Just recently my daughter said to me, "You know mom, Dr Darcy saved my life. I could have never…read moregone to college without these glasses." We knew our girl had a terrible case of ADHD, but had no idea that she could have been helped with brain camp. In addition, Dr Darcy discovered that our daughter's eyes didn't track together properly, which caused a huge dislike for school. And actually, this problem was easily corrected with a special type of glasses. I have no idea why an optometrist would not have found the eye tracking problem, as it sure would have saved a lot of problems during 12 years of schooling, but we are extremely thankful for Dr Darcy's excellent care and services. It changed our daughter's life forever. She now loves school and desires to be a nurse to help people. If you are looking for help with your child regarding ADHD or ADD issues, if you are searching for alternatives that do not include meds, I highly recommend Dr Darcy Dane and the Carolina Brain Center. It was a great investment for our girl's life!

After my last two…read moreconcussions (occurring within the last year 1/2) I've been experiencing increasing difficulty with brain fog, fatigue, flat emotions, and so on, which has prevented me to engage in the normally active lifestyle i love to lead. After finally realizing that I need help, I reached out to Dr Dane at Carolina Brain Center. After a very brief phone consultation, Dr. Dane assured me that she would be able to help and that attending her week-long Brain camp would address my issues. I flew out from Utah to attend this. I regret not seeking help elsewhere, as it was a waste of time and money. Dr. Dane never cared to ask me for details about my extensive concussion history, but still concluded that Brain Camp would help after a few rounds of testing in the first hour of meeting me. She only cared about improving my initial test results (as she says, "data is data) but didn't address the every day, real problems I am experiencing. At one point she told me that this is all just my "new baseline" (what is the point of being here if nothing will change...?) and when I experienced painful headaches during the week, she told me to just take ibuprofen. In the end, Dr. Dane surmised that my brain fog and fatigue were a result of long COVID; it is important to note that this wasn't talked about before I flew out from Utah, and I was actively looking to find a brain specialist to help with my post concussive symptoms. Dr. Dane intentionally led me to believe that she could help with these concussive symptoms, and when she couldn't, blamed it on COVID. It is also important to note that Dr. Dane talked very inappropriately of COVID, stating multiple times that she was "licking doorknobs during the whole pandemic" and never got sick, and called mask-wearing "r*tarded". It's hard to believe someone telling me I have long COVID if they clearly didn't take the pandemic seriously. I worked with Dr. Dane's assistant often as well- on day two, I had asked him if he had experienced many concussions. He then asked me "What about you? Have you had many concussions?" They're 3 people that work in the Carolina Brain Center. It baffled me that one of them didn't even know why I was there for a week long of Brain Camp. I could go on. Overall, I received inattentive, un-personalized treatment, which really was just going through the same tasks every day as Dr. Dane and her assistant sat on their cell phones. When doing hands-on work with me, Dr. Dane often used one hand to hold my head/neck and the other to pet her dogs. After day one of that, I experienced the worst lower back pain perhaps of my life, for weeks. I was extremely uncomfortable and wary of any other hands-on work she did with me following that, which is unfortunate given she is supposed to be a chiropractor.

If you're on the fence about whether it is worth it to seek treatment here, I really encourage you to do so. After seeing endless specialists the last few years, this team was the first to really help me. I will forever be grateful for everything they have done for me.

Dr Paul did ultrasound guided injections that I instantly heard a loud pop in my neck and rib cage as he injected the medication. WOW I'm so thankful and pleased my primary care practitioners referred me to Raleigh Neurology! It's early days and I have 6 other injections but if my results from my 2 injections procedures go as well I plan to be back in college ASAP upon completing all injections. Dr Paul being a fellow USN veteran has excellent bedside manner, he listens and answers you. He's open to what you have tried and what hasn't worked. Unlike other practitioners he is the only one doing my procedures the continuity of care is not just reassuring its often paramount that Dr knows patient as more than just a medical record since he fully examined he unlike others I had full confidence in his care. The staff is super knowledgeable and helpful and always ready to give suggestions or send in referrals to other specialists. This office has permanent staff and not rotating doctors as the main hospital does. The parking lot ro this building is a nightmare and I recommend coming early and doing the online check in once parked since it takes time to get to the office and they are patient because it's common for patients to get lost because of the multiple buildings that surround the parking

This location is in the same location as Duke Neurology of Raleigh. They share the same building and even the same floor and phone number but are located in different suites on different sides of the building with different doctors. For the record I saw (and my surgery was performed by) Dr. Ali Zomorodi. One important thing to remember is to ask who will be performing your surgery. I have heard several stories where patients consulted with neurosurgeons and assumed they would perform the surgeries but the surgeries were in fact performed by the neurosurgeon's PA. That being said I have mixed feelings about my experience here. I give them 4 stars for several reasons. The positives: - This is Duke after all. Many people fly internationally to have their surgery performed at Duke because of the reputation, knowledge, and experience of the surgeons. - My surgeon was very knowledgeable and experienced in my disorder and has performed high profile surgeries with success. - The complications from my surgery were minimal and my recovery seemed easier than many of the testimonials I have read elsewhere. The negatives: - Poor response from the doctor's assistant / receptionist. I was usually sent to voicemail when calling and my voicemails were never returned. On the occasions I did get through I was promised prescriptions or faxes would be sent and they were not. I ran out of pain medicine on several occasions (which is not a good thing when recovering from skull / brain based surgery). I had to call several times to follow-up and ensure that simple common tasks were completed. - Time commitments were longer than expected. Our first appointment lasted 4 hours which were spent waiting for the neurosurgeon to come in and speak to us for 5 minutes (to their credit I later learned this is very common in this field). - Bedside manner and compassion were initially absent. Our first visit resulted in the neurosurgeon explaining how I needed surgery on my skull / brain for the back pain I had been experiencing, explaining how he would perform the surgery, and leaving after talking to us for less than 5 minutes. Needless to say my wife and I were both shocked because this seemed very major to us and we were not prepared to hear what he had said. To his benefit the second visit we learned the neurosurgeon is indeed very nice and caring and took all the time in the world to answer every question we thought to ask (we chalked up the first visit to a busy / bad day) My overall assessment is that I would have given this 5 stars if it weren't for dealing with the hassles of the front desk receptionist. Even though I had very difficult and frustrating times throughout this process I would definitely recommend this office and doctor based on the experience, knowledge, and my personal experience of the surgery and recovery. Just be prepared for delays and to spend energy and effort following-up on commitments.
