The staff are always helpful, friendly and efficent. They always work with a smile on their face and are polite and get you your chips nice and quick. The price is also pretty good, you are able to get a really good feed for a fiver, which is great for chips in Bangor, especially when they are this good. Delivery service is available Monday to Saturday 5pm to 10pm, and phone orders are welcome at all times. They also take lunch orders from businesses and will deliver if the order is big enough.

And how right she was. It's one of those chip shops which don't look like much from the outside, but with this place, it's the inside that counts. Located on the end of Pound Street, Broadway is Newtownards hidden gem. I love that it's called Broadway, symbolising the highest earning and most commericial theatre-land in the world, and it's located on Pound Street. Excellent. It actually does kinda represent the quality of the food, juxatposed with bargainous prices. The chips are always cooked to perfection, and they do these great mini pizzas too. A 7" plain cheese and tomato pizza, without toppings, is £1.60...an absolute bargain! And it's really, really tasty. If you fancy a 10" pizzas, or toppings, they're on the menu too. The only problem I have with Broadway is that it's opening hours are limited, as its business is mainly done during the day time. I always go for their cod and chips, being a huge fan of fish and the batter and the fish are really really great. The batter isn't overpowering and the fish cooked perfectly. I love their chips too and my sister swears by their cheesy chips and hamburgers! The prices are great too and won't break the bank and if you're lucky enough to get a seat outside on a nice day you really can bask in the glory of all Bangor has to offer!

So pulled up into the car park, two degrees outside and 'are we human or are we dancer' coming out of the radio as I turned off the engine. First duty was into a nearby supermarket for a soft white bread pan. When it's fish n chips it has to be tea, bread and lots of butter. A good sprinkling of salt on the fish n chips too. Carbs, animal fats and hardly a healthy calorie in sight. So into the chip shop to a friendly welcome from a man, certainly didn't look like Paula but it's a funny old world so I thought better than to ask. Two fish and chips please (or as we used to say: two fish suppers) £11.60 was required. I checked it was cod and he almost seemed taken aback at my question - he said, 'of course'. I waited a bit pleased that the food was being cooked to order. The portions of cod were huge, with fresh, white chunky and skinless meat. If you aren't sure how fresh cod tastes try it here as it's very fresh. I thought each chip portion was a tad mean but once home and in the plate it was generous enough. The food is cooked in beef dripping. There is no substitute good enough, groundnut, peanut, rapeseed, olive, corn oils none come close. The batter was towards thin and I like that, and to be fair the food sat in a take out bag until I got home and put out the plates and do on. Despite this the food was excellent, perfectly good food and still quite warm. A chip buttie was a must. Now I've eaten some of the finest foods on earth but I gotta tell ya the taste of a white soft pan bread chip buttie with a bit of salt and a generous slap of butter is wonderful made all the better with hot tea. The glowing reviews are right, it's a great place. The next time I want very good fish & chips I know where to go. Maybe next time I'll sit in and have it at its very best. Who knows now that oil prices have fallen the prices here should drop too.

You will get a fish supper for about £6 which is pretty standard for Bangor and the quality is high, but certainly not award winning in my opinion. It is situated in a wee retail complex which is kind of on the outskirts of town and a little bit out of the way for me and the quality isn't so world class so as to make me want to go the extra mile to get their chips. There is no ATM near by and the car park can get a little bit full up, which is a bit annoying.
