They sent Kiwi to a landfill. In July 2022, I made two payments to River Valley Veterinary Hospital. The first payment was for the euthanization of Kiwi Rose, and the second was for Kiwi to have a pawprint impression made, be cremated, and for her cremains to be returned to us. The cremation was to be performed by Patrick Vereb, owner of Eternity Pet Memorial, as recommended and arranged by River Valley Veterinary Hospital. Vereb sent Kiwi to a land fill, and we received unknown ashes in a ziplock bag from River Valley Veterinary Hospital. The Pennsylvania Attorney General has filed charges against Vereb. He also notified the affected veterinary practices, including River Valley Veterinary Hospital, of what had happened. But no one notified us. I got the news on the radio while driving to work weeks after the Attorney General had told them. They knew they had sent Kiwi to him. I am deeply disturbed by the disrespect Kiwi Rose suffered through this veterinary practice. I will not speculate on their involvement in or knowledge of the cremation fraud as it happened, but they were absolutely aware after the Attorney General contacted them that we had been victimized and they did not say a word to us. What if we had never heard it on the news? Why did we have to stumble upon it ourselves, when they knew they had led us there? It pains me so much to know Kiwi is in a landfill right now. I do not trust people who would act this way with my pet's care. My Aunt had been a client for YEARS. Last night her baby was DYING. We called for an emergency appointment and they turned us away and sent us on a 30 min agonizing drive to Monroeville. Our pet did not make it. Who knows what could have happened if they accepted him, but it would have been a great comfort to our family if he could have been seen by his vet, somewhere familiar, and NOT 30 mins from home. We recently moved to the area and had to find a new vet for our 11-year-old dog, Scout. After a couple of misfires, I ended up at River Valley. From the initial visit, I felt good about taking Scout there. Everyone was kind and compassionate, and you could tell how much they cared. His surgery was last Wednesday, and everything went well. He's now recovering comfortably at home. I was particularly impressed when Dr. Honse called me prior to the surgery to discuss the procedure and what I could expect. They also followed up once he was home to make sure everything was going well. They made the experience as painless as possible, both for me and for Scout. The only place I trust to take my fur babies. From the staff to the veterinarian doctor everyone is always so helpful and caring. The location is also extremely clean. No pet smells at all. Never long wait times either, we are always seen quickly. I think they have reasonable pricing, vet care is never cheap but always worth it. This Vet clinic is awesome. It is very clean and inviting and the office personnel is professional and friendly. I always receive great service here. Prices are reasonable. They also offer emergency appointments if you call them first thing in the morning. There is an up charge for that but it can be a life saver sometimes. I have used that service today and it was great to be seen quickly. I have seen multiple doctors at this clinic and all were friendly and took their time to explain everything to me. This is a great Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Linkenheimer, has been our vet with three of our dogs. He was so great when we had to put our boxer down, it was a very hard thing for us to do. Dr. Hous was also a big comfort when we had to put our Chewie, to sleep he had cancer really bad. i wish I could move them down here to Kentucky with me. First visit ever today. Trust me when I say I googled, read reviews, asked for opinions, made phone calls to every place within a 20 mile radius (no joke) to talk a little with the receptionist about their facility. If they did not have a friendly receptionist when I called to grill (so to speak) with questions, they were automatically crossed off the list. Never seen there before, I called to try and get an appointment for my pup who has been suffering with a cold for far to long, and was completely surprised when she said that they could see her the next day. I found the staff to be pleasant and helpful. My pup is 5 months old today and while normally not shy, she hid under the bench in the exam room and did not want to come out. The tech decided to sit on the floor to coax her out instead of just pulling on the leash, which I am completely grateful for that. Soon they were like old friends. I am assuming the tech must have told the vet this, because he came in and sat right down on the floor with her and began to do his thing. All the while asking me all kinds of questions to make sure he understood the issue. I initially had her at another clinic/hospital and all they wanted to do was push x-rays and their wellness package and when I declined, they made me feel about an inch high. And the visit with them was almost double the cost of River Valley. Dr. L suggested we start with some medicine and only suggested an x-ray if she is not better when the medication is finished. They are not pushy and made suggestions rather than telling me and trying to force me to make a decision that would basically make them more money. I do believe that I have found my vet. read more

I was referred to River Valley to see Dr. Honse. We were seen by Dr. L instead. I found the staff rude, messy and loud. Dr. L is knowledgeable but his demeanor was much to be desired. I am there for treatment of my animal and not for sacarsm. Bedside manner sucked, staff even worse but sucked it up for great quality care. Advice. The doctors are not bad but are not prepared for patients (have not reviewed patient file prior to seeing the patient). Making appointments is almost always pointless as even though they aren't busy the wait past an appointment time is tremendous because, I speculate, they do not document records efficiently and the vet technicians are more interested in socializing than having good customer service. I frequent this vet because of proximity to my home and wish there was another clinic that I could sacrifice a reasonable drive for because I'm certain over six years I have wasted no less than two whole days in their waiting room read more

The doctors, technicians, and office staff are just amazing. After moving back to Pittsburgh a few years ago, I was convinced that I would never find a veterinary hospital that I loved as much as my pet's former clinic. River Valley has exceeded my expectations. They have taken incredible care of my two beloved elderly dogs the past 3 years. With a broken heart, I had to make the extremely difficult decision of euthanizing my pup of 16 years. River Valley made a horrible day bearable. In their peaceful and tranquil comfort room, Rocky passed. Dr. Fitzgerald, Mallory, Lauren, and Bethany were so compassionate and kind. Rocky was cremated and Lauren made the most beautiful photo collage of pictures I had sent her, that when I received his memorial about 5 days later, I smiled for the first time. They continue to provide excellent care to my remaining fur baby. The entire staff has always treated my dogs with respect and caring, as well as myself. Our dog developed an ear infection during the stay-at-home period. We self-managed as long as possible trying to hold out until June to see the vet. It got progressively worse due so we found an ointment online which was universally agreed as a proper solution to tide her over until we could get her an appointment. The order required a prescription from a vet. We called in to request a simple prescription for an ear infection ointment (about as simple of a request imaginable) and were told no. We then inquired as to when we could schedule an appointment to be seen. We were told not until the end of June (a month away). We said we can't allow our dog to suffer for another month simply because they're unwilling to write the most basic of presciptions for us. HERE IS THE GOOD PART: we were then told we could schedule an "urgent care" appointment and be seen sooner. We asked what the difference was. $95 for an "urgent care" appointment ... $50 for a regular visit. So, in summary, this place was willing, in this instance, to allow an animal to suffer in hopes of a higher monetary gain. We called another vet WHERE WE HAVE NEVER EVEN TAKEN OUR ANIMAL BEFORE and were given the prescription over the phone without issue. I hope River Valley reconsiders where their principles lie in the future. read more
