of barber asked that question and what does it matter? I've never had an issue before, ever. Long story short. This Douchebag smelled like an ashtray and was very rude. I did not feel welcomed the entire time he was cutting my hair. The icing on the cake was when he charged me $25.00 for shitty service and a messed up haircut. I never returned to this place after this experience. I am not sure what was up this dude's ass that day but you should never treat your paying customers like they're an annoyance. I've since found a more talented barber who doesn't treat he's customers like trash and can give a clean fade, product on hair or not. read more

i stopped coming here and reading the recent reviews, it's more or less the same as before. I used to come here from chino hills when it was father and son. It was laid back. When son took over, like people said, it was constant bitching. He'll be nice and your best friend when you're there or cutting your hair, but soon as you leave, he hated your guts. All he did was talk about you or the previous customers. I don't understand why he even continues to cut. Maybe because he has to, but if he hates it so bad, then do something else that'll be more satisfying. The other thing too, is he opens whenever he wants, which is fine since it's his own shop. But for someone like me that has a schedule, it was hard to get a time. Obviously, if there's more than 2 people waiting, all hell breaks lose as that's too much for him to deal with alone. Dude, these katz were super cool!! I mean, instant conversation and great one at that. I'm not sure if you're like me, sitting in the barber seat and getting a cut w/ "sn9" conv is crap. Not here!! Before you judge, I have been to barbershops and had not been to one that either chops Eveything off the top in one shot or everyone just stares like they got a problem with you. This place has it all! The guys are incredibly friendly and keep you entertained with funny stories while Sara is incredibly easy on the eyes! This place deserves 5 stars and then some! Bryson and his dad own this shop and they're so friendly you immediately feel at ease. The first time I went here was with a friend who had long mid-shoulder length curly hair and wanted to get it cut in a short Harry Styles from One Direction sort of way. I am standing in front of this establishment wanting a haircut, there is a sign that says that they have a lunch break from 12-1. Cool, I totally get it. I knock on the door at 1PM and the door was opened by a caucasian man who opens the door with a disgruntled face and an even more disgruntled attitude asking if I can give him a minute and then proceeds to slam the door on me. I stood there kinda surprised and confused as I have never been greeted by any employee in this manner. Still, as I have read the awesome reviews of this place I waited for him to open. He opens the door about 5 minutes later and allows me in, asking if I have been here before and telling me that they do have a break from 12-1. Which I read and understood which is why I knocked on the door at 1PM to ask if theyre open. After waiting for a couple more minutes while he was cleaning up I decided to leave because I was just not feeling it. As a first time customer I expect at least a warm greeting and had he asked me to wait a couple more minutes in a friendly manner I would not be writing this review. I am not expecting too much, I am just asking for some sort of a decency from this man and he had totally ruined my impression of him no matter how awesome his haircuts are. Found this place on YELP after taking my boys to "Fantastic Sams" for ever & they like this place much better. Yeah, it's a lil hole in the wall, but don't be discouraged! They were the nicest people. Ralph (the owner I'm assuming) was working, but Bryson was who cut both my boys hair. He was great with them & did a great job considering my oldest has a hard head of hair to deal with. Lol. To start, I never ever leave reviews for things on Yelp. I rely heavily on them but for the most part, I never feel inclined to leave my own thoughts for somewhere. That said, Ralph's is an exception. I've had my hair cut twice by Rick, each time I've left with a hair cut that I am overwhelmingly satisfied with. He just does a DAMN good job. I'm a fashion photographer that mainly shoots men, so my standard is insanely high on hair cuts because I've seen some damn good hair in my days. The business has been in his family forever, started originally by Rick's dad and now his son Bryson is being trained to take over the shop. I heard about the place through a friend, who had heard about it through an online forum, where the person was saying they drove an hour just to have his hair cut by Rick. It becomes painfully obvious why they would drive so far after having your hair cut at Ralph's. It pains my heart to hear that Rick was recently diagnosed with cancer. He looks like a biker, with a barber bib on and he was seriously one of the nicest guys I've ever met. He was quick to banter, quick to smile and I got to hear about his life. The only place deserving of my first review without a doubt in my mind is Ralph's. When you walk in, the wait might be intimidating but When it's your turn in the chair, Bryson is always sure to remind you that your cut is the center of attention. So glad I found this barbershop! I've been going here since I moved to Pomona for school in August 2012, and I haven't been to another barbershop since. The place is family owned and they are genuinely the nicest and most talented barbers I've met. I usually get my hair cut by Rick, but if he's not there for some reason, his son does an amazing job as well. I request a certain look and Rick does more than I would have expected, even introducing me to techniques I've never heard of (like a razor cut...ask him about it haha).
