Fast Patch Drywall Company - Shed drywall project

    Fast Patch Drywall Company

Recently purchased a house that needed electrical updating, which left several long portions of…read moredrywall open, along with various holes. Fast Patch was the only one of several companies that quickly responded with a precise estimate after reviewing several photos of the proposed work, and were able to schedule the work promptly. The work was done by Fidel, who arrived right on time and did an outstanding job, including matching the texture of the wall perfectly. Once painted, there was no difference between the patched sections and the rest of the wall. Really excellent work.

We had a very frustrating experience with Fast Patch and would not recommend them. They gave us an…read moreestimate, which we accepted, but when they showed up, they told us the price would be more than double the original quote as they hadn't realized the extent of the work. That alone was concerning, but it got worse from there. They only did work in one room, which they stopped painting the ceiling a foot away from the wall and it is very noticeable. We were then told the complete job would be delayed, and it ended up being put off for two weeks. During that time, we had already moved all of our furniture out of the space, expecting the work to be done--so we were left living in an empty living room for no reason. On the day they were finally supposed to come back and complete the job, which I had planned to show them the poor painting finish, they didn't call to discuss, they just emailed us and said they believed the cracking might be due to a structural issue and that they were no longer comfortable doing the work. At that point, we were back to square one after weeks of inconvenience, with no solution and no accountability. The lack of follow-through, poor communication, and last-minute cancellation made this a very disappointing experience.

Good, fast painters are hard to come by, and it's even harder to find ones who are professional and…read morepleasant. MC Drywall & Painting is the real deal. I first found these guys last week. In the last 7 days, I've asked them to do two different jobs for me, and they're done with both already - both times Juan (the owner) responded directly, and worked with me to find a quick time to walk through the job. He listed out the work, explained my options and what the result would be, and gave me very fair prices. On both jobs, he did the prep work right then and there, and we scheduled when he could come back to do the finishing. The thing I loved most - Juan followed up to ask how I liked the work, and even offered to come by if I found any issues.

Last week, I had Juan Corrales of MC Drywall and Painting remove popcorn from my garage ceiling,…read morerefinish it with mud as needed, and then paint it. While Juan is a pleasant person to work with, the actual work needed a lot to be desired. Firstly, there could have been a lot more protection of the items in the garage and a lot better cleanup, as needed, after the job. I pointed out a few items which needed to be cleaned up and asked him to look for other similar items also to take care of. After about 30 minutes, he claimed to have cleaned up everything. When I checked later, that was obviously not true. When I called him back, he did return the next day and removed mud and paint from some more areas (walls and floor) and other things in the garage and the driveway. Unfortunately, the clean up job was still incomplete, many of the items in the garage still have white powder or paint on those. There are still wall areas with blobs of mud on them. Will take me a while to clean all those up. The other issue is that when they unstapled (to be able to paint the ceiling) and then re-stapled the automatic garage door wiring from the control panels to the garage door motors, it was a completey amatuerish job. Instead of going in a straight line, the wires are going in wiggly lines, curving back and forth at random. The covers of the control panels are loose. Essentially, this means that I will now have to spend more money to get somebody from a Garage Door Opener company to re-do the control panels and the wiring so that the work looks decent.

Unfortunately, the drywall repair wasn't to our liking. We hired Miguel to complete the drywall repair and to paint the ceiling afterwards so it matches. Overall, the painting was 10/10. The repair that Miguel completed was a lot better than before. Prior to finishing up the initial painting, Miguel had agreed to come back if we saw an issue with the drywall after the paint was dry. After pointing out an issue with the drywall to him via text, he agreed that some additional work was needed and was willing to come back to get it done the following Monday. After trying to confirm with him if he was still coming on Monday, he pretty much ghosted me and did not respond to my message. I tried following up 2x but no response. Overall, the painting was 10/10. Would I feel comfortable hiring him again? Probably not. If you see something that you're not 100% satisfiedyou run the risk of being ghosted by Miguel if you asked him to come back.

The only reason we did not select his company was we received a really good package deal from the company that was to do our deck remodel. We hired Juan about a month ago for a shower remodel. Overall, the work is ok, but definitely not…read moreprofessional quality and left a lot to be desired. The good: -competitively priced, one of the cheaper quotes we received -good quality materials: porcelain tile slabs -frequent communication -finished product seems to be functionally ok, for now -we had a toilet leak during the construction period, Juan reseated the toilet properly and fixed the leak promptly, this was much appreciated. The bad The work was overall sloppy, in many regards. First and foremost, after Juan installed the valve and plumbing, they caused a small leak into our living room below during water testing. This required them to open up the ceiling downstairs, dry it out, and patch up the drywall and repaint (see pictures below). This honestly freaked me out and increased my vigilance throughout the project. During shower door installation, they cracked one of the slabs requiring it to be replaced. This was fine, but the waterproofing patch job looked uneven and thin, but they did come out and re-coat it after I brought this up. The shower door hinges were poorly installed initially. The screws were not countersunk and sticking out; I even confirmed with the shower door manufacturer that this was not correct. We had a lot of back and forth about this; Juan eventually replaced the screws with ones that fit more properly. Wall edge at the end of the shower looks very uneven, and the caulking has cracked and the wall on the tub side even has a hole in it at the transition. On the last day, I asked them to replace the shower arm to raise our showerhead, as it was low; I purchased a gooseneck from Lowe's myself, but Juan initially told me "you can do it yourself" however because they already installed a standard shower arm. He did end up putting it in at the end but it was installed improperly; it was crooked, so I decided to replace it myself afterwards as I was already quite stressed with this project already and this was a simple fix. After taking the shower arm off, I found no teflon tape on the threads, but instead a thin layer of some kind of goo. I'm not a plumber, but teflon tape is generally recommended to seal the threads. I cleaned the threads off and installed the shower arm with properly applied teflon tape with a thin layer of pipe dope. At least the copper elbow in the wall felt solid. Overall, the wet area seems ok, we're not having any leaks (so far), and the shower is functional; however, I felt the project was rushed, communication, while frequent, was poor, and the end product is just sloppy. In the end I was told "I worry too much about everything." I'll post the pictures of the areas of concern and you can judge for yourself. We saved a few thousand dollars, but in hindsight, I wish I hired someone else and saved myself a lot of stress.
