You can also bring your own anything - bowls, boxes, whatever. We had to cross the street and walk about 100m to get to the picking area. Blueberries and currants were in season as well. Raspberries grow at eye level so I find them much more comfortable to pick. We were able to get just under 15 pounds in 20-30 minutes, and paid ~$45. The berries themselves were delicious. They also have a store with pre-picked fruit, and a variety of drinks, produce, and other items for sale. The parking lot is mostly shaded by trees, which is great for hot summer days.

They had raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, blueberries and red currants for u-pick. They also has a market with these berries that were pre-picked if you prefer not to pick yourself. The price of u-pick is $3.50/lb. My mum and I ended up with 10.5 pounds of strawberries and blueberries (combined). This place is so gorgeous because they also had a shady area set up with some tables to hang out. There's also a mini kid friendly playground. Plus a food truck on site? Hell yeah!

In the other flat, we found almost two boxes' worth of rotten strawberries, not including the many small strawberries mixed in. The rotten ones were hidden underneath the good-looking strawberries, so we couldn't see the issue when we bought them. The photo doesn't show all of the rotten strawberries because we had already thrown some away on the drive home while sorting through them. The amount we threw away could almost fill another box. We were pretty disappointed with the quality, especially considering how much we paid.

Wouldn't we get better quality strawberries for cheaper at a supermarket? What's the point of going to a farm? The staff at Emma Lea Farms were rude and uncaring. Upon leaving the farm I put the strawberries on a table for a quick photo with the tractor and one of the staff came with her spray to clean the table that I had the strawberries on and sprayed all over our strawberries. Our 1-year old was hungry so we wanted to feed her in the car before driving away but were told by staff that we had to leave the parking lot. We understood and decided to move the car to the street outside of the farm. The staff closing the parking lot told us that we weren't allowed to park on the PUBLIC street because that's their property. A quick Google search tells you that the street is no one's property and it's public. I emailed them to let them know but they never responded. Unless you want rotten strawberries or poor attitude I would stay away from this farm. This farm has by far been the worst farm I've ever been to. How could you go wrong with local strawberries??

The only 2 port-o-potties are located by the front entrance - which is a pickup truck ride away if you're in the field, so keep that in mind - very dirty and no toilet paper or hand sanitizer :-(. The staff is not the nicest. At least the blueberries were yummy reasonably priced. Note: they have buckets you can use so you don't have to bring your own. I finally checked out this place after driving by it on numerous occasions. It was mushy on the inside. It's not only at this place but I found it to be the same everywhere. It's because it's overripe. They are located right across from the Richmond Nature Park with free parking out front. They even have shopping carts to lighten the load. A bonus! The place was clean and service was okay. A great place to grab that missing ingredient to create a meal or buy flowers for a special occasion. It's rare to find a market that sells a lot of local produce & fruit. All I can say is support local farmers and businesses!

It would be far easier to just throw them in the compost, rather than the customers do it for you. Customer service is lousy at best. The older woman working the cash register needs to be retrained on how to treat paying customers. With so many good produce places around North Van, this one deserves a pass.

I've heard that Richmond has better blueberries than Abbotsford, and I tend to believe that because Richmond's made of a delta of sand brought down by the river. I do like this farm's sweet and firm berries. They have a farmer's market selling other produce, too. Sounds like those are from other local farms. I can't comment on the price, because I'm not good at remembering what the "usual" prices are.
