Unfortunately, our family's experience was heartbreaking, and I would never recommend this facility to someone I love. From the beginning, it felt like physical therapy was not the primary focus. We also became concerned that she was not consistently being assisted with basic hygiene, toileting, or changing when needed. While she was staying there, she developed a urinary tract infection (UTI). Because of her age, the infection caused severe confusion and hallucinations. Her condition became so serious that she had to be transferred to the hospital. After spending several days in the hospital and receiving appropriate treatment, her hallucinations stopped, and she improved significantly. When she returned to the facility to continue physical therapy, things unfortunately got worse. She developed bed sores, and she also had a foot infection that continued to worsen instead of improving. Our family was deeply concerned about the care she was receiving and whether her treatment plan was being properly managed. One of the biggest issues we experienced was the lack of available staff. My father and I visited multiple times, and on more than one occasion it was nearly impossible to find a nurse. One day, my father walked through the facility twice looking for someone to help, and the only employees he was able to find were members of the custodial staff. They were kind and helpful, but they should not have been the only people we could locate when our grandmother needed medical assistance. The experience that will stay with me forever happened during one of our morning visits shortly after breakfast. We were told that my grandmother had "just woken up," but when we entered her room, she was completely soaked in her own urine and other bodily fluids. She desperately needed to be cleaned and changed. My father and I did everything we could to help her ourselves, but we needed clean briefs and other supplies from the staff. We pressed the call button and waited. We continued waiting. It took approximately 45 minutes before we were finally able to get someone's attention. During that entire time, my grandmother remained in that condition while we tried our best to care for her ourselves. No family should have to watch their loved one go through that. Every patient deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and timely care. I want to acknowledge that I'm sure there are individual nurses and staff members at this facility who genuinely care and work hard. However, based on our experience, the overall quality of care, responsiveness, and staffing left us feeling that our grandmother was not receiving the attention she needed. We ultimately made the decision to remove her from this facility because we no longer felt she was safe there. I would not trust Windsor Cypress Gardens with the care of my grandparents again, and I hope this review encourages the facility to make meaningful improvements so that no other family has to experience what ours did.

The staff is attentive, compassionate, and always willing to help with any need, big or small. The physical therapy team has been incredible. Receiving therapy twice a day has helped him grow stronger each day, and the progress he has made has exceeded our expectations. We are seeing improvements physically, emotionally, and mentally. Most importantly, we are seeing his spirit return. He is smiling more, showing determination, and demonstrating the heart of a true survivor. The encouragement and support from the entire staff have played a significant role in his recovery journey. Thank you to everyone for your dedication, kindness, and genuine care. And, I don't mean covered over with some other fragrance, I mean fresh! They keep this place spotless! My first contact was with Charlie. He handled the writing of the contract. Charlie was so calm handling our business. He was like talking to a good friend. Next, we met Michelle, their head nurse. She was like talking to a sister. Michelle did the initial assessment for my mother's level of care and she was spot on. Michelle was so genuinely caring. We met the director, Megan, she was like an Auntie. The caregivers like Rosie and Taye, absolute angels to my mother. Rosie in particular cared for my mother so well. She was the only person that my mother let bath her! The Med Tech Rita, VERY experienced and super friendly and caring and so many others treated us like just part of their big family, I really mean that! I knew, this was the place for my 94 year old mother to enjoy the final years of her life. Every employee that serves here has a heart for the residents. They behave like they want to be here. The receptionists at the front desk and the servers in the dinning area, everyone is a part of this close nit family of caregivers. If you are looking for a place where you can truly trust that your loved one will be cared for as you would in your home, Citrus Place has the caring people that will do just that! I would like to offer my assessment of Sunrise Senior Living here in Riverside. I speak with a good…read moreamount of experience since over the years Sunrise has provided care to, not one, not two, but three of my family members: father, mother and sister. The first was my father, who was admitted shortly after suffering a TIA. When Amy came out to the skilled nursing facility where he was recovering to interview him, he was understandably apprehensive but her professional presentation helped calm his fears. The registration and orientation process with Mary went smoothly and all our questions were addressed clearly. On his arrival at Sunrise, he was greeted at the door by three of the most compassionate caregivers you could imagine, and they patiently helped my father transition to his new accommodations. Throughout his stay, approximately one year till his passing, he was always afforded the attention he needed. I recall on one occasion when he needed a meeting with a couple of his old business associates, Sunrise reserved a private room for their use, complete with refreshments. It was a small gesture of respect but one that was appreciated. The scheduled physical activities sessions were great and my participation was encouraged. On the night my father suddenly took a turn for the worse and was taken to the hospital for the last time, the staff on duty helped me through the decision to call 911. In the case of my mother, she actually had two stays, once when she was recovering from a broken wrist after a fall at home and secondly when she was recovering from two shattered legs suffered due to negligence at, of all places, a skilled nursing facility here in Riverside, from which she never recovered. During her relatively short stay till her passing, Sunrise provided the upgraded level of care she required. In the case of my sister, she too was admitted to Sunrise, around the same time as my mother, for her own health issues which resulted in her passing 14 months after her mother. In fact, for a while, Sunrise accommodated both mother and sister in the same room at my request. The nurses on site always afforded my sister with an extra level of care, especially since she suffered from Multiple Sclerosis and other comorbidities. As with my parents, they were always available to me for consultations and recommendations. In addition, since my sister had frequent need of off-site medical appointments, the caregivers were always ready to aid in her preparation prior to her transport. Many of the same caregivers, nurses and staff who had worked with my father during his stay and were still there a few years later and so felt a certain special bond with my mother and sister as well. To this day I still maintain contact with some of them. The staff at Sunrise had always provided exemplary support for my family at critical times for which I am forever grateful. It's hard to imagine how I could have managed without them.

My daughter chose this facility, primarily because it's the closest location accessible to her, and literally walking distance to the hospital, which he would be transported to since he's paralyzed. That said, I'm just very disappointed. The recent negative reviews are accurate. The response time when he presses a button or we press a button while we're there visiting him at times is very unacceptable period. I get that they're understaffed, but for all of the money that the VA is paying for him to be there, you would think they would at least hire a few more people, and he's not the only veteran. there are a lot of veterans that are there, and they're not well taken care of. And I'm saying this based on his experience and what we've witnessed - all family members, friends and his former coworkers from the base-March Air Force. The other issue that is disturbing, is that some of the younger staff, particularly the younger males & the trainees (don't exactly know what their titles are), I've caught laughing right in front of him, making fun of him to his face, most of them smell like weed, and complaining! Complaining about him right in his face. He's not quite dead yet, and he's still coherent and understands what's going on. It's just very disrespectful and quite cruel! They also make fun of him because he's freezing, and he has two or three blankets, and constantly asking for thicker socks, and for the temperature to be warmer, and at times he's confused because of dementia, but he still coherent at times, (which is a majority of the time), he just has his moments. Now I want to give 5 stars to the head nurse, which I forgot her name,, 2-3 female nurses that are working on the C rooms section , I can't remember their names, but they are always empathetic to him including the one young gentlemen, with blonde hair & accent, he always remembers us. And last, but not at least, the 2 receptionists at the sign-in desk-entrance, if I forgotten anybody for praise. I apologize and can update this review later, because I do believe in giving credit where it's due. But for all the staff that laughed at him, complained about him and treated our loved one poorly and disrespectful. Shame on you!! The day is going to come when it's going to be your loved one, perhaps a spouse going through the same exact situation as they get old. Maybe you'll remember how badly you treated these folks-karma is a bi%#!

My father said "after visiting and responding to dozens of care facilities, as a professional firefighter, I would rate this one at the top". They have visiting hours every day, they provide food for their residents, help them bathe, get them dressed. Our loved ones could have their own room or share a room with another resident. They have the living room area where our loved ones can socialize. They had a lady over 100 years old in their care and she seemed very happy. All of the residents are friendly to the visitors that come. When my grandma was nearing the end of her life, her caregiver Matthew was so gentle and kind. He notified us every moment regarding her status and let us know that it was time to visit. If he didn't take the extra step, I may not have been able to say goodbye. She passed peacefully in their care. The actual facility is a house on a quiet little street. It's quaint and the residents in this home get to know each other and become friends.
