Everyone was very pleasant and helpful. After my check in I was called back immediately. Dr. Robottom is always polite and caring. He takes the time to listen and never appears to be in a rush. He gets right to my injections and takes time to assure things are done correctly. In my opinion they don't come any better than Dr. Robottom. He is the best!!! read more

The phone system is ineffective and torture. On hold 25 minutes just for a triage nurse to tell me to take my mother to the emergency room for a fall that happened 3-4 days ago which she covered up. So doesn't seem like an emergency. And on top she WILL NOT GO. Then another nurse left me a voice mail and said to "call her back." unless she would provide an extension which she did not, it's back into phone system hell with no way to reach that person. No one seems to know protocol for things, seems like what a nurse would know. In an age of computers, nurses should also know the general wait times for an appointment because it affects quality of care and even treatment protocol. This is not the first set of problems I've had with the practice. it isn't the care necessarily and not a reflection on the doctors exactly altough they should care about how the practice is run, it's the business processes. Def some process re-engineering needed. Many times they do not put in orders they say they will put in, they don't follow up on stuff they say they will. Everyone points the finger at the other dept etc. This practice is the worse I've encountered. Hire some consultants and get your business practices ironed out, there have to be more effective ways of doing things. read more

I can't say how frustrated I am to hear that after agreeing to a change of my originally planned appointment date (which was set up several months earlier) to a different date I find out the appointment I have been waiting for will not be with my original provider but with a PA. Now I am told if I wish to see my doctor I have to wait until Feb of next year. I can't understand how the scheduling team thinks this is OK. NOT happy at all with their service. read more

Tim Ryan terrible excuse for a neurologist waited a month for my visit just for him to sit in his chair with his legs crossed hear about my migraines and write out a script that side effects were headaches. then he proceed to say if this doesn't work we have several other meds you can TRY ! i would have been satisfied with him at least using his phone and taking a picture of my forehead. no scans no mri no nothing to even figure out what kind or cause my migraines but YET he billed my insurance will be filing a complaint against him. read more

It took 25 minutes to just schedule a routine follow up visit, and I have to wait 6+ months for the appointment. Nothing sooner. When I asked about whether I could still get Rx refills, they said they'd have to transfer me to the nurse's station to see whether the doc would approve refills. They ask for all of their required info before they tell you they can't fit you in until next year. They care more about the insurance reimbursement than the needs of the patient, but everyone is like that these days. My first visit was great. With a real doctor who spent time with me. Every other visit is with a PA who just keeps prescribing different medications, each with different side effects, that don't solve the problem. Meanwhile, I had Xrays done by a different doctor who saw a structural potential cause for my pain. This is after several years of treatment. Botox works on my pain (at $500 a session), but the docs says insurance will never cover it, so I'm out of luck. Won't be going back there. Multiple employees have disappointed me. read more

Had been seeing Dr Hull since the 90's, The Dr they moved me too was good, but did not feel it was a good fit for me. I believe Nia was very understanding, extremely kind, courteous and helpful. This review is about CASSADY TURREGANO, NP. She was a disaster ! I first saw her about my tremors in September 2024. She suspected Parkinson's and said there was now a skin biopsy test that was a reliable indicator of the disease. Cassady did the skin biopsies in three places, one of which was on my right leg about 5 inches above the ankle. Two days later, that site became red, swollen and painful. My PCP put me on doxcycline and he circled the area while telling me to return if things got worse or went beyond the circle. It did get worse and the PCP sent me to the ER at Wake Med. They admitted me and I was on intravenous antibiotics for 3 days. To this day I need to put an ointment On the area as it is occasionally painful. The Parkinson test was fortunately negative. Cassady recommended an MRI of the brain on November 13 and told me her office would contact me contacted to set up an app't. Today is January 2nd and still no call back. I contacted Cassady several times via the patient portal and was told to wait. Finally, she responded on December 27 that it was her mistake. AVOID CASSADY TURREGANO! read more

All though Carlos was absolutely wonderful and very professional Dr. Tim left a lot to be desired. I found him out of touch with patients needs and consumed with his personal life. I started seeing Dr. Paul Carnes after being treated for chronic pain by many specialists. I desperately needed relief for my right knee and leg. My problems started after having a knee replacement in 2017. Dr. Carnes heads up the Pain Management Center at Raleigh Neurology Associates. When I first met him, he described in detail the various pain problems that I was experiencing. He developed a strategy for treating my pain, starting with the right knee. Throughout this process, Dr. Carnes answered all of my questions and addressed my concerns. He is uniquely knowledgeable of state-of-the art treatment and procedures. They were so incredibly rude to me between the process of setting up an appointment and seeing the doctor himself. The doctor didn't even say hello when he came into the room he just started rapidly asking questions. They lost the results of an EEG I had done but since they never billed me for it I just let it go and moved onto a different doctor. Months later I received a call going over my test results and then find out that they had me mixed up with another patient and had given me her results on accident. When I called the office back about it they were rude and said they didn't know what I wanted them to do. Do not go here! read more

Raleigh neurology sent us a bill for over $6,800 for three infusion sessions in 2021. First and only bill, with a huge red arrow pointing vto DUE NOW. That's our 20% share of the total!! Meanwhile, there were two more sessions not yet billed would have stopped the procedures immediately if we had seen the bill after the first one. They are not offering any assistance to us. Last March,  I went to Raleigh Neurology to receive a consult with Dr. Kirk. The very same day,  the first case of COVID was announced in NC.   Dr. Kirk placed an order for an at home sleep study kit.   I had not scheduled a follow up visit with the sleep technician nor had the office followed up with me.  I just recently got to a place of comfort with going into doctors offices and remembered that I needed to follow up. The sleep lab technician i lab quickly seemed to be irritated with my questions related to why a new office visit would be needed.    She was very condensing in reminding me that nearly a year had passed and that their office had been open for virtual visits (which would not have helped me provided I needed to come in to pickup the home sleep kit.) She added that my insurance would not cover medical equipment needed if there wasn't an office visit within 90 days. I called my insurance company who clarified that they would cover me up to a year and gladly agreed to call Dr. Kirk's office.   My insurance rep spoke with the sleep lab technician who gave a different explanation...that Dr. Kirk required an office visit within 90 days and that the medical supply company required orders from the doctor to be within 90 days.  Although I followed up and left a message for the sleep lab technician to call back, she did not. This entire interaction was unfavorable.  This year has been unprecedented and I expect there to be more sincerity and for information given to patients to be accurate.  At this point, I plan to start the process over somewhere else. read more

Had a routine appointment today with Jan Lowry. Even though I arrived prior to my scheduled appointment, they changed their check in procedure from a receptionist to computerized. By the time I filled out all the requested information and clicked on check in I was now a few minutes late. I had to wait 90 minutes because their new system took everybody prior to me, even those with appointments 90 minutes after mine. When I approached the window to ask how much longer I was going to have to wait, I was told I was late and would have to wait for the next opening. I was NOT late, their system was late! 15 minutes later I said I was going to leave if I wasn't seen right away. Brooke, the person that escorts you to a designated room said I didn't have to be so rude. As a business owner, I would have fired her on the spot for speaking so RUDE to a customer. I then had to sit in the room for another 15 minutes before meeting with my pain specialists assistant. The appointment was all of 5 minutes, 3 of those minutes was Jan asking what happened, she was told their was an issue. Since I have a TBI and chronic pain and was frustrated beyond belief, I didn't want to get into details, just said I wouldn't be back. I started seeing Paul Carnes on his first day at this new location two years ago, other than him performing a wrong procedure once, Mr Carnes has been good to work with. His procedures changed after that incident. Now he verifies several times what he is doing and marks the areas in ink. I am normally forced to drive 30 minutes each month to simple pick up a script. Today I was given scripts for the next two months. Why have I not been offered multiple scripts in the past? That's fine, gives me two months to find a replacement. read more

Went here about 10 years ago had pills rammed down my throat. Reluctantly called them after a getting a referral from my dr. Won't see me because one of my several concussion in my life was a car accident. You are nothing more to this COMPANY then a number and $$$ from inursance. I would give them Negative stars if possible, it took 3 phone calls and 2 days to get medication needed for pain! Not pain medication, but medication that prevented severe pain in the face! 2 brothers work there as Drs referring patients to each other can be nothing short of a conflict of interest! And a poor hiring decision. I was refused treatment until my check for an expensive and redundant test was paid for! Then they learned I was insured and ordered a battery of tests and treatments! If you have some unusual pains or something that cannot be clearly diagnosed, you will get shunted off to the pain clinid. Awful experience from checkin to seeing the doctor. Receptionists were more interested in chatting about company holiday party than assisting patients checkin. Nurse techs hogging the reception area to chat with other employees. Once in the back, there was no compassion showed to patient. Dr was dismissive and rude. I had enough and let the doctor know how I felt. Would never go back or recommend this practice to anyone. I had to rate with one star to post this review . I've had several friends that came forward with the same experiences. Had I known , my mother would have never gone there. read more

My daughter has been a patient of Raleigh Neurology in the past and then fortunately we didn't need their services for several years. Recently she had an incident at school and the doctor decided to recheck her for seizure activity and perform an EEG. Nothing was mentioned about cost so I assumed insurance would cover it as they had in the past. A few weeks later I received a bill for $972. Our insurance is changing and I could have waited until January for her EEG. It wasn't an emergency. I feel like it was Raleigh Neurologys responsibility to let me know that insurance may not cover the test but they said nothing. I would have waited a couple months or sorted things out with the insurance company had I known because I can't afford a $972 out of the blue. When I called they said there was nothing the can do. It does not make me feel good about this office at all :( read more

If you care about yourself or a loved one, run fast away from this neurologist. I have suffered a TBI back in 2009 in Philadelphia. I was seen by the best at Jefferson and Penn hospitals. We moved down to NC and people raved about Raleigh Neurology. I had the mistake of going to see Dr. Scagnelli. He basically looked at me and said, "what do you want me to do for you." Needless to say, after this response, I never stepped foot back in that office and travel to see my neurologist at Jefferson in Philadelphia. I later found out from some friends that their experience, which they are also minorities, that he has trend in stating nothing is wrong with you after other well-known and established doctors have already made a diagnosis. This maybe a race issue with him. Be aware! read more

I have had two different doctors here over the past three years, both in pediatrics. My first doctor, who I saw when I was 13, helped me with my migraines. I got an MRI here, as well, and the radiologists were great. Before it, I got a prescription from my neurologist for a sedative to help calm me down for it. I'm now 15 and have been seeing a different neurologist there for my sleep apnea since late last spring, when I was first diagnosed. I got a sleep study at their sleep lab to be diagnosed. The rooms there are like hotel rooms and are very comfortable. Many different variations of pillows are provided (but it's always a good idea to bring your own). Each room also has its own private bathroom and shower. When they found out I had sleep apnea through this study, I went back for another to get fitted for my CPAP mask and to figure out which air pressure was right for my body. Both times, all the technicians were so wonderful! They were very helpful and sweet :) if you get a sleep study, look for Bernerd (pronounced just the way it's spelled, NOT like Bernard). He's a young technician and is really kick ass. He likes hockey and video games. If you see him, tell him I said hi! :D read more

Dr. Perkins treated a hospitalized member of my family with a neurological problem not too long ago. His lack of compassion for my family member was unacceptable. Once diagnosed, instead of coming up with viable treatment options (for which there were several) for my family member, his plan was to do absolutely nothing! He was hostile and arrogant with our family on a daily basis as he made rounds. He was unwilling to answer questions about our loved one's health and future prognosis without snide sarcastic responses. His unprofessionalism was appalling and honestly, had me in tears. For someone who claims to read his Bible and incorporate his faith into his medical practice, he did not exhibit an ounce of true compassion or Christian love. Ultimately, I had to go to hospital administration, report his behavior and get my loved one transferred out from under his care in order to get the care that was needed. Thank goodness most of the other doctors at Raleigh Neurology are not only knowledgeable, but kind, compassionate and caring. This is a horrible practice, in particular pediatric neurologist, Dr. Schaffer! She has made several mistakes over the years with my son and we continue to give her "the benefit of the doubt". Well we can't take it any longer! She refuses to return calls and has a nurse do it with vague, upsetting and confusing answers! Even after 3 phone calls asking for a DOCTOR to call me back............no call. I would have been fine to switch to another doctor in the practice and give them a try. However, they do not allow that! I guess they don't mind loosing patients. Dr. Schaffer has the bedside manner of a rock. Please save yourself and your child and go elsewhere. read more

I switched my son's care over. I am switching us right back to Duke. I called last week when I was making our appointment calendars for the next few months to confirm the time. I added it to the online and printed calendars and gave my husband a copy for work. The appt time was 9:30 a.m. I arrived at 9:12 a.m. The woman says it was for 9:00 am and that I will have to wait up to two hours to be seen. There were no patients on the sign in sheet for this Dr. except us. Even if we were 12 minutes late they would make us wait several hours to be seen just because? That makes no sense. The nurse would not come and speak with us to give us our son's test results because she was "in a room with a patient" I've been here twice before and when we see the nurse it's for about 5 minutes. To get through to a nurse may take several days and the dr will not contact you directly. They must be more important than my child's care. Also when I called the nurse last week about my other son and needing something (since birth) waking up every half hour non sleep. ( A 3 year old. ) The dr said to bring him to the emergency room. For a chronic issue that should be dealt with by a neurologist since it is the neurological problems causing him the pain so that he can't sleep? Wow. I'm so grateful we have so many choices in this area for care for our children. I would never recommend this business to any other mother who cares about their child. I went to see Dr. Hull at my wits end with several problems with my sight, balance, knees ached and not sleeping and memory, speech and trouble forming complete sentences. After an hour of listening to me and looking at me like I was an idiot he asked me who the Governor was and I told him. He said that I probably have anxiety and said good luck. Then I was referred to Dr Perkins in the same building who supposedly specializes in sleep disorders. He called me a liar and said there is no way I wasn't sleeping, yes, he called me a liar. I told him I was here to get help and not to argue why I'm here. Very unprofessional and both Drs had horrible beside manners. Dr Perkins said someone will call you and set up a sleep study...needless to say, no one called. After 1 year, I'm feeling better with the help of a new PCP who tackled my symptoms head on and actually cared. My Dr today said I should have had a Spinal Tap when symptoms were at there worst since my MRI came back normal. Don't go to Raleigh Neurology, they don't care. If you know who the Governor is and can walk and follow a finger, don't waste your time. FYI, I never asked for medicine or asked to be put on STD, I missed 1 day of work going through this horrible ordeal with my body. The Medical Profession has failed me in so many ways but especially Raleigh Neurology. read more

I went with my daughter, who had suffered from severe migrines for 18 years, to visit a neurologist there on April 27, 1012 .She was already under the care of another neurologist in Raleigh, but wanted that "second opinion" . Suzanne, age 33, had a complete file with her of all procedures, medicines, CDs of CAT scans, and even an MRI....once the nurse took down some medical info....and took her file out of the exam room for a few minutes, she returned and said that the dr. would not see her until her medical records had been forwarded from her other neurologist, that if Suzanne was there for a visit to just "meet the dr.", that this appt. would not be covered by insurance, and that her case was "complex"...and then looked at her watch and reminded us that we "now" were on Dr. xxx"s "time". My daughter committed suicide on Monday, May 21, 2012......no, these doctors do not want to deal with "complex" cases..... read more

Three strikes and you are out! I went to RN 4 years ago and saw a doctor for severe headaches. He pushed drugs on me and said I had migraines. I told him it was structural and he said I had migraines. I don't. So I've been taking this medication for 4 years for severe pain. Note - I am working on other alternative options along the way which has helped tremendously but I still suffer from horrible pain. I went back to RN to see a different doctor. He told me unbelievable things. For instance, the meds I'm taking can not cause stomach bleeding. Hello - it is in the literature and all over the internet. He goes on and on from there. I decided on a nerve block to temporarily help with the pain. I setup an appointment. The pain was really bad so I called to see if I could get in sooner or see another doctor. A day later I get a person calling me back and they said that the dr was not in and the dr's nurse was not in either. I asked if I could see another dr and the person said no. I said you mean there aren't any other drs available to help me. She said, "No, this is a big practice and if you were to see another dr the first dr would think you were stealing their patients". HELLO! I said, "I can't believe that. You would think drs would try to help patients in pain". She said, "no you can't see another dr". I sure can - I'm going to another practice. Aren't drs supposed to try and help people instead of worrying about how many patients they have. Sad very sad. read more

I have been going there for a number of years with mixed results and I'm finally fed up. I have had some good experiences but also a fair share of bad ones. Today was the last straw --- I have had an unbearable migraine since mid-day Tuesday ... I've taken all the different meds that I have in my arsenal but nothing has given me significant relief. So this morning (a Friday) I call them hoping they can work me in for a shot of demerol because I am afraid I'll go into the weekend with this thing only getting worse and end up in the emergency room. To get me in for a shot of demerol would take all of 5 minutes and it would knock this headache out of my system. However they could not find a mere 5 minutes in the day to help me, instead reminding me that I have an appt set up for Monday afternoon. I won''t make it through the weekend in this pain -- I am SO pissed off at their lack of concern or caring. I will be switching practices. read more
