He was unhappy, didn't enjoy going to school, and eventually told us he didn't want to go to any school anymore--especially not an English-speaking school. A friend recommended this preschool, so we decided to give it a try. After just one trial day, he came home and told me: "Mom, I want to go back to that school. I really like it there." That was the first time in a long time we had heard him say something positive about school. Because of how much he liked it, we decided to transfer him here. I was initially a little concerned because it is a bilingual Chinese-English preschool. We had previously tried another bilingual program where English exposure was quite limited, and I worried his English development might slow down. Fortunately, that was not the case at all. The English teachers speak excellent English, and the children receive plenty of English exposure throughout the day. Over time, we saw his English improve significantly while he also continued developing his Chinese. These days, he will sometimes speak English to us at home without being prompted. What impressed us even more was how the teachers handled his separation anxiety. When he first started, drop-offs were difficult. There were many mornings when we had to hold him, comfort him, and help him through the transition. The teachers were incredibly patient and caring. They took the time to understand him, help him make friends, and gradually build his confidence. Little by little, things changed. One day, after he had been at the school for a while, he told me: "Mom, I want to be the first one at school." As a parent, that moment meant everything. Today, he happily goes to school, has close friends, enjoys learning, and talks positively about his teachers and classmates. There are also many practical things we appreciate as parents: - The school app provides daily photos and videos, which gives us peace of mind and helps us stay connected to his day. - Tuition is reasonable compared with many other preschools in the area, and lunch and two snacks are included. - They offer summer camp, backup care, and after-school options, which are incredibly helpful for working parents. - The school closes less often than many other programs, making childcare planning much easier. Ms. Ching-wen, the admin, is incredibly responsible and on top of things, and always kind and supportive to parents. The teachers and staff are dedicated and caring - they encourage kids to develop good habits and become more independent, structure classrooms to optimize learning, and closely monitor playground dynamics. My daughter graduated from all 4 classrooms and loved all her teachers, growing especially close to her Room 3 teachers this past year. One of the nice things is there is a sense of continuity even as the kids move classrooms since the teachers are still around and say hi and hug the kids, which is heart-warming. The breadth and depth of information the kids learn is impressive. We were pleasantly surprised to discover that much of what is taught in Growing Tree is covered in public kindergarten. One of things I really liked was that while Growing Tree is academic, it is also fun and well-rounded. There were many times I wished I could go. Every holiday is celebrated with great fanfare, there are themed weeks where kids dress up and bring books/toys from home, community speakers like local law enforcement & firefighters (yes they bring the truck), cooking activities, lots of crafts, and bounce houses & popsicles in the summer. The parents are also very involved and giving - relationships with other parents form quickly if you socialize. Growing Tree also has class events / performances where you may be coincidentally seated next to your child's friends' parents. Looking back at old photos, I appreciate all the ways they are so thoughtful. They frequently share photos and videos of school events and pictures of your child so you are up-to-date on what's going on. I also really appreciate how the communication was always open between parents and teachers / staff. If you have a question or concern, you can just ask at the next drop-off / pick-up, email, or call - they are quick to respond in all channels. Teachers / staff will pro-actively let you know if anything comes up. It's kind of amazing with so many kids but they really do know what's going on with every child every day. We felt like we knew exactly where our daughter stood in terms of development and she's well prepared for kindergarten (one of the reasons why we kept her at growing tree instead of going to TK). From our experience, the focus now seems to be shifting more toward business growth and efficiency rather than maintaining the same level of care and parent partnership that originally made this place special. There has also been substantial staff turnover over the years, and the overall environment feels very different now. More recently, interactions with staff have at times felt rude, defensive, and unnecessarily accusatory, which has been disappointing after being loyal customers for so long. It honestly made me sad to eventually transfer my kid to another daycare nearby, where things have been going smoothly without any issues. To be fair, I understand experiences may vary by branch and staff members, and other locations may still provide excellent care. This review reflects only our direct experience with this particular location. I also respect that the business may have a different interpretation of circumstances, but this has been my direct experience and feedback as a parent since the beginning of this year. I hope management takes parent feedback seriously and works toward rebuilding the caring and supportive culture that originally made Growing Tree such a wonderful place for families.

I love how the location has bright, colorful walls and the entryway is mostly windows so it lets in a lot of natural light. Also, the dance and yoga classes take place in a small studio nook with proper wood flooring and mirrors, which is a nice and professional touch! Teachers are highly qualified- most are certified in other states or have their CA clear credential, or are retired teachers/subs. Some are bilingual, which makes it easier to communicate with families/parents, but all are very caring and take the work and the kids very seriously- snacks and homework help/support are provided to all students in addition to the aforementioned fun electives. This is a convenient program that will bus your kids over from many nearby schools, including Stocklmeir, Cherry Chase, Collins, West Valley, Faria, and Garden Gate. Good mix of kids and ability levels, though most are pretty advanced. Great place to consider if your kids' school is nearby and you can get to the location around 6pm from your work for pickup.

All the teachers have been fantastic! My eldest's first teacher was Mrs. Fang and I thought she was the best teacher possible, so patient and caring, and taught the kids so much. However, I later realized that all their teachers are very good! I was a little worried initially when I found out my younger kid's first teacher wouldn't be in Mrs. Fang's class but again was pleasantly surprised that Mrs. Celia and Mrs. Gul are just as great and he has adapted incredibly fast. The teachers really care for the kids and have immense patience too. He isn't potty trained now, but I imagine like for my eldest, the teachers at Little Tree will train him before he's 3. I remember dreading doing potty training and by the time I thought about starting, turns out they had been practicing at school already so I didn't have to put in any effort. Academics wise I have been incredibly impressed too. They learn a lot of Chinese language and cultural things including poems which I can barely understand. For English, I tried to teach my kid the ABCs and reading the BOB books but over the years I have learned I don't have to do much actually since school has prepares them well. After just 2.5 months I can see my 2 year old has grown a lot and can sing the ABCs, learned to clean up, and communicates much better. My eldest in TK age can really well and even reads me stories now. One of her classmates that changed schools a few months back told me that the new school is not nearly as advanced and didn't realize how much our kids had learned there. When my eldest started transitioning to the next class, I really appreciated how the teachers would take her over to the new class and let her check out the place for 1-2 weeks before the transfer so she can get familiar slowly. The teachers also check that the kids are actually ready to be moved up both emotionally and academically. This was in contrast from my friend's preschool when they would just move kids once they were at the age, and her kid ended up adjusting very well and couldn't catch up with the older kids. We had several transitions and each time very smooth. I also like how the school really celebrates all the holidays and puts on great shows throughout the year, with the Christmas holiday performance being one of the biggest ones. I love watching the kids sing and dance in both English and Chinese. Lastly, the director Mrs. Amanda and teachers are all very cautious with the kids. I get notified if my kids have some scratches or bruises even if they were there in the morning when they got to school. If they fall or bump themselves, they will also tell me. One time my kid got a little pebble up her nose and they were very worried, calling me that they were trying to get her to sneeze it out or else I would need to take her to the doctors. I trust Little tree to take care of my kids well. I know I wrote a bit of a long essay but I just have a lot of positive things to say about them. Overall, highly recommend sending your kids here! Ms Alice is passionate about ensuring that the students have a solid understanding of the foundational math concepts. I say that out of my own personal experience. I know because of the Kumon Math Program, our older one was always placed in an advanced math course(s) in Middle and High school. They constantly encouraged our daughter to maintain a Kumon routine (like brushing your teeth everyday) despite her school work load and a very hectic after-school competitive synchro swim schedule. They worked very closely with our daughter to adjust her Kumon work as and when needed. Thanks to their constant encouragement and personal attention, our older one completed all of the Kumon Math levels by the time she started her High School sophomore year. Now I see the same level of commitment to our younger one (In 6th grade - middle school). My younger one has tried to quit a few times, especially when she is moved to the next math level. Each time, Ms Alice will take out a considerable amount of time to speak with our younger one to assess the root cause and then find a creative way to create a win-win option.
