Wish I could go lower than 1 star. Since Lash retired some of the office staff, mere phone jockeys,…read morehave imagined theirselves Vets. Their arrogance is beyond belief. So after 35 years I've had to seek another Vet office. Where high school graduates don't start giving orders.

First off I wanted to say that my family and I have been members of this clinic for 14 plus years…read more Being that we have known many of the Drs and nice staff members I felt as though I was able to entrust them with my dog (who is my entire world). You should be able to trust your vet that that are doing what is best for your pet and in many cases another member of your family. You trust that they are taking their time to make sure they are doing everything possibly necessary, that they are doing their job to the very best of their abilities and not cutting corners. The bottom line is you are putting your pet's lives in their very hands. Before Monday April 10th I had never had a bad experience (even though a family member of mine had previously where they almost caused them to lose their dogs life as well), she had surgery on her teeth and the basics of shots and check-ups. I made a last-minute appointment Monday because my dog hurt her leg Saturday and had been limping since. Dr. Mark W. Beere was my Dr that day, I was not familiar with him. During the exam which lasted maybe 5 minutes, he shoved my dog down when she was struggling to lay down because of her hurt leg, felt her leg up and basically said something about the lines of she messed up her knee take some pain meds for it, but she'll maybe needs surgery, but schedule it anyway. I was very confused, I asked a few more questions and he basically tip toed around answers. I left there feeling completely confused, not even understanding what was wrong with my poor baby and what I needed to do. I decided to get a second opinion. The second vet took their time, thoroughly examined her, explained everything to me and made sure I had a full understanding of what was wrong. The worst part of all this is that the other vet chose to take some extra tests and thank goodness because they caught my dog has lymes disease. They went back through all my records from Kittanning and found that they NEVER tested her but still vaccinated her yearly. If anyone is not familiar with lymes can go into an animal's kidneys and be fatal. It also causes weakened joints which the vet believes contributed to her knee incident. Why am I explaining this in so much detail? Simply because Kittanning Vets isn't bad when it comes to the basics, however they do not thoroughly make sure they are doing everything according to protocol. Had I not gone for a second opinion I would have never known, the lymes would have spread and I could have lost my dog all because they were careless and took a short cut. Yes, I take the very best care of my dog, she has a flea and tick collar and gets a flea and tick bath every time after a hike and they had been giving her a yearly lymes vaccine, so I assumed she was in good health. They did apologize however an apology only goes so far when it comes to my dogs' health. I will no longer be trusting Kittanning Veterinary Hospital with my dog. I love her too much to have a vet make stupid mistakes that could cost her her life. Be careful and make sure they aren't making the same mistakes with your animals.
