I understand what a working farm entails. I was there for strawberry picking on their last stretch of their spring run. I spent about an hour. It was enough time. To be honest, their strawberries aren't that good considering it's a local berry and you've just picked it. It's not sweet for the variety chosen it was bland. Ambiance was pretty, I feel it's a great location for a stroll and being a children's activity with ice cream stands, coffee, pastry etc... Staff was informative and very nice. I'd pass if you're actually going to pick up quality strawberries.

A great place for family fun! They offer blueberry and strawberry picking depending on the season. There's an area where they sell selected produce and retail items. The main attraction is the delicious ice cream served with fresh blueberries and strawberries. You can choose from soft or hard ice cream. Not an ice cream fan, try a milkshake, sundae, or smoothie. Vegan smoothies are available. There's seating available to enjoy your ice cream. Parking is complimentary but will get busy on the weekends.

This farm is definitely the most popular place to be in all of Ladner, hand's down! It's located five minutes from the Reifel Bird Sanctuary, where my kid and I visited recently on a hot summer day. Passing the farm on the way to the park, we could see the cars lining up to get into the parking lot here and the sign advertised strawberries and blueberries and ice cream and more, so we decided to stop here after our foray at Reifel. Upon returning to the farm, the parking lot was fuller than before (if that's even possible!) and cars were parked out on the street. When we finally parked, we walked toward the ice cream area (nothing better than an ice cream on a hot, sunny day, right?). Well, the line was like a gazillion miles long! And it was barely moving. We decided to forego the ice cream. They had a food truck selling lobster rolls (which, coincidentally, are one of my all-time favorite foods, having lived in Boston for a few years!). I think it was called "The Lobster Shack". The posted menu looked amazing, but I wasn't keen on spending over $20 per lobster roll, and then just eat it in my car. (For that price I'd rather go to a restaurant for lunch, you know?). My kid and I went inside the small store there. They had beautiful boxes of fresh strawberries for sale, gourmet jams and jellies and honey, frozen pies, and a few other foody treats. The consensus is that this place is best known for the U-pick it strawberries, and blueberries, too, so my kid and I decided to return to the farm here for that purpose. The fact that there are so many loyal, returning customers to this place, who've been coming here for many years, speaks volumes.

Sunflowers, donkeys, and tractors are just a few of the views you will see at Emma Lea Farms. As for me, I agreed to go because theirs an ice cream shop, which I had a soft-serve vanilla blueberry sundae. While savouring my ice cream I had fun walking and taking photos of the beautiful scenery. They also have fresh produce, fruits and vegetables, honey, jams and even grass-fed meats. A children's play area and picnic tables are available which is perfect for relaxing while kids can play. It was a short yet marvellous experience which I highly recommend visiting if you want a unique mini getaway from the city.

Went here during Strawberry season and there's plenty to pick from. You'll have to pay for different sized buckets before you go in the field (you can't bring your own). They also have prepicked berries at the market too if you don't want to pick. The strawberries we picked had way more flavor than the ones you at the grocery stores! Not sure if its just because we picked it right off the bush or if the grocery stores ones have been just sitting around for a while. But the taste is noticeable.

We visited on the last weekend of strawberry picking and it turned out to be a great idea. I thought it'd be more difficult to find quality berries, but it was remarkable how many strawberries were just waiting to be picked! Emma Lea Farms is a great spot to enjoy a nice day with family and friends. The fields offer tons of seasonal berries including strawberries, tayberries, black currants, blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries. While you can stop by and pick up a flat of berries in the shop, the highlight is being able to u-pick and get out in the fields to find your "berried" treasure. After purchasing a basket or bucket, you head on over to the fields to fill it to the brim. Depending on the time of season and how busy the fields can get, it could take 30 mins or it could take an hour. On the day we visited, it was super easy to find our bounty and had our bucket filled rather quickly. Bring sunscreen, a hat, or whatever sun protection you've got as you'll likely need it on the warmer days. Wagons are also available, but they are not suitable to lug the kids in. Once you've completed your picking, head on over to the shop to see what other goods they have to offer and consider some ice cream or a milkshake to cool down after all your hard work!

We arrived around 10 am which is perfect timing because it had a breeze and not a lot of people arrived yet. It took us around 2 hours to fill the bucket. We are a bit picky... only picking the big ones. I love that this place isn't too far and has area for kids to play after. We will definitely come back again next year.

I have been coming here for years and although it is busier than it used to be, they still have some of the best berry picking in BC! We always come for their blueberries which are juicy, ripe and HUGE if you look hard enough. They also have tay berries, black berries and raspberries but those bushes are quite thorny so I occasionally buy some of their prepicked ones which are a reasonable price. With COVID this year, you need to purchase a bucket ahead of time, prepay and then fill the bucket. Every other year, we have had no problem bringing out own and picking to our hearts content. Overall, my recommendation for berry picking!

For BLUEBERRY PICKING FANS! This is THEE PLACE to go to if you have the patience and time and steadiness of hands to pick and be PICKY CHOOSERS in SEARCH of the BIG BERRIES! Spent about 2 hours and ended up picking about 5 lbs worth of blue berries. Please don't go crazy and be too optimistic to pick buckets of blue berries if you haven't been here before or have not been here for awhile. The 5lb box was about $17.99. You pay in advance for the empty green box. Make sure to get your $ worth and pick to the MAX. For those seasonal pickers who pick every year, I did see a sign for REPEAT customers to bring in the same previous Emma Lea white buckets to save $1.00. Afterwards, I went to the Ice Cream Shoppe, which is part of the Emma Lea Farms and got a blueberry milkshake (soooOooo delicious) and a a Mixed Berry with Vanilla ice cream. The ice cream was definitely refreshing after a hard work in the Sun picking blueberries. I highly recommend this place for choosing big blueberries. You got to do the work in picking to get what you want.

Love this cute farm. We came here for strawberry u-pick every year. One of the great farms that you can bring your family to have a fun and sweet time. This farm can be busy in times, but lineup moves not too bad. Strawberries are so ripped and sweet. Don't miss out this summer activity! That's pick your favorite jewels.

This is our go to farm for berry picking each year. Great little location and lots of yummy berries to pick. My suggestion is to get here earlier in the day as it can get pretty busy.

Strawberry, blackberry and tayberry haul in early July

My first-ever berry picking experience was awesome thanks to Emma Lea Farms! We were just a week too early for blueberries and raspberries, but we got a good haul of strawberries, blackberries and tayberries, which were new to me but extremely delicious. Don't overlook the unfamiliar berries as you might just find a new favorite. Prices were fair: $7 for a strawberry tray, $16 for a basket for all other berries, $32 for a 2-gallon bucket. Due to the timing of my visit, many of the best and juiciest berries had already been picked with other fields not yet open to the public, so you may want to think twice before buying the largest sizes of bucket (unless you have some heavy-duty baking to do)! On-site ice cream shop was tasty and cheap, they have plenty of hand sanitizer and hand washing stations available to keep you healthy, and the proximity to Vancouver beats all the berry farms in Langley and Abbottsford. All in all, I'd come back any time!

Very nice family-run farm. Well kept and clean. They have u-pick for strawberries, tay berries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries. I saw that they have peas and pumpkins too! They're all a short walk from the parking lot and shop. The bushes are well managed, not full of spiders or weeds around it. Pro tip: bring your own bucket. Check in with the staff in front first so they can weigh your bucket. They have smaller trays that you can take for free, or you can buy a bucket from them for $2. I like that they don't charge you for the weight of the container! I paid $7 for a little more than half a bucket, about 4 lbs of blueberries. They have a hose and a few large farm style sinks around that you can use to clean yourself or the crops you picked. The ice cream shop was awesome to cool down afterwards with a sundae and a kombucha. There are lots of tables and chairs to sit as well. Note: no pets allowed at all.

1 Star - Absolutely Horrific Experience…read more I came to GJ Farm with every intention of supporting a local business, but instead I walked away shaken, humiliated, and furious. The man in charge of the store (an older gentleman) was not only accusatory, condescending, and hostile--he was downright disrespectful, arrogant, and deceitful. I specifically visited for Red Russian garlic to plant in my yard. I've grown this variety before and researched prices for organic Red Russian garlic nearby --typically $8-15/lb depending on size. GJ Farm was charging a steep $19.99/lb, but since I was already there, I decided to pick through and purchase. I spent about 5-8 minutes selecting bulbs, carefully looking for the largest and firmest ones for planting. As I was doing so, the man approached me and accused me of peeling garlic, while repeatedly insisting that all of the garlic had been harvested this year. After I had already chosen my final selection and was about to pay, I did gently crack the skin of one bulb to confirm quality, but during selection I only examined size and firmness, occasionally through skins that were already cracked. After purchasing, I inspected the garlic in my car and immediately noticed serious defects: one bulb was shriveled, and another had white mold between cloves. Considering garlic harvest season had only ended 1-2 months ago, this was shocking. None of my own homegrown garlic looked like that. Within 3 minutes, I returned to politely request a refund. The man then came out, yelling at me in front of other customers. He accused me of lying about how long I spent choosing (claiming "30 minutes," when it was under 10). He further accused me of only wanting a refund because I "realized the price was too high." He dismissed the obvious defects in his product and insisted that because he sells "thousands of pounds of garlic," my complaint was invalid--classic deflection instead of accountability. As I stood there shaking from his aggression, he never once offered a professional solution like an exchange or apology. Instead, he ripped the garlic apart with his hands--damaging product that I had paid for--while still refusing any resolution. When I pointed out the mold, he claimed not to see any, however, he removed all the mold as he aggressively peeled the bulbs apart. He continued to insist I take the garlic home and plant it, berating me loudly the entire time. Not only did he refuse a refund, he further damaged the garlic himself, rendering it unsuitable for planting. In the end, as he refused a refund and continued berating me, I suggested an exchange simply to end the confrontation. I did not want an exchange, as I had already selected the best bulbs available and the remaining garlic was of poor quality. This was never about the money--it was about basic respect and principle. A business owner should stand by their products, listen to valid concerns, and treat customers with dignity. Instead, I was met with hostility, gaslighting, and bullying from someone who clearly has no regard for customer service or honesty. If you value quality produce, integrity, or even basic decency, avoid GJ Farm at all costs.

They offer a wide variety of produce and speciality foods. I have discovered some of my favorite new items through purchasing through them, and for a shop of this calibre, the prices are good too. Their delivery service is prompt in that you can select a delivery for the following day, and their deliveries are well packaged, sustainable and returnable/recyclable. Their delivery person is also really nice, which can change, but is a nice bonus. I'd say their website user interface needs some help, as things go missing in my cart without notification, but that's a minor nit to pick. The best aspect of this company is their customer service.
