The place itself is pretty nice, very big, lots of trees and decently clean bathrooms and showers. Every site has a huge garbage can, which is emptied every morning and a fire pit. They sell firewood and ice at the front, where there is also a beach volleyball setup and basketball court. It is a 5 minute walk to a 24 hour grocery store, and the Walmart (in case you forget your tent. *cough*.) It's probably a 20 minute walk to the beach, but we drove because we didn't want to drag all our stuff there. They do everything to make sure everyone has a good time. From 9pm-12am, they have a tent set up with music and laser lights for a dance party. Let me tell you, dancing on soft sand is AWESOME! At 10pm, a car from Dominos comes, selling large pizzas at $10 each. At midnight, music has to be turned off, but most parties go on until dawn with no hassle from the Party Police. When we left, the friendly girl at the front suggested that we visit their Facebook page and tag ourselves in the pics that they took at the dance tent. Everyone who works there was friendly, which can't be easy seeing as their entire clientele is made up of drunk partiers. My only complaint has more to do with the other campers than the campsite, and has a LOT to do with the difference in ages. It's been a long time since I could party all night and wake up at 9am and party some more. Nowadays, blasting music out of my car in the morning (MORNING!) after a big booze down is too ridiculous a concept to imagine. The average person who goes there is in their early 20s, and from the Kitchener/Waterloo area, it seems. Other than the loud mornings, this was totally fine, as everyone is very laid back and just out for a nice time. I would recommend this place for anyone who wants a camping experience they will never remember!

After verbally confirming over the telephone with someone that they will reserve a cottage/cabin for you, you have to go to TD bank and put the deposit (in cash) into their account. You then write to their email address to confirm you put the deposit in their account. Once you get there and pay (cash), everyone is given a bracelet they have to wear for the duration of their stay. Extra people cost extra money. Check out is a bit early (10am I believe?) but you can often leave your car their for the day after you've checked out. If you're looking for somewhere to stay with a group of friends in Wasaga Beach, this is a great option.

There are a couple of day-use lots on the outside of the actual park for locals to use, I don't believe you can drive into the park proper to use it for day use. At the time we visited, Orillia was close to peak color, so it was a fantastic time. It was a nice day for a hike, and there were quite a few other people using the park as well -- there's a little beach area in the day use part as well as a playground and places for taking your dog on leash. We went and followed the trails in the park, there seems to be a few that can be used, one in the treeline and one along the lake. You can make a decent little loop of a couple of kilometers. There's nothing incredibly challenging about this little hike, to be honest, but the tree colors make for some gorgeous photos. I'll definitely want to come back and visit here and go camping during the season. A really lovely provincial park!

My friends and I wanted to try a new activity in the area. We heard of this new place opening up…read moreand decided to check it out. This is called bouldering, so rock climbing without a harness. The harness is available for people who want it (young and old), however you are only able to do some obstacles, as the harnesses can't be on all the walls. This is a completely new facility. You have to sign a waiver when you first climb here. This was my first experience with climbing and I do not have very good upper body strength, however this shouldn't stop you!!! The walls are labeled with levels of difficulty, and you work your way up gradually based on your comfort level. There are shoes available for rent here, as well as locker, and chalk. There is plenty of room to store your personal belongings on shelves. You can also bring your own lock so that you do not have to rent a lock. You are given a quick tour on your first day and also shown how to fall safely. There are thick mats under all the walls, however it is important to follow the falling instructions to prevent injury. As a first time climber, I was nervous at first (because heights aren't my thing) but after a few easy climbs, I really got into it. Expect to be very sore the next day if this is your first time! You will be using muscles you have never used before. I saw people of all ages and skill level. There were even children as young as 7 years of age. There are definitely more challenging walls that even expert climbers will find difficult. I really enjoyed this experience and can't wait to return! Get out there and climb! :)

Local people…read morehave taken over the beaches, placing heavily armed police to guard the parking areas and not allowing anyone they don't recognize. The "public" parking was half full, and they let in people they recognized but not strangers. The police were nasty, very aggressive, and threatened us. When I stopped a few times on the shoulders and entered one of their members-only parking lots to let my daughter use the washroom, they sent a police trooper in a vehicle to escort us from Simcoe County. This is the first time I was afraid for my life in Canada. Worse, this is funded by our tax money to defend public property from the public.

I'm not sure the history of this campground to warrant such a strict regime but it takes away of the vibe & isn't very "Canadian". Charging $12 for any visitor, regardless of the amount of time, is ridiculous. Having travelled and experienced many campgrounds, this one was the most unwelcoming. We had an RV and the site was muddy due to the rain. The workers out in the campground were very friendly.
