So I drove over one Friday night as it's takeaway or delivery only. There is very little chance of getting parking in the vicinity so bare that in mind. The food - I ordered a Sri Lankan type of roll which was on display on the counter (can't remember what it was called) which I ate as I waited for the rest of my food. He heated it up in the microwave which was immediately off putting, and when he handed it to me, it was greasy, soggy and cold in the middle. Next, the curries which we had once we got home. I asked the gentleman to recommend two curries, one fish and one chicken. The fish curry was a white fish which usually works in curries but in this instance it was super watery and very fishy. Usually you can enjoy the sauce with the rice at least but it was literally like fish soup. Gross. The chicken curry had a slightly better flavour but there were so many bones to pick out that it made it a hassle to eat. I've never known a piece of chicken to have that many bones, they were all small and thin. Ick. I'll settle for a traditional curry house next time.

The premises are decorated in the 'curry house style' without being kitschy and the Indian muzak played is not too loud - actually I've become quite fond of it! Thanks to the division of the place into three separate areas it is possible to accommodate couples as well as larger parties without the one disturbing the other. The customer service is second to none (hot towels and complimentary chocolates) and the staff are very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. It does however get very busy on Friday and Saturday evenings, so there may well be quite a wait in between courses. On these nights I recommend visiting after 8.30pm. The menu offers a great selection of traditional dishes for both starters and main courses, as well as a selection of specials - I can heartily recommend the tandoori mixed grill (served with a naan bead), the garlic lamb and the chicken chana. The vegetable side dishes, rices and breads are all of exceptional quality. Everything is served in very generous portions. Don't leave room for dessert, it's not worth it. There is bottled and draught beer available as well as wine and softdrinks. The full menu is available to take away for which there is a 10% discount and only a half hour wait from order to collection.

Despite claiming to be a fusion of Japanese, Thai and Chinese cuisine I think it was 80% Japanese, as were the staff. Not being hugely adventurous we had teriyaki chicken and sweet tangy lamb, which were excellent (could have been served hotter, my wife said). The desserts were good too my chocolate volcano was wonderful, just like the choccy pudding my old mum used to make (a tad pricey though at £4.95). A few minor gripes: our plates were whipped away as soon as we put down our knives & forks. They weren't doing it to hurry us despite being Saturday night they weren't that busy; it was just the staff's enthusiasm but it made us a trifle uncomfortable. The menus were largely in dark type on a black background all but impossible to read in the subdued lighting. And the 10% added to the bill for service is a habit that I thought had died out. I prefer to decide for myself how much of a tip I want to leave, and make sure it goes to the right person. As an aside: why don't foreign restaurants get a native English speaker to proof-read their menus? Some of the errors can be hilarious!
