Starbright School has been incredible for our family. My daughter thrived through preschool and is graduating kindergarten confident, independent, and reading--proud of everything she accomplished from starting in a theater play to Lego Robotics. My younger son just started TK and runs into school each day, excited to share his art/projects, games him and his friends will invent and all yummy food. My daughter attended this school since she was 2 years to old and we recently had to move her to another school for commute reasons. The teachers are very kind and love what they do. Most teachers have been with them for a long time. Office teachers were always kind- during pick up and drop off and they knew each child by their name. Since my daughter started during covid times. I wasnt allowed inside. I was able to communicate with her teachers to get an idea of what she does through the day. They did share pictures on a regular basis and I saw her happy. Ms. Marianna was also quick at responding to emails and phone calls. My daughter was very fond of their fresh organic food. I learnt how to make buckwheat and lentil soup from their chef- he was so happy and showed me the same. He even invited me to have lunch with the kids to get a taste of their food. They had one recital each year and that was great according to me. Children really performed at 4 years which I have never seen before. The theatre experience was something unique and wonderful they offer. Overall, the daycare is very clean and teachers are very caring. The fact that I cried as a parent clearing her cubby should speak about how attached my daughter and I were to this school. She wants to come back to starbright and we happily will if it wasnt for the commute! read more

We had two children go through Starbright School and were extremely happy with the outcomes. Our daughter attended from the age of 2 to 7, and our son from the age of 2 to 4. They were first at the San Jose campus and for the past year at the Campbell campus. Starbright excels in academics, while also providing lots of extra curricular activities, with a particular focus on music, dance and theater. Our experience with teachers and staff was very positive, and we always felt that not only were our children well looked after, but also that the school sincerely cared for them. Similar to international schools you'd find in Europe, instruction was in English, however lots of students are multilingual and come from a variety of different backgrounds. We saw this as a huge benefit. As our children move on to their next school we have no doubt that Starbright provided an exceptional foundation for their continued growth academically and as individuals. This is an update after 4 years at SB, from the youngest group all the way through kindergarten. Our older son graduated from kindergarten and the younger one will be in pre-K. Kids absolutely love SB. Teachers are there because they LOVE kids and their job. Teachers and other staff are very friendly, kind, compassionate. They get to know the whole family very quickly and greet you with a warm smile every morning. Their academics and extracurricular are truly excellent for all age groups. Dance, lego, theatre, gymnastics - kids loved all these activities. Kindergarten was phenomenal: our son couldn't wait for Mondays to go back to school. He absolutely loved the projects and everything else his teachers did: sharing days, movie nights, reading logs to name a few. He was reading at level 4 towards the end of kindergarten even before turning 6. Miss Yuliya and Ms Veronika aspired him to read religiously to fill his reading log every night :) He made them cards at different times saying how much he loved them and what they did in class. We were very pleasantly surprised by his writing skills by the end of kindergarten. His theatre, dance, lego and other enrichment experiences were wonderful. When we asked what he liked most of all, he always named every enrichment class he was enrolled in :) The place is very clean, the rooms are bright, colorful and spacious. They cook for kids, no need to pack any food. Teachers go above and beyond with little things: our younger kid is a horrible eater, and they make extra effort for him to eat his lunch and snacks. Our kids got very attached to their teachers in every class, and we worried a bit about their transition to the next grade every time. However, SB somehow does their magic and the kiddos adjusted to the new classes really fast. They have no summer break, so no headache with summer camps. And the pick up time is 6 pm, which is pretty good. We are very happy and grateful to all wonderful hardworking people who make this place magical. These were incredible four years, and our older kid feels very well prepared for his next journey. Lastly, the kids and families we got to know are very nice and make a wonderful little community. We are so happy with choosing Starbright as our pre-school and highly recommend it: it will make wonders for your kids. It definitely has for ours. read more

There are literally no words to describe how much my family loves Starbright! We have been going to Campbell Campus since 2012 (preschool, Kindergarten and after school program with 2 kids) and every day we are just more and more fascinated with the way they do things. We were particularly impressed with how well they handled COVID19 school closures. The entire curriculum including most enrichment classes was moved online so seamlessly that i barely noticed my kid being at home for 3 months. How many parents can say that? Extremely well planned out zoom sessions and no work for parents other than printing out work sheets was truly impressive! They even did a life stream graduation for K class which was something we completely did not expect to happen and they pulled it off as beautifully as everything else they do! The cherry on top of all that was when they announced that they are opening an Elementary school as well which we enrolled in immediately and can't wait for it to start! Given the uncertainty that most parents face right now when it comes to next school year, i am beyond happy to say that i am not worried at all right now! Our family has two children that have attended Starbright School for 4+ and 3+ years, from the time they were 2 years old. Words can't describe our gratitude for the care, attention, and quality of education that our children receive each and every day while at Starbright. We love Starbright! My son has been attending since he was 2, and is now in after school there. My daughter is currently there in TK. They've enjoyed every minute of it. Every morning they are excited to get to school. I've never heard a single complaint from them in the last 5 years. I have a feeling that tears will be shed once the kids get too old to attend... and not just by the kids. The school is clean and well structured. The food is freshly prepared daily, on-site. The teachers are so amazing that my husband and I sometimes feel jealous :) of some lessons that our kids get to learn. In addition, the level of their musical theater and dance program is above and beyond most stand-alone professional schools. While the theater building, which the kids perform in, that is part of the school is better than many local venues. We are so lucky to have this school in our neighborhood, because many people drive up-to an hour to Starbright. Others just end up in mediocre preschools. read more

The place is excellent place for kids. Their education system is great. My daughter learns many things that we couldn't teach. I observe huge difference between Starbright School vs other schools attendees. It is realy convenient for working people. The hours are 7:30-18:00. The provide high quality food that my daughter eats. The food is not junk food. The facility is clean and neat. The staff maintain All Health and safety protocols, including Covid. A year after and I can still say this is the best school and the best part are the teachers and the staff! Mrs Marianna follows up on every single question, details and maintains outstanding communication with parents so we are in the known for everything. For instance she would check on my son during his art class to make sure he likes it, she would check on him at lunch to let me know how much he eat etc. Mrs Sveta is always so warm and welcoming. She is super helpful and resourceful. Mrs Jane and Mrs Lena are caring, and empower kids to learn and do things on their own. They are also keen on helping the child develop. For example when I had concerns about stuttering, Mrs Jane tried to talk to my son more often at different time of the day to see if this was developmental or because he was tired. The school has amazing policies, e.g they don't take kids outside when it's too hot or too cold. There ask kids to eat fruits before cookies :-). This is an excellent school! Both my son and daughter attended from ages 2 to 5, and they have greatly benefitted from all that Starbright has given them. We had a wonderful experience with Starbright School's campus in Campbell. Our three-and-a-half-year-old attended there for over a year (until we moved and the commute to Campbell became untenable). He has progressed academically at an accelerated rate and his experience at Starbright obviously helped. His background is not Russian, but he learned a number of Russian words as well. Additionally, the teachers were warm, caring, and very attentive. Our son developed great relationships with them and with his friends there. It was also quite a pleasure seeing him perform with his classmates at the recital at such an early age. The school is kept remarkably clean and tidy, and our son learned great habits of cleaning up. We also appreciated them inviting him to try out some of their extracurricular offerings at no charge, to see if he would take to them. Our son went to Starbright for 2 years. He thoroughly enjoyed being here and would come to greet me at the end of each day with a huge smile on his face. The teachers and staff are very accommodating, caring, and professional. They do interesting projects each day which taught our son writing, letters, shapes, etc. they also feed the kids lunch and give them snacks, which is a huge bonus. We started going to Starbright when my son just turned 3. With the help of fantastic staffs of Starbright, we had a very smooth transition. My son acquired many skills there and he loved his school and especially his music and gym classes. Mariana and the teachers were always available to talk and address any concerns we might have. Starbright is the Sorbonne of children care in the Valley. Before we enrolled our daughter to Starbright, we explored a lot of options and decided to give Starbright a try. Four years and two kids later, we are still grateful for that day when we decided to enroll them there. Where do I start? Well...education would be a good starting point, I guess. Starbright has an incredibly strong academic program that combines formal education, playing, art, and friendship among children in order to achieve perfect results. My wife and I decided that we would not push any academic agenda at home until our daughter turns six. One day, when she was like four and a half, I came home and saw her holding a book and talking. I thought that she was pretending to read and found it extremely cute until I realized that she was, actually, READING! When I asked her who taught her that, she said: Daddy, you know. Starbright! We could not believe. A year later, she built on it in Starbright's kindergarten and she is now a first grader, sailing through the materials with no issues whatsoever. Starbright's emphasis on art and music turned out to be second to none. Children are taught, from an early age, how to behave on stage, how to perform, and how to build confidence. Their annual shows, productions that are put together in their own Starbright Theater, could easily be played in the Carnegie Hall. Costumes, selection of music, dances, and voices that these little kids put on a display are leaving everyone speechless. Safety of the kids is their #1 priority. State of the art video surveillance, buzzers, auto-locks and many other features put parents at ease at Hello. Food is prepared on site by the real cooks and kids love it. The playground is huge, beautiful, and safe. Classrooms are bright, fun, and spacious and the teachers are monitoring every step of their students. After almost 4 years at Starbright, my daughter will soon graduate Kindergarten. It's been a wonderful experience for her and us as parents! As part of our search for a pre-school, my wife and I looked at 25+ different pre-schools in the area. When we toured Starbright and talked with parents from the school, we soon made this the school we compared all other against. Those qualities that stood out the most for us were, the cleanliness, daily routine, prepared meals in their own kitchen, positive parent feedback, and most importantly, the kids were all quite happy. In the years that my daughter has been there, the most important life skill she's picked up is the joy of learning. Starbright provides a well-rounded program that incorporates language and arts alongside math and reading. They leverage their onsite theatre for performances twice a year. I've been amazed how well these performances turn out given how young the kids are. The weeks leading up to the Spring performances, my daughter will sing the songs in the car and at home. She gets so excited and proud! I've been very pleased with the academic program. She's a fluent reader at age 5 and was recently "teaching" me how to add fractions. They have weekly homework in Kindergarten and monthly goal for reading books. There are a fair number of Russian speaking students. We don't speak Russian and I wasn't sure how well this dynamic would work out. It's turned out to be positive. We've enrolled her in the Russian class at Starbright and she's picked up an ear for learning this new language. I have no idea what she's saying when she comes home reciting a poem in Russian but I'm proud that she's picked up another life skill, learning languages. Our daughter will be graduating Kindergarten this summer and we're evaluating schools for her to attend 1st grade. We didn't visit 25 schools this time, but we have looked at quite a few. One theme we're seeing is the quality reputation Starbright has with the elementary schools in the area. A common piece of feedback we've received is that the Starbright kids come in well ahead academically and socially. This solid foundation has given us confidence that she will thrive no matter where we send her next. Lastly, I want to comment on the teachers at Starbright. They are what makes the program successful. Their passion for teaching is evident and my daughter has enjoyed learning because of the enthusiasm they bring to the classroom every day. read more

Our daughter has been at Starbright for almost 2 years now and we could not be happier. Starbright is one of the select few full-service centers that encompasses all aspects of a child's developmental needs. We have especially been pleased with the various extra-curricular activities that the center offers to its students; be it soccer, arts, music, math & science, or dance. The annual recitals and the school's emphasis on arts and music are amazing. It is also one of the cleanest facilities that we have seen thus far. The meals that they provide are healthy, organic, versatile and change with items that are in-season. It is also great that they have a dedicated lunchroom so kids can enjoy their meals in a family setting while ensuring that the classrooms are mess-free. It is truly endearing to note that kids are changed to their jammies prior to their nap time. The teachers take the extra step to ready the kids after their nap as well. For girls especially, teachers take time to braid the hair; some hairdos are elaborate. I personally believe that all these actions speak to the teachers' attentiveness and care. Even those who aren't the class teachers are caring and attentive. My daughter thrives on their love & attention. I would like to take this opportunity to respond to a recent comment by one of the reviewers about non-Russian kids feeling alienated. We are a non-Russian family ourselves and have had the opposite experience. Given that this is a bilingual school, we understand that there may be some emphasis on the Russian language. However, the teachers or staff members have not alienated non-Russian kids but appear to have nurtured them to ensure that they do not feel left out. Our daughter appears to have embraced their culture. We have also noticed that many of the kids in my daughter's class are from non-Russian families; there appears to be a good mix of cultures which, we believe enhances a child's development. We have recently begun scouting for a daycare for our son, who is a little over a year old. We have visited many centers but continue to be disappointed as none of the facilities appears to match up to the excellent program that Starbright offers. Wish that the center would enroll kids under 2 years of age :) We look forward to placing our son when the time comes! We highly recommend the school! read more

Your kids will be getting a great education and preparation for their next 12 years. Starbright also offers amazing after school programs! I was in theater for 11 years. I actually got a scholarship I my university because I wrote a personal statement based on the theater program. I know most of the teachers at the Campbell location but I know all at the Albany one. Our son went to starbright for about 5 months before we pulled him out. It is a decent school but is not meant for everybody. There are a number of pros like it is clean, food is good, has good structure and is well equipped. The biggest con is the coldness or lack of enthusiasm in teachers, especially in the toddler sections. If your kid needs an enthusiastic hi or a warm smile/hug once in a while then this place is not for you. The teachers are nice in their own way but they seem a little too strict. They also speak in Russian to majority of the kids and to one another so if you are non Russian, there is a high possibility of feeling left out. Our kid was extremely stressed and still cries that he doesn't want to go to school. As I mentioned earlier, it could work for some but it unfortunately didn't work for us. As a side note, our son is used to day cares and has been attending one since 10mo of age. read more

My only slight complain is not much of a outdoor space, grassy field where the kids can run around on the grass etc. Not much they can do about it but i would've loved it if there were more open space with trees, flower beds, grass... nature! My two daughters have attended Starbright since age 2. Older after completion of K program has been placed in highest groups for English and for Math. Younger one has picked her favorite enrichment programs and enjoying K program to the fullest. Nurturing environment, understanding teachers, strong academics has created a strong edge for parents to be able to provide for their children for the future. Money Hungry!!! This will be short and sweet since they wasted a lot of my time already. The administrator on the phone kept emphasizing $1700 tuition, which was the least of our worries. I specifically inquired for kindergarten, the teacher tested him and he placed accordingly then the admin said she had NO room. "Why have my son go through the hoops??" Tour us around, me talking my son to liking the school and say they had no room for him!!!! She then later called me 3 weeks after and said there was a spot. A parent probably got some sense into them and pulled their child out. My son was very traumatized! And now I am here giving them a piece of my mind. read more

I don't really yelp, however i take it as a personal obligation to review and comment about the place where my child gets education for the first years of his life. Here is couple of pointers. 1) it's a safe place! Which is one of the most if not the most important factor for me at this age. 2) education wise, great place! My kid comes home everyday with new projects which are challenging and also fun for his age. 3) atmosphere. They have an outstanding facility, where they nap and feed kids not on demand but as a responsible parent looking out for their child. 4) Programs offered: they have variety of after school and during school programs, gymnastics, arts, music, etc. Education given to the starbright kids is exceptional. They have a very structured setting, they have their social activities time, nap time, education time. Everything is evenly divided to prepare them for the smooth transition to school. My daughters have attended Starbright for more than 2 and 1/2 years, from age 2 on. We all love this school! This is an academic pre-school, and as such it may not be for everyone. If you want to give your child an environment of complete freedom where they can do whatever they want all day long with no schedule, this is not the school for you. But if you are interested in early education, teaching phonics and math concepts to 4 year olds, teaching letters and sounds to younger kids, and still giving them lots and lots of playtime, this is a great choice, and it worked really well for our kids. Their theatre program is excellent! The kids have so much fun doing it, and they learn at an early age to be comfortable speaking in front others (before they're old enough to realize some people are scared of it :) They offer a cereal breakfast and a hot lunch to all the kids, plus snacks. Parents, of course, can always choose to do breakfast at home and bring their lunches, but we never did. We took full advantage of the food, and my kids are now pretty healthy eaters. The youngest loves soup, which is entirely due to Starbright. (Another warning though, if you're the kind of parent who freaks out over kids eating a few pretzels, you aren't going to be happy with school-supplied food anywhere, and should plan on bringing your own). Most, but not all, of the teachers in the school are bilingual (Russian-speaking), and most of the families in the school are as well. My kids understand Russian, but English is their primary language. And there were some families at the school with no connection to the Russian language at all. It's a mix. They do offer Russian instruction, which we took advantage of! Overall, the educators are very good with the kids, the program offers a lot of enrichment, and kids will be very well prepared for kindergarten. We love this school! read more

My daughter has been going to Starbright school for 2 years now. I have nothing but great things to say about this school! The Campbell campus has wonderful facilities - bright, clean rooms with plenty of books and toys. Recently the school added more rooms and a brand new state of the art theater where students participate in outstanding dance and choir shows, and perform in theater plays. The school has its own kitchen and the menu was recently updated to include daily hot soup, healthy snacks and organic vegetables and fruit. This is by far better than any other preschool where kids eat cold sandwiches or microwave their own food. Also, children have a daily nap in their pajamas and in small beds...again, big difference from other preschools where kids sleep on the floor in the sleeping bags with their shoes and clothes on. My daughter loves her teachers and brings them flowers from her garden every day! The teachers care about each and every student and always help them with their projects, personal care, and other things. My daughter is very sensitive and shy, but all her teachers are able to make her feel comfortable, relaxed, and loved at school. This school has an outstanding academic program, but learning is introduced in fun and interesting ways, so kids are never bored or pressured into learning. My daughter has just turned 4 years old and she reads and writes all letters of English and Russian alphabet, writes her name, and counts and writes numbers till 20. She also loves doing art projects, singing songs at their music class, playing soccer, dancing and performing on stage at the theater. She loves going to school every day and is happy to participate in all of the educational and fun activities. My daughter has attended Starbright for 4 years, and my son has been enrolled for 2 years now. Teachers are amazing (really, they are!). Environment is very supportive and nurturing. No kid is forgotten in the corner. It's home away from home in many respects and we love it for it. All of my kids have very different personalities, but teachers have a way of bringing out the best in each of them. It's amazing to watch the kids play, learn, and grow. Some of their best friendships developed at this school. My eldest started 1st grade this year. She stayed to attend K at Starbright. She is at the top of her class now in all subjects and is a very confident young lady. Additionally, she transitioned easily into an all English environment (from speaking exclusively Russian at home.). I attribute a lot of her successes to her years at Starbright. But I'll let my kids be the best judges - they all love it at the school and often I am unable to get them to go home. And that I think is HUGE in itself. People drive here from all over the bay area and there is a very good reason for it. read more
