I wanted to give this a 5 star, but I have to give my personal experience an honest review. I feel like we had 2 experiences here.... First I'll rate the fishing. That part was wonderful. We came here with my husband, parents, & 3 and 5 year old. My husband caught his first 2 fish EVER & my children had their first fishing experience. Getting the rods and bait and fishing...that was all wonderful. It was the perfect first fishing experience for most of us. They stock the pond with trout monthly so, you know you will most likely catch some. If we had more time, I know I would have caught at least one and our group would have left with more than 2 fish. But....now for the second part. The service. Yesterday we showed up at 11am on a Saturday and were told they had to close early because of a funeral. Ok, that's understandable, but there was nothing on the website, though she said there was - but that's ok. People make mistakes. The owner said she would give us 10% off since we showed up as they were closing early. We said we would be back first thing the next morning (today). So, today, on a Sunday, we arrived at 9:00am and got started. Everything was great. But, shortly after we arrived, the owners left...leaving a teenager there alone to check everyone in and out, provide additional bait, assistance and clean the fish. Unfortunately, when we were ready to leave at 11am, there were a ton of people waiting to get fish cleaned, pay, get more bait, get hooks, etc. We didn't get out of there until 11:45am. Again, I love this concept of a stocked pond & easy fishing experience, but the customer service left a bad taste in my mouth. We were shocked they would leave the place to a young person with very little experience on a Sunday morning. There were a lot of angry people when we left. But, at the end of the day my kids had a blast & we will be cooking my husbands first catch ever for dinner. read more

Have gone here twice, one time we had a great time doing some basic fishing, although it is extremely pricey one of the guides was super nice , when he gutted fish he would throw the fish guts into a nearby river, then when I came back another time no one was there to manage the fishing despite it claiming to have been open, a woman came around and told us we could fish , we paid for rods and bait and started to fish. We caught a few and took pictures of them next to a ruler then went and cooked them, a few hours later she told us we'd have to pay for all of the fish as if they were 13 inches, because she didn't measure them, ARE WE SUPPOSED TO WAIT 5-6 HOURS and let our fish fucking rot ? Loved this little gem in pine! Booked the campsite for an RV but had some mechanical issues last minute and Diane the host was super kind and let us set up tent and camp we loved the surrounding woods with deer greeting us with our morning coffee.. the sounds of the creek were wonderful and even went in a nice quick hike alongside the first day. It rained pretty steady the next few days, but still was a great place to camp.. even caught a few trout that her gdtr cleaned for us! Sweet little family owned operation! The trout ponds even had a goose family with ducklings.. it was a picturesque slice of heaven. Make sure to stop and get a coffee and mini donuts from James.. his set up is right on property and was a nice touch.. definitely will return again! Thanks Diane! The website and pictures mentioned a bathroom so I made a reservation. Upon arrival in the evening to our campsite there was nothing not even a port-a-potty. I walked to the check-in place but no one was around. I paid $35 because I wanted a toilet to use. I emailed to see about a refund but have not heard back and doubtful that I will. read more

Made a reservation online and triple checked about fire rules and current bans. Started a fire and was told that the fire department was on their way and that it wasn't allowed even though the signs and website said otherwise. The meth head that runs the place also told us to never come back. I really hope it was an isolated incident but I'm pretty sure they just scam people from out of town. We were there for 10 minutes and she looked like she was gonna murder us when we asked for a refund. Sleep on the side of the highway can't dog on this place enough. read more

Great little spot right off 285 to fish with your littles and have a fun time! We came and spent about 45 min caught two fish and paid 35$ all said and done. Couldn't have been happier. My kids had a great time! They also have camping available read more

Nothing special at all. I will most likely not stay here again. If you are there for the camping experience and want to enjoy a little seclusion, this is not the place. It's essentially a large dirt parking lot you are camping in. There is a state park near by, and if you are only using the camping area to sleep at while hiking or biking, then this would be ok for that. read more

I wish I had read the previous reviews before I booked this place. But we had already driven close to 500 miles and we were tired and just wanted a nice place to pull in and relax and sleep. And the website made it sound great. It was dark and rainy when we got here and we didn't see the entrance so drove 3-4 miles past. I called and was told to turn around and look for the turnoff right before getting back on 285. We found the entrance and drove in but nothing was marked and it was hard to see where to go. We finally figured out where to go and drove into the park looking for an office or somewhere to check in. There were old trailers along one side and lots of junk/trailers/cars on the other side. I thought we were in the wrong place. I called again and was told we were in the right place and that we could just pull up to one of the meters and park vs going to the site we had booked. We ended up staying because we were exhausted but I won't ever come back. We were charged over $50 to plug in. No bathrooms and we couldn't find the dump station. simple and clean. we had a nice two night stay here. we we're out during the day so we didn't really get to experience the pond or anything busy. nights were quiet and the place is clean and looks great. they could use a bit more signage for check in, or more detail on the post booking email, but that's minor. the light post at the site was difficult as it stays on all night and shone right In the windows, wish it had an off time. based on previous reviews I was skeptical and ended up pleasantly surprised. read more

Too bad 1 star is as low as I can go here. This place should have a negative star rating. Total scam. It's a nasty muddy lot that looks like a homeless shelter. One side is populated by full timers in old decrepit rv's with whiskey tango hillbillies watching you like you're fresh bait. The other side is a mudhole that smells of sewage. We pulled in, took one look, and headed to Denver, didn't even attempt to get a refund. I would not have felt safe there overnight. DON'T STAY HERE! read more

We live in Colorado and I love to fly fish. I have taken my son fishing every year and for the last six years he has not caught any fish or I should say Trout. He had a Trout block, was 17 years old and was convinced he was never going to catch a trout again. So this year I thought about Rainbow Roundup. I have driven past this place dozen and dozen of times over the years. Back in my early 20's I used to fish all the time. But I also had trout block. While stationed in Germany, my platoon Sargent suggested we hit a private trout pond very similar to this place. It worked, I caught my first trout ( yes I had to pay per inch), but ever since then I have been catching trout, and now I catch trout on a dry fly ( much harder). My son caught 5 very nice trout today. He no longer has a trout block. He is more confident with his fishing. Yes we paid by inch - but well worth it. The place was crowded, with lots of kids. All were very excited to catch fish. Great place. Lots of fish could be seen from shore which made it very exciting for the little kids Phil cleaned and prepared the fish. He did a expert job. He was friendly and talked with everyone. read more

We were traveling and have family in Conifer so we thought we would stay a few days at this place. We had our grandkids with us and thought the fishing would be good. Fishing pond was never open when it was suppose to be, finding the office was a joke it is located in the home and NOT WELL marked. If you call the number no one answers. We pulled in and figured we would pick a spot and then worry about the office later. This was NOT anything like I expected broke down trucks a travel traler that was leaning and the pop out wasn't out. We didn't want to look at that so we went past to find a spot but seems having run down trailers is the speciallty. We hooked up to electric and water but the water was not working. After setting up our rig we had to pull everything back in to drive down to get water in the tanks so we could have water. Once we got settled we started to walk along the creek to see trash and TONS of dog waste. As if that wasn't bad enough while we were walking two dogs came running up to us per the policy we read prior to booking all dogs had to be on a leash. My grandson is affraid of dogs and this was a horriable experance for him. As walking we came to a point where it was uncovertable to walk further as people have chairs and other items set up as if it was there section of the creek. The final straw was during the night we could hear several people outside until at least 1:30am drinking, and being very loud. My husband went to ask them to keep it down but said they all looked shady they were at a trailer with cars that were being worked on and beat up cars around. We stayed two nights and it would have only been one if I could have gotten a spot elsewhere for night two. There were a few people that seemed very nice that were there my guess was they were only there for a night due to having a nice rig. Bottom line was this was not welcoming did not feel safe and fishing is diffecult due to the shop always being closed. It would be a nicer place if they followed some of the policies listed on the website and required people who are staying to clean up and not intemadate anyone passing through. I would NEVER recommend this location while current owner and or mangement is changed. If you must go lock everything you bring. read more

Overcharged: 4 people, 3 rods and 1 fish. $30. Per website should have been $5 less. One rod didn't work well. Really came to entertain ourselves for an hour or so. Caught one fish. Gave it to our neighbors and the place still charged us. Pretty sure they charged the people we gave the one fish to as well. Had a decent time until we were taken advantage of. read more

Also known as Rainbow Trout Ranch and Campground. This was one of the worst experiences I have had camping in Colorado. I'm pretty sure the 5 star reviews are done by the owner - what a dump!! We were charged over $50 per night for 1 spot. This place has worse than nothing. The campground is a mess - one side full of old broken campers, with shady looking people living full time. The other side of the one open, muddy parking lot had a few electrical hookups and water (sometimes). That's it! No bath/shower house, no nice clean parking spot, literally, nothing but one dirty parking lot with broken down full timers on one side. The dump station was a complete mess. This is nothing short of a scam for unsuspecting campers - who pay in advance on their website. $50 in Colorado should get you at least clean campsites, with grass or trees, electric, water, sewage, cable tv and a nice bath/shower house with a general store - and probably a pool for the kids. Went there today and had so much fun with my friends that like me have various physical and mental disabilities. The staff was super nice and helpful and taught us some interesting information about the fish and their business. Super duper fun place to go fishing and not need a license to do it. read more

Fun little fishing whole. The owners were very nice. It is a bit expensive, about 10 dollars a fish, but to see the kids eyes light up when they finally caught something after being skunked for two days was well worth it. My advice is to have one pole at a time or you will catch 100 bucks worth of fish in 10 minutes. read more

Would give 0 stars. Everybody thinks they're running the place, nobody is. Was told yesterday that the owner decided he didnt charge enough? Um, no. Paid in advance, cash, for a month. No paperwork, had to ask for a receipt. Left with them out even knowing. Bunch of people live there, bunch of trashy people. Zoning issues all over the place, for example- 1 full timer has a HUGE propane tank outside his bus- illegal. Have fun with these nut jobs if you choose to stay here, and dont use the porta potties, not cleaned 1 time in a month, not twice a week. What a mess! read more
