The "best" choice was not obvious from this research. I asked a friend who recently had kids get their drivers licenses and he recommended West Point without any reservations. I re-scoured the reviews and became convinced. The registration process was straightforward, and the office staff was always polite, efficient and professional. They are clearly used to dealing with unexpected issues because they were flexible with unplanned changes and last minute bookings. I only observed the instructors during their pre-drive briefings and post-drive debriefings. Always calm, nonjudgmental and full of useful tips. My kid told me that the instructors were always calm and did not raise their voice or panic. 100% recommend with no reservations.

However, when attempting to access the course materials on June 17, 2026, I discovered that the login functionality was no longer available on the website. I contacted the school that same day and engaged in several text exchanges over the subsequent days. According to their representative, Drea Carter, the business migrated to a new course provider approximately three months ago without providing prior notification. Although Ms. Carter provided contact information for the old provider, my attempts to reach them were unsuccessful. When I informed Ms. Carter of this lack of resolution, she stated that the business was unable to offer further assistance. As City of Trees Driving School has accepted my payment, I expect the business to honor its contractual obligations. While I previously requested either course access or a refund, I am now formally requesting a full refund of the purchase price.

My two elder kids have already taken driving lessons with Eugene and on the first 2 lessons for…read moreeach of them, my wife and I went with them (alternating turns, I take the first one and she take the freeway lesson...lol) so we know how to continue teaching them. One thing for sure, I can never be a driving instructor! He is patient and calm, something I can never do when teaching my kids how to drive. Gives very good basic driving instructions and clear instructions. My kids were happy with how they learned to drive. On the 3rd lesson which is close to when they take their driving test, he takes them to where DMV driving test usually go to practice. He picks them up at home every lesson. So far, he went 2 of 2 for my kids and they got their driver's license on their first try and they both drive themselves to school now. My youngest is actually taking his first lesson with him with me at the backseat. And just like the first two, Eugene is excellent. Highly recommended!

Nina was a good instructor and very nice, but there were a few issues with scheduling. She would sometimes arrive late to pick my daughter up and occasionally drop her off before the lesson was supposed to end -- at one point, about 30 minutes early. My daughter also had a little difficulty understanding her because of her accent, though she was always kind and patient. On the positive side, this was one of the cheapest driving schools we could find, and in the end, my daughter did get her license.

I selected Program 2 with an additional 1-hour lesson ($575 for 5 hours of instruction.) The instructor was kind and patient, however, always showed up late behind at least 20-45 minutes to every appointment and contact me at the last minute, so I never know until then. Moreover, my 4th lesson was cancelled at the last minute, even though she decided the appointment day and time. She ended up wasting my Sunday since she scheduled it in the middle of the day on Sunday. To make matters worse, the instructor provided feedback about my final lesson only after my behind-the-wheel driving test was already over‼ I informed her about my test day, but I didn't receive her feedback until after the test was over‼ This made it impossible to review effectively and rendered the feedback meaningless. As a result, I failed the test. Therefore I had to take extra lessons with another school. ※Update based on the comments below: I personally do not think this is fair‼ Was I treated differently than other students⁉ I didn't feel completely prepared because all lessons except the final one(DMV mock test) always finished earlier within 1 hour. Especially when a student specifically requests to work on their weaknesses. I took an additional lesson and asked to practice areas where I struggled, such as parking, lane changes, and merging into heavy traffic. However, you barely focused on any of these, despite my direct requests‼ Instead, you spent most of the time having me drive in a straight line, leaving me still uneasy about lane changes. I'm pretty disappointed that I did not receive the instructions as she mentioned below, or even the promised one-hour duration except for the final lesson‼
