Rainbow Trout Farm is easily hidden on State Route 89A. They're located just before you enter Uptown Sedona. This is a great family-fun activity. For $1.50/person, this includes the cost of admission, fishing bait, and the use of their fishing equipment. The check-in process was extremely fast, as you'll get a handful of bait and a bucket of water for the fish you'll catch. We did beat the rush and arrived about 30 minutes after they had opened. As the first ones to arrive, we had the advantage of scoping out our spot to fish. This is also great as the fish are hungry and ready to eat. So, within 40 minutes of arriving, we did catch three rainbow trout. We had caught 12", 14", and 16"! This was an epic activity to do as my son was extremely excited whenever we caught a fish and was eagerly happy to grab the net and remove the hook from the fish's mouth. Now, I do want to warn everyone that THERE IS NO NET FISHING, AS WELL AS CATCH AND RELEASE! You will be charged a fee of $25 if caught doing so. Now that we have caught our three fish, whichever fish you caught will be weighed at $1.25/inch. They do offer a cleaning service at the cost of $0.50/fish. Also, located around the ponds are a lot of grills and benches to cook your freshly caught, hard-earned fish. The grilling kit costs $1.50/fish, which includes a bag, plates, utensils, salt, pepper, butter, and garlic seasoning. There is a 2-hour limit use of the grill, but no cost to use it. Now, if you wanted to take your fish home to cook it, they can pack the fish with ice at $0.50/scoop of ice (one scoop would last about 30 minutes). Also, coolers are offered at $7.00/each, which is recommended if you plan a 2+ hour trip back to your kitchen. As a beginner to the fishing sport, this was a great activity to do with the family on your vacation! Such a fun experience! First time at a trout farm - they provide the bait, rods and two ponds filled with trout. You pay per inch for anything over 8 inches and on average each fish caught is about 10 plus dollars. You must keep and pay for what you catch ( not a catch and release). For an extra fee you can grill your fish town if their many grills, have it cleaned and put in a cooler with ice. Picnic tables available too. The only thing to watch out for is having too much fun and catching more than you intended to spend on. But don't let that deter you- totally worth doing and an experience with fun memories. read more

Keep an eye out for the driveway. It's a bit hidden!! Prices are $1 per fisher. Price per fish caught varies. They'll clean it for 50 cents. Check into Yelp and one fisher is free. They supply the stinky bait, pole and net. Don't know what the bait is, but flies love it. No catching with the net!! No catch and release. You pay for the fish you catch. I was so ready, unfortunately the fishes were smarter than this suburban girl. Sigh!! After an hour I gave up. No charge if you catch nothing. I thought I would be having a trout tonight but instead we went for Indian food take out. Most of the people who sucked gave this place low stars. SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT On a Sunday afternoon, came with expectations of a guaranteed catch to take home and have a scrumptious grilled trout for dinner. I have vivid memories of this place years ago with the ponds teeming with fish to the point they were jumping out of the pond to bite your hook as soon as you lower your line above the water. I dare say it wasn't even fun because it was so easy, catching them in less than 10 seconds. Some important ground rules: You must keep what you catch Buckets are free to use to hold your fish No nets allowed to catch fish Must use the rods on site (bamboo stick with a line tied to it) Must use the bait provided (feels like a ball of play dough) You pay small admission fee to fish plus each fish priced by length This day was a far cry of those bountiful days at the farm and was wishing it to be that easy again. There were just a few fish swimming around the banks with maybe a couple dozen in the center. I would drop my bait right in front of the fish and it would go around it. I would even hit the fish in the head with my bait as it swam by but the fish were unphased LOL You could see balls of bait just sitting all over the bottom of the pond. I don't know if the fish were full or were spoiled and tired of the same 'ol bait, but these were the pickiest fish I ever encountered. Maybe the influx of visitors after the pandemic cleared out the most of the fish in the prior weeks but there was hardly any in there. Needless to say- NOT ONE fish caught. An amazing place! I came up to do learn fly fishing and my guide Chase was very patient and extremely knowledgable. I feel he put me on a correct path for my fly fishing journey. After we were done he showed me around the operation. I have been planning on bringing my grandchildren up so they could catch some fish at the trout farm. I watched the very small kids catching their first fish having a wonderful time. There were tables and Barbecue's and every one was having a good time. I caught a beautiful 15 inch trout and the young woman at front was very helpful and cleaned my fish for me and answered all my questions. This is a five minute adventure and you better like trout. Yes cheap to actually do the fishing, but each fish cost $10 a piece. We went with the thought of actual fishing. This was literally stick pole in water and they bite. Not real fishing. You can't release the fish, so you have to buy them. After my kids caught 3 each (and they would have and could have caught 100), we walked away spending $70 and having to take home and figure out how to cook 6 fish. This place is AWESOME! The guy that gave us instructions was super friendly. Sorry we didn't catch your name. My little family and I were visiting Arizona. After doing some sightseeing. We had some time left before driving back home to Vegas. So we went on the trusty Yelp, and found this place. So we're like why not use our time up here. There is no entrance fee to come in which is a plus, AND they allow dogs. Which was amazing, because we brought our two pups with us on this road trip. They provide everything you need for fishing. From the rods, to the hook, to the bucket to put your fish in, and bait. They also have bbq grill, chairs, and table. So you could enjoy your catch there. There are two ponds to go fishing in. There was a crowd on the pond to the right side of the place, and they were catching a bunch of trout. One after another, so you will not leave this place empty handed. We ended up going to the pond to the left to stay away from the crowd, and the first 5 mins of fishing. My husband caught the first fish. These fishes are smart. We were hoping to catch some big ones, but they were smart not to get lured in LOL! We caught some decent size ones, so we were happy. We left with four trouts to bring home. They charge you per pound. Which isn't bad at all. With four decent size trouts, getting them cleaned, and the bag of ice to put them in. We paid less than $40. They also clean the fish for you for a super super cheap price. Which I thought was convenient. They also bag it for you, so we didn't have to grab any ice and a cooler for our drive home. We drove 4 1/2 hrs, and no leaking from the bag. So he definitely packed it really well for us. We definitely will be coming back here when we visit again. What an experience! We did some hikes earlier on in the day and wrapped up the day with the sun setting while catching trout. Such a tranquil area. It takes a little time to catch on the fish's movement and activity, but once you do, you're reeling them in. I just wish they had more larger trout. Super fun place to hang with the kids/family! It's almost a guaranteed catch if we're being honest, lol. You pay a really small fee per fisher ($1-$1.50) and you can use the grills here for free and can choose to bring your own seasonings/tools or you can buy some cheap here. They will clean the fish for you and you pay per catch and based off of the size of the fish. You can buy bait and everything or bring your own, depends on how prepared you want to be! I would recommend against dogs (unless medically necessary) and if you do bring one it must be well behaved and on a leash. This was a really fun place to go & explorer with my kiddos to get their first catch. It's not a catch and release place though & is kinda pricey for what it is but we made some wonderful memories with my Dad and he cooked & ate the fish and said it was delicious. Very crowded even on a week day. Fish were small ! And if they were larger it was because they were smart. Hung out for hour and a half with five people fishing but caught nothing. You are charged $1 per fisher and then a fee for each fish you catch based on size. You can have the fish gutted and filleted for a fee and a small fee also gets you a grill kit if you want to cook them on site. I went recently with a large group and we caught eight trouts ranging in size from 8 to 11 inches in length. The fish in the ponds are pretty smart so it was slow going until we realized if we threw in tiny pieces of bait indepent of the hook and pole to get the fish excited they would then grab bait on a hook aa soon as it hit the water. Our party was able to get in, catch our fish, and leave with them gutted and filleted in less than an hour. Perfect timing when you have two young kids in tow. We went today (Saturday right in the afternoon) and we were the only ones there. It's a cute experience for families, but it's very quick and costs a lot to keep the fish you may or may not want. We caught 2 fish within 10-15 mins and they cleaned them and put them on ice for us for about $30. Lots of mosquitoes around but the area is cute and it's a fun stop for kids. The poles are a bit flimsy but lots of fish in the pond and a nice system they have set up. I haven't been to many trout farms in my adult life, but kids love this place. Arizona isn't exactly known for fishing, so to be guaranteed to catch a nice sized trout is rewarding for the kids. You pay per trout caught based on the length of the trout, usually around $10-13 each. They give you the opportunity to take your trout home on ice or in a cooler, or you can donate it back to the local fire department. The last visit I had the trout bagged up and I put them my Traeger smoker that night back in Phoenix. I'm not sure what they feed the trout but they came out excellent, almost tasting like salmon. Mixed feelings.... We were there around noon on a hot summer day so I didn't expect my kids (both under 10) to catch much. They caught exactly zero fish. Others, mostly adults, seemed to be able to catch at least 1. The rules seem arbitrary and not really enforced, both in good and bad ways. You are supposed to use their bait, but I saw plenty of people not following this rule. I saw a guy catch the largest rainbow trout I have ever seen using bait he brought from home. The boys handing out the equipment seemed "over it" but that is probably typical for a summer job when you are a teenager. I asked for tips for my kids and they didn't want to help. To be fair, they aren't paid to be fishing guides but I would have thought giving some pointers while sitting in their shack wouldn't be the most difficult thing. The only time I saw them move was when they attempted to chase me down in the parking lot for what I guess they thought was me leaving without paying. I pointed out we didn't catch anything and they sheepishly walked back to their sitting area to get back to relaxing. Don't expect it to be easy for all ages and the rules on fishing are rather loose, so have the right mindset and some homemade bait! read more

We cooked them to perfection along with some of our left overs from our trip to Sedona. Add some beer and perfect weather and it made for a perfect day! This place is easy to get to located on 89A about 3.5 miles North of Sedona. The parking lot is tight when the place is crowded. There are two ponds and you pay for each fish that you catch based on the size, between $10-13 per fish. If the fish is very small they will release it back at no charge. They do gut and remove the gills of the fish but leave the head and scales on. They do pack the fish in ice to take home. If you do not like trout, you can use it for bait to catch catfish as an alternative. You pay for the fish you catch but you will definitely catch fish. What a fun spot! My friend and I came here quite a while ago but it was super enjoyable to catch trout here that we ended up making for dinner that night. I have zero fishing experience so it's a good spot for someone like me to be able to have it all done for me - they give you the rod, the net, and the bait and the trout are literally just in a pond so it's really the easiest fishing ever.
