A special shout-out to Mrs. Lin, who is truly exceptional at what she does. She's warm and kind with the children while also being firm in the best way, gently guiding them through the Montessori approach. You can tell she genuinely loves the kids and the work. If you have a 2-5 year old, this is such an enriching environment. We feel lucky to have found Villa Montessori and would recommend it to any parent looking for a nurturing, thoughtful preschool. Five stars!

I don't think she is a good saleswoman (someone said that in a review), and I did not see what I had hoped to see in a preschool. (loving atmosphere, caring teachers, happy students, cheerful staff) She is extremely cold and should not be working in a facility where there are small children. She has no caring nature to her and lacks people skills. (a smile would do wonders ya'know?) First off, when I came to the school, she showed me things that I think aren't really important until I've actually enrolled my child there. I was more excited in seeing the classroom and experiencing what the teachings had to offer. She was talking about fire drills/once a month and things that aren't really important until later. It may seem that she is trying to be thorough but I know it's b/c she was stalling for time to go to see the actual classroom and what they are teaching. When I got to the classroom, the children were DEAD SILENT. As a former teacher, I understand children do need quiet time to focus but these are 2-4 year olds!! The director tried to intimidate me by telling me that it was Montessori and that it was bilingual rather than immersion and that I was WRONG for thinking it was immersion. I informed her that the person who I spoke with on the phone told me it was immersion. I don't understand why she was trying to pick an argument over one word! When a couple parents came in about 15 later than 9am, she told me that these parents were 'late' and gave a very disapproving nod! (hello, there are some mornings where people have drs appointments, things come up when you have a small child!) I really wonder if she has had children but it doesn't seem like it! She was so cold to this one boy who forgot to wash his hands after using the restroom. He's 4! I would not want my child to be treated this way. She was also not that nice to my child who was kind of excited to be in the classroom and saying things. She kept telling him to be quiet :( I wasn't terribly impressed by the 2 teachers in the classroom. One didn't interact with the children at all and was only cutting papers. One student who was not sitting quietly (as I was told) was off to the side drawing lots and lots of birds for a good 20-25 minutes (entire time I was there) was not asked to join the activity until I asked the director why she wasn't invited to be mainstreamed with the rest of the children? I have a feeling my son would be that child to be put to the side and then, he would just draw tons and tons of jellyfish. The other teacher facilitating circle time seemed ok but not really excited or happy to be around the children. Her English was extremely difficult to understand but I guess that doesn't matter if you are trying to send your child here to learn Chinese/math. Overall, I would not choose to send my child to this preschool even though I am really looking for a Chinese/English bilingual or immersion preschool. I think this preschool works if your child can sit still for long periods of time and you don't mind such a distant/cold director.

What makes this program exceptional: 1. **Warm, attentive teachers** who know each child well and provide plenty of comfort 2. **Small class size in their 1.5-2 yr old program** ensuring personalized care and close supervision 3. **Convenient 8:30 am drop-off** that works perfectly with our work schedule 4. **Balanced $6 lunch option** featuring protein, vegetables, and fruit 5. **Thoughtful policies** on treats (birthday goodies are given to parents, not children) 6. **Organized curriculum, events, newsletter, Google photo albums of holidays and celebrations shared with parents. Gives me a good pulse on their day to day activities. Ms. Cindy, the principal is hands on. I see her daily zipping between classrooms, dancing and celebrating with them on holidays. Her enthusiasm is infectious through the program staff. Ms. April and Chin-Wen at the front always greet everybody with a warm smile and kind words. The Chinese-English environment has been wonderful - though we don't speak Chinese at home, our little one has started saying Chinese words, counting, and singing their letter sounds ABC songs! We've seen remarkable growth in social skills and overall happiness. I also like their outdoor spaces and bikes/shopping cards/cars. We noticed several families that have sent multiple kids and cousins through the program which speaks to the quality and stability of the program at least in recent years.

We love Growing Tree and wholeheartedly recommend it! Specifically, we go to the "larger site" at…read morethe corner of Prospect and Saratoga-Sunnyvale. There is also the "smaller site" further south on Saratoga-Sunnyvale that has an after school program for elementary aged kids. Our oldest graduated preschool from Growing Tree, our second is currently there, and we have already registered our third to start as soon as he turns 18mo, which both reflects how much we love Growing Tree, as well as to say that we have experienced the whole spectrum, from Room T (18mo +) through Room 3 (TK), from pandemic times (rigorous testing and class cleaning protocols) to the current day (still regular deep cleanings)! Firstly, the teachers are amazing. They are nurturing and discerning. If I were to name and describe each one, this review would be too long. They have fostered curiosity and a strong foundation for learning in our kids, and also taught us how to be better parents. Secondly, the administrative staff is wonderful. This was not a category that I thought would be important when performing daycare tours (yes, I was one of those moms with a daycare spreadsheet and checkboxes), but it makes a huge impact, not only for the kids, but for the parents. The director Ms Cindy somehow knows what is going on with every single child even though she is managing the whole preschool. She is incredibly caring and personal, and that energy permeates to the entire culture of Growing Tree. Paired with the detail oriented and thoughtful administrator Ms Ching Wen, they are a power pair in the kindest of ways. They lead a team of aides who help support the teachers for dozens of art projects, science experiments, educational (and fun!) worksheets. Academically, our oldest was more than well prepared for kindergarten at bilingual elementary school. Socially, they have started practicing at this early age the valuable skill of public speaking with weekly presentations and seasonal performances that are always beautifully prepared, as well as how to be self sufficient individually and play well in pairs or groups. On top of all of this carefully curated curriculum there are extra classes (with extra expense), from clay to sports, that really help working parents not have to shuttle kids to other activities. Even more of a bonus, the restaurant that prepares the kids lunch (totally worth the $6/day) also prepares meals with 3-entrees that families can bring home with their kids at pickup twice a week. In summation, our kids love Growing Tree and so do we as parents. It is a large preschool but feels like a close community. We have made fast friends with families of similar values as us. If Growing Tree were a grade school, we would keep our kids there forever!

The teachers are very caring, generally speaking. If you're not Asian, you may be put off by the cultural piece. We know a couple of kindergarten girls who had a hard time adjusting to how strict the teachers were. While they are strict, they are also very loving and caring. Miss Jerri, the Director, is incredible. She truly cares about each kid that walks into that school. She honestly transforms this place every single holiday. When you are working parent, you don't have the time to decorate your house, so the magic is not really as alive as it could be. At Little Tree, it almost feels magical. For Thanksgiving, for instance, they host a feast for the kids. They also take photos of your kiddos, and send them to the parents during holidays. We had a couple of behavioral issues coming up, probably because the ratio of adult to kid isn't the best, but they were addressed immediately and with good communication. Our daughter does not speak Mandarin at home, but other people think that she is bilingual, based on how well she has learned Mandarin. She even did a solo during the performance! I highly recommend this place. We wish they could offer a pick up service from Oster, but they do offer a pick up service if your school is in the Campbell area. We are moving away, so are devastated that we won't continue at Little Tree, but highly recommend it to anyone looking for a mandarin afterschool program!

Our son attended MAC from September 2024 - June 2025…read more Teachers: We started our son in the green classroom (18 month old start), and he had Ms. Saideh and Ms. Jackie. I really like Ms. Jackie since she is warm towards the kids and is open to giving them a nurturing presence. Ms. Saideh seems a bit colder. I remember during the tour, before my son attended, I asked Ms. Saideh her favorite part of her job , and she looked at me and said that her favorite part was when the students were not crying and instead, were behaving. She didn't smile or laugh, which to me, indicated that she wasn't joking. Her communication wasn't the best either. When there was a glitch in the sign in/out system or if I had forgotten to sign in, she would wave towards me and say "you didn't sign in! You forgot. You need to remember to sign in." I get her point, but saying it in that tone doesn't build good relationships with parents. Positive: I will say that in the midst of our time here, Ms. Biridiana was incredible. She was so kind and loving towards my son and I always felt relief whenever I saw her in the morning, because I knew my son would be in a loving environment under her care (she does the early morning care before 8:30 AM). She would ask me questions and show care for the parents. She and Ms. Jackie were the teachers and staff that really stood out to me. Tone at the top: there is no question that this school is structured quite well and organized quite well. Their calendar is meticulous and they are quick to send parents notifications of upcoming events as well. That said, the verbal communication style is different from ones I've had in the past. There is a certain amount of formality and professionalism, which can be helpful, but also there is an overall lack of warmth. For example, when I ask the Director, Ms. Svetlana how her vacation was, her response was curt, "Good. Yours?" She was responsive, yes. However, that sort of a curt response doesn't generate a feeling of community nor does it build relationships. Unfortunately, MAC does not emphasize social emotional learning, and it is very obvious on the playground next door. I actually have to hover over my child (2 year-old), because at least a handful of times, several students at MAC have pushed him on the playground (both intentionally and unintentionally). The other parents, instead of prompting them to apologize or leave the playground, instead, threaten their kids to leave and get upset with them, but end up staying at the playground. If you care at all about social emotional learning, this is definitely not the school for you or your child. Also: if your kiddo needs diaper cream or has sensitive skin, you will need a doctor's note for even aquaphor to be applied 1x. I asked the reason for their no diaper cream policy and their reason was that if they let us have aquaphor then it would be unfair to others. I still am baffled by this policy. They did cooperate by not giving my son citrus that may irritate his skin, but c'mon now - how harmful is aquaphor? I know other centers that have a one-time physician form that parents fill out that can include aquaphor or desitin, etc. When I was touring this place, Svetlana made it seem as though the waitlist was quite long. I asked if putting in a nonrefundable deposit and paying for the entire month of September when his start date would be September 23rd would help. She said it would. I made that choice because per the reviews it seemed as though this place was worth paying for the entire month of September when he started so late that month. I regret that choice now.

The school also hosts fantastic events throughout the year that bring families together and make learning even more fun.
