I am a high school student who is taking Mandarin classes every year in my school, and Ms. Huang has been an essential tutor for my learning this semester. In our sessions, she customizes the lesson plan to suit my personal goals, practices active speaking drills, corrects my tones constructively, and uses visual associations to memorize characters with their English counterparts. Her teaching styles made it so that my test scores went from B's and C's to constant A's. I ended off the semester with a comfortable A, all thanks to her help. I remember when I was so stressed about taking the final semester exam this year, especially since I failed my last one. Fortunately, Ms. Huang was there to lead me through with custom made questions and advice with common grammar mistakes. Because of her help, I passed with flying colors. read more

Not ready to give up my wife's dream of having our daughter learn to speak Chinese in an English-speaking household, we found Ms. Huang through Yelp reviews, and it didn't take long at all after our non-Chinese speaking daughter started working with Ms. Huang that we can see clearly that our daughter will be able to learn to speak, read and write Chinese with Ms. Huang's tutoring. Ms. Huang is not only a very experienced Chinese teacher, but she also possess the talent and patience to work with kids of all different ages and abilities. She is able to somehow make my daughter's Chinese class fun and interesting, so my daughter enjoys going to her Chinese class every time! I can honestly say Ms. Huang has become a very important member of my kids' village of trusted adults, and we consider ourselves so fortunate to have found Ms. Huang to teach my children. read more

Ms Huang is the best Chinese teacher my two kids have had in the Cupertino area and we get her help for 10+ years. She helped my older child (who has hard time focusing on her studies) to prepare for the AP Chinese exam and my child scored a 5. She helped my younger child (who's a year-round athlete and does not like studying Chinese) studying Chinese on weekly basis, engaging his interest via 1:1 and group lesson and preparing him to feel confident taking his high school's Chinese placement test. Thank you Ms. Huang!! read more

We are so lucky to have found Ms. Huang. What sets Ms. Huang apart from other Chinese learning centers is that each of her lessons incorporate personalizing learning. All the content she creates is tailored to my son's interests. She knows how to create meaningful activities. And she doesn't give him too much homework so it's not overwhelming. At home, I was surprised that my son loves reading Chinese books and learning new words, thanks to Ms. Huang's magical ability to motivate my son to strengthen his Chinese skills. Highly recommend Ms. Huang. read more

My 11 (daughter) and 8 (son) year olds have been going to Ms. Huang's tutoring for about 3 months now. They had previously been in a Chinese preschool and after-school program since they were about 3. We switched because my kids were miserable there. The teachers were really strict and my very sensitive daughter would often be crying or on the verge of tears when I picked them up. Ms. Huang is an awesome teacher. She is very caring and patient, and definitely meets the child where they are at. My daughter started to cry when she messed up on writing (she's a perfectionist) and Ms. Huang backed off and let my daughter approach writing when she gained some confidence and was ready for it. My son has never been a great student, and I'll admit, doesn't like taking Chinese (More school?!? Other kids don't have to go to another school!). One session, my son was being uncooperative and wouldn't participate (he has this problem with regular school, too). Ms. Huang was very patient and spent a long time discussing some alternatives with me and then with my son. She was willing to make his request for earning prizes more quickly, which hopefully will help. I don't think it will change my son's mind about learning Chinese, but I do think it made my son feel valued and respected. We do one on one tutoring and I think this has worked well for my kids so far. My daughter is easily lost in a group setting (even as small as 5), and I can hear her when she does homework and feel like she has progressed well. I felt like my son left the after-school program with barely any language knowledge (because no one held him accountable), but I can tell that he has made a lot of progress since we started tutoring. We don't speak at home, so all the exposure my kids get is through tutoring. read more

Not only is Ms. Huang the best Mandarin teacher my child has ever had, but she is an amazing teacher, period. She always exhibits more dedication, patience, and care towards her students than I can ever expect. My child is not great at focusing on academics; Ms. Huang designs fun activities and always has tricks up her sleeves to motivate him to learn. I am constantly surprised by how much my child acquires in a single lesson, and how much he retains when I randomly check his knowledge during the week. My child has tried a few places before to learn Chinese formally. Ms. Huang's class is the only place I would consider a success in that he picks up Mandarin Chinese in all four areas of listening, speaking, reading, and writing, and more important, he has a positive experience. Furthermore, Ms. Huang's passion shows when she constantly keeps herself up with new textbooks, teaching materials, extra-curricular books, as well as academic research on language learning. She is also generous with her time in communicating with parents so that parents understand how to support their children in between lessons. read more

After finding that so many children hate their Chinese after-school programs, I wanted to find a program where my son would enjoy learning Chinese. I'm happy that we were fortunate to find Ms. Huang's program. After more than a year, my son is still excited about learning new Chinese characters and reading Chinese! He has learned to read and write Chinese characters (we chose traditional) as well as pinyin, and we have started to add basic graded readers. The teacher put together a curriculum based on our goals, and she is wonderful about taking feedback and adapting the class as we go along. I never expected to find a teacher that put so much effort into activities and lessons. She is also very good at working with children. I would recommend Ms. Huang to anyone who is looking for a Chinese class for kids. read more

Mrs. Huang is very patient with her students and is always looking for new ways to encourage her students to learn Chinese. My son didn't like to write Chinese at all but after his first two classes with Mrs. Huang, he was able to write Chinese homeworks himself!! read more

After trying so many different Mandarin programs and teaching formats, I am very fortunate to find Ms. Huang, a teacher whom my son enjoys learning from. When I first approached Ms. Huang to inquire her tutoring program, she patiently talked to me to get a thorough understanding of my son's learning style, background and challenges. She tailors her program to best suit each learner's need. My son used to dislike mandarin so much, and never uttered one word of mandarin after all the times he spent at After School Mandarin Program. But Ms. Huang managed to break the ice and has made learning mandarin a success for him. Not only does my son view learning mandarin as fun, enjoyable and positive experience, but he is also able to read characters (in such a short span of two months), and converse back in mandarin when I randomly checked on him what he learnt in class. To my surprise, he does not even mind taking optional homework of writing Chinese characters at home. I believe all the progress that my son has so far is attributed to Ms. Huang's holistic teaching approach. Ms. Huang is a great educator that makes learning effective for my son through her dedication, care, patience and respect she exhibits. Ms. Huang is also generous with her time. Knowing that we do not speak mandarin at home, at the end of the class, she shares tips and explain to me patiently how I can help / guide my child's learning at home. And she can speak both English and Mandarin proficiently. Highly recommend to all learners! read more

Ms. Huang is an excellent Chinese teacher. She has been helping my CLIP 3rd grader this past year. She is extremely patient with my kiddo 1 on 1. She challenges but isn't the typical harsh one way teacher - "do it my way". This isn't just sit there and repeat repeat repeat and memorize to death. There isn't one way to learn and everyone learns differently. What makes her a _great_ teacher is that she adapts to each student and finds the method that works the best for that student. Our experience was 100% remote but this was still effective. Ms. Huang utilizes all available tools, screen sharing, drawing/pictures, writing tools to be able to convey the subject to the student. Lastly Ms Huang is caring. I can tell that she does truly care about each kid and wants the best for them, not just shove them "through the system" to get a passing grade. If you are looking for a Chinese teacher she is the one!! read more

We found Ms. Huang from a friends recommendation. We've been with Ms. Huang for almost a year now and have been very happy. Both my husband and I are ABC's, so naturally English is our dominant language by far and the primary language at home. In addition, we very much lean towards creative learning and fostering a joy of learning, rather than rote memorization and the strict pedagogy which made me quit Saturday Chinese School growing up. So Ms. Huang is a very personable teacher, that tailored the curriculum to my kids based on their abilities, our home language structure and mixes in fun/creativity, so that my kids look forward to attending Ms. Huang's class each time. I highly recommend Ms. Huang's class for children of any Chinese level and since Ms. Huang is bi-lingual (or more), she can easily communicate with English-only speaking parents as well. read more

My second grader has been in immersion the last two years before we pulled him. However, we really wanted to keep his mandarin going and thank goodness we found Huang lao-shi. Huang lao-shi is a gifted educator who excels at teaching to each child's individual needs and levels. My son, like many kids, absolutely dislikes learning Mandarin given that it is his weaker language. However, under Huang lao-Shi's tutelage, he has continued to grow and expand his ability. She structures her classes with him to inspire and foster his interests, making learning fun. They have written stories together using his vocabulary words, competed together to see who would recognize characters first, and have conversations that pique the interests of seven year old boys. Furthermore, she often takes the time to share with me her perspective on what will continue to help him. Her advice has been absolutely spot on and incredibly helpful to us. read more

Ms. Huang is simply the best Chinese tutor. Before we even started the class, she spent an hour listening to my expectations, working on a tailored lesson plan for my girls. She then spent another hour to meet with my girls to learn about their temperaments and learning style. My girls are 6 and 10, and had very limited exposure to Chinese and never taken Chinese prior to Ms. Huang's. As a result of Ms. Huang's professionalisms and expertises, my girls have made impressive progress in just 3 months. They can understand and participate in basic conversations, recognize some frequently occurring vocabularies. And mostly importantly, they love taking Chinese lessons with Ms. Huang. read more
