I BARELY will write reviews for businesses, even if I have a bad experience. But I really felt compelled to write about how awful the experience was that I had here. I had told the receptionist before coming in that my cat had hurt her leg and was barely walking on it, hissing and yowling when I touched it.
When I get there the day of the appt., there's barely any intake and it's very dingy inside. I should have taken this as a sign but I try not to judge a place by its appearance. After all, some of the best food places look awful on the outside. But this time, my instincts were correct. After waiting for over a half hour for my appointment, the vet comes in. He asks me what's wrong with my cat (almost disdainfully sounding, I almost got the feeling he does not like cats). He asks me to pick her up and set her on the ground so he can see if she puts pressure on her hurt leg. She's freaked out and obviously hesitant, so I have to coax her into walking a little. He just stands there silently watching me awkwardly struggle to make my pissed off cat walk.
After a moment, he asks me to pick her back up and put her on the table. She's hissing at this point, and they put a super thick, heavy cone on her head. He then proceeds to grab her (VERY HARD) by the fur/skin on her back. I know you can and should grab cats by their scruff when they're aggressive, I do it sometimes. This was not the scruff. This was her shoulderblade skin. He then proceeds to feel THE WRONG FOOT for about 6 seconds, while she howls and hisses at him (not once did she take a swipe, my baby doesn't scratch ever). She pees herself, probably out of fear because she is being manhandled by this guy with absolutely 0 compassion or care. He lets her go and backs off, while she is sitting in her own pee.
He then tells me, in a very laxidasical way, that he cannot continue the physical exam unless she is put under anesthetic. He also said they can't clip her nails unless shes' put under. I think this is stupid as hell, because what vet doesn't know how to handle a scared cat? Even his vet assistant had more courage, picking her right up when she weighed her. But I say okay....can we do that then so she can get an actual exam and I can make sure her leg is okay? Nope. He has "too many patients today", I could leave her there and come back at 6 if I wanted and he'd probably have time.
Like hell was I going to leave my poor cat with this soulless excuse for a vet. She's normally very good with vets, I think she just sensed his clear hatred of cats and his manhandling. All this, mind you, while my poor cat is still sitting in her own urine. There's a lot of awkward pauses while the vet just stares at me, forcing me to say something like "....so...is she okay to keep walking on it....?"
Long story short, he still charged me the full visit. I paid $65 for this guy to touch my cat's leg once, hurt her, and then not even offer to help when he made her piss herself. I was honestly speechless. I don't recommend this place at all and I certainly will stay away like the plague.
Speaking of the plague, not a single employee was wearing a mask in the very small, cramped rooms. read more
