The beers are what I would call proper beers and also the regular ones that you would find in any other pub. The staff are friendly and management all seemed very nice (I booked a large table for my 40th). Great pub, nice atmosphere and good garden!

The Ravensbury is spacious, nice woods floors, and usually has three or four real ales which they keep well and are always happy to let me sample before buying, and they have jugs for beer not just straight glasses! But it's not a stuffy old pub - the atmosphere is usually bright and brisk. It has a fantastic garden shaded by amazing 200 year old London plane trees, and given its location at a busy road junction it almost gives you the country pub experience. I work nearby and it is the favourite local drinkinf & eating place, and the staff are always cheerful and friendly.

However, when searching through the plethora of leaflets one day, I found the one for The Cinnamon Tree, and gave it a go. Their Lamb or Chicken Dansak is very tasty and filling, made, I believe with free range chicken. It is completely dairy-free as is their vegetable curry, although the Dansak is quite spicy even on the milder setting- recommended with Soya yoghurt if you have some in the fridge! The service is quick, although sometimes we've had an item missed off our order but they've re-delivered it with apologies. All in all an excellent delivery service, and they are more than helpful when it comes to asking them about ingredients and suggesting alternative dishes. The portions are massive and can easily feed two. Thumbs Up

After talking with the host I found out he was from the US, Arizona to be exact which was pretty cool considering he did have a slight accent. I later found out that he had lived in the UK for about 10, reason for the accent I guess. Now onto the food. I ordered a few appetizers to begin with. I order chicken somosa, fish tikka, and a kebab (which the host gave us complimentary). Not one thing didn't take good, so much so I ordered somosa's to go. From there my main course came. I had butter chicken with rice, boy was it good. I've had Indian food many times before but this one was on a whole other level. The chicken was tender and full of flavor and the rice was super fluffy. All in all great, and the next time I want Indian food here in the UK this will be my go too.

CHECK RECEIPTS FOR ANY ADDITIONAL CHARGES…read more. I have been a frequent customer of this restaurant for a long time, and I have noticed that their service is consistently poor. Today, I discovered that they have been charging a service charge on my receipts, despite the fact that this is illegal for restaurants and hotels. When I brought this up with the staff, they became defensive and thought that I was arguing with them. However, the receipt clearly states that the service charge is optional, which suggests that the restaurant is engaging in some illegal activity intentionally. I would advise anyone considering dining at this restaurant to check their receipts carefully and be wary of any additional charges.

However, on Saturday, my hockey team had their mid-season boys' curry night out here. The restaurant was already busy and boisterous by the time we arrived. They absorbed our group without too much effort I had already taken a little peep at their menu on-line and was impressed by the range of different dishes on offer besides the usual suspects like korma, rogan josh, etc. We took advantage to order a variety of dishes to share from the specials section. This ranged from lamb shank to chicken rajeshwari. The food looked good on arrival but sadly, it was hard to really taste distinctive notes in each dish. I found that the flavours really amalgamated into much the same taste in my mouth The mango lassi was yummy though. So the search for my local go to curry house continues

After talking to the waiter I opted for a Chicken Tindaloo which according to him was their hottest curry (although Pall is suppose to be hotter and listed on the menu). As always you have to goad them a bit as well otherwise they hold back on the spice. I was not disappointed in the least - I think this was pretty close to the hottest dish I have been served in a restaurant and it was fantastic! Otherwise; Service is excellent, prices are reasonable, menu is huge (so obivously you can order something less spice if you were so inclined) and portions are decent. Poppadom appetizer was the best I ever had.
