Hmmm, why is this place so popular with the locals? Unfortunately I didn't find out on this visit. Their menu is short and varied, just what you need early in the morning. I wouldn't choose to eat here for breakfast again, for a number of reasons. The coffee was good but not great, there's a lot better in Hobart, They have tried to put their own twist on eggs benedict, bacon instead of quality ham, not only that, the bacon was full of fat, To add to the cholesterol they have also added cheese. So if you feel like a mouthful of fat then maybe you'll love it. The bread was way too thin and tasted like it had been bought from coles from their so called gourmet section. Presentation was also poor mind you I suppose its too hard to dress up a plate of fat. Service was good to start with, an attentive waitperson, but the meal took a while to come out. When paying my bill, I decided that the counter staff need a holiday to learn to relax again. They really need to use more quality locally sourced produce. The good points were; a great space, egg yolks were runny, and the sautéed Huon mushrooms were delicious.

    Awesome hot chocolate

Great burrito bowl. Fresh ingredients and great flavour. The service was prompt and friendly. Definitely a business worth supporting.

    Bright Eyes - Great coffee!

Great place to get a heart start before heading off to MONA…read more Simple and minimalist. This is no cosy corner retreat - open and exposed to sun and wind through huge windows and sails. Communal tables mixing it with other stalls at the Brooke Street Pier. Coffee was tasty and interesting. Three different roasts available, the barista recommended an Ethiopian that was up to spec. Service was friendly and helpful. Update: second visit, I asked to try a new roast and the barista offered to make me a sample first to see if it was up to spec. Full size shot and a chance to talk about it after. Great service and passion for the craft!

I love you, darlings…read more I was temporarily working out of Brooke St Pier at the start of the year and it was such a blessing knowing that the reward of very good coffee was waiting for me at the end of my morning walk. I am so fond of the "perfect" size cup, and the small selection of baked items is amazingly tasty (if you're around early enough--they don't get replenished; once they're gone, they're gone!). I've had a few people ask me if the Bright Eyes coffee is any good, which is a ridiculous question if you know it's the younger sibling of Pilgrim Coffee. It's WONDERFUL. You can also use your Pilgrim loyalty stamp card at Bright Eyes (and vice versa) and Bright Eyes is open pretty much every day consistently, including public holidays (yet another blessing over the holiday season). I'm actually a little bit sad that work doesn't have me down Brooke Street's way more often, as I miss my regular Bright Eyes dates. No EFTPOS limit, short wait, papers to read while you do. Do not hesitate getting your own caffeine fix here.
