I used to love this office and surgeon However it's all changed now ! He is extremely short staffed and very overbooked which makes wait time HOURS the receptionist for years quit so o e woman show now she's nice but she can't be expected to handle job of three others now. I suggest he or overbook so much. Bc people become very irate waiting for hours. Possibly make a day for extractions. Instead of waiting i between people getting implants. after many years going there I finally walked out after three hours. Dr. Costagliola is a fantastic dentist/oral surgeon. I have had to visit him several times over the course of the year for a dental implant (for those of you who don't know, implants must be done in several steps over the course of a year). All surgery is painless, he's very accommodating, and he has a great staff. I highly recommend him highly! read more

I have been to Dr. Costagliola about a dozen times in 20 years. He is an excellent Oral Surgeon. His staff is highly professional as well. His manner is very friendly and relaxed which makes oral surgery about as pleasant as possible. I recall him taking me immediately when I had serious pain even when he had a sizeable wait for a regular appt. He is careful to make sure you feel no pain and he jokes with me and his staff. A very friendly office. He takes my Delta Dental plan. I feel lucky his office is conveniently located. I recommend this oral surgeon unconditionally. read more

Consultation took 2 hours. People waiting in the office for even longer than me and my son. Receptionist left at 5:00 clients including myself still waiting with no one giving us an update on what was taking so long. So bad not to mention one of the girls who was clearly in scrubs was smoking in the front of the building. Gross!!! I hope she washed her hands. read more

Staff very friendly. Lots of paperwork. The surgery was fine. I needed a lot of novocaine. The thing is, right before I went in, this guy who was in the waiting room was talking to one of the ladies behind the reception desk and telling her all kinds of personal things about his divorce and psychiatric meds he had tried to take and a bunch of other weird and out there things you don't expect to hear waiting for oral surgery. Then, right as I was about to go in - and I was really nervous because I was going here for the first time and I had never met the guy and he was going to be ripping a tooth out of my head. This guy turns to me as I am called and he says "Hey - No screaming, ok?" And I was so freaked out I almost walked out right then and there. The staff was super friendly and the girl who walked me in to the treatment room was really nice and did a lot to calm me down because I was really shaken. I was like, what kind of a place is this? Do people regularly scream or was this guy just being a dick? I had no idea what his deal was, but that was really ridiculous. Dr. Costagliola was expedient and got the job done. I appreciated that e really tried to get me as numb as possible even though it took forever to do that. He is the only oral surgeon on Staten Island who takes my dental insurance (UFT), so it was him or pay a lot of money. I just wanted the tooth out. He did it. I have no complaints about his work. He did say "Maybe no Roast Beef sandwiches anytime soon" when he was putting the stitches in. Just a weird experience all around, but the dental work was fine. read more

I am a patient of Dr. Costagliola. He put several implants in my mouth, did an extraction and a bone graft. I've given him a lot of my hard earned money. So, today, on August 18, 2017, when I called his office for an appointment to have a tooth extracted that, according to my primary care dentist couldn't be saved, I was told by a woman named Rose, on his staff, that I would have to wait until the end of October for an appointment. Two months!!! I told Rose that I was in pain, I had swelling, and that I was a patient of Dr. Costagliola, not somebody off the street. Her answer: "Go back to your dentist and get an antibiotic." I told her that I just finished one week of an antibiotic and it didn't help. Her response: "Well, make the appointment for October and call the office every day to see if there is a cancellation. Are you kidding me? She was completely unsympathetic and matter-of-fact. She didn't even try to help me, despite the practice's website stating: "Our staff will make available the day in which we can serve you best based on the needs you may have. If you are experiencing pain or an emergency condition, every effort will be made to see you as soon as possible." I am sure that Dr. Costagliola has no idea that this happened. The man is kind and helpful and I have had nothing but a positive experience with him and his work. However, for a patient to be treated like this is unconscionable. I think Rose needs a course in customer service and how to treat patients who are in pain and can't wait 2 months for an appointment. Finally, when I told her that the practice lost a patient and I'd have to find another surgeon, she didn't even seem to care. read more

This Dentist is awesome. Extremely helpful to me, very impressive. A few summers ago, My wisdom tooth started acting up, and it became very painful. (never knew how much pain a simple tooth problem can cause). I pretty much knew the tooth had to come out, as it was half way sticking out and tearing into my gums. I called a couple oral surgeons, and they all gave me the same stupid story, where I have to get a referrel from my dentist, then come in for a consultation, then come in to have the tooth removed, then come in for a 3rd visit. It was a whole headache. I need the tooth removed now, not 3 weeks from now after my consultation visit in 2 weeks. So I called this dentist. I've never scene this guy before, never been a patient here before, nothing. I called this office, explained to the receptionist im in a lot of pain, this tooth needs to come out, can I please come in and have it removed today, its killing me. So she said yes, I can come in, and the doctor will take care of it. I came in, it was a Friday, they were alittle busy, I only had to wait 1 hour before I was seen. That's it, new patient, doctor doesn't know me, never seen me before, its busy as Is, and only 1 hour wait time. The doctor took my wisdom tooth out, no B.S, no nonsense, and within 2-3 days I was perfectly fine. On top of that, the staff here was EXTREMELY helpful when it came to the insurance matter. It would take a few days for my insurance to approve the surgery and pay for it. So the staff here, KNOWING they aren't going to be paid today, still took me in, and let me get the procedure done. We agreed that I would give them a check to pay for the surgery, but they would hold onto the check and no cash it until the insurance cleared. When the insurance cleared a couple days later, they called me, I came in, took the check back, and thanked them. Very awesome experience here.. My tooth was causing me a lot of pain, and this was the only dentist that helped me out. I came in, same day, had the tooth removed. no nonsense. Getting a wisdom took taken out, is a simple surgery, why these other dentists are telling me its a 3-vist program and I need a consultation is ridiculous! read more

The dentist is good but the some of front desk staff needs a good attitude adjustment in learning how to deal with people. If I have a 1:30pm appointment, I don't expect to be taken at 4:30pm just because you're backed up especially a 94 year old woman. It doesn't give you reason to give attitude when spoken to about putting 2 people in front of a 94 year old who hadn't eaten in 16 plus hours because she had to go under, was off her daily medication that keeps her alive because she is a dialysis patient and was very nervous about the procedure to begin with because she is 94! Next time think as this could be YOUR GRANDMOTHER..It's unfortunate because the dentist is good, staff stinks, no compassion!!!!! read more
