    Right outside our room!

We were in town for a family wedding with our young daughter. This hotel not only met but exceeded our expectations. The small courtyard is beautiful the rooms are small but perfect for lodging in! There are benches and seating all over the grounds. Not to mention this is considered the oldest hotel in Texas! The grounds also have a few cats who don't bother anything but give this hotel a home like feel. As far as the staff they are amazing always checking on us and treating us like family. If you're looking for a hotel anywhere near this area I recommend this place!

Old refrigerator - I remember the one my great grandmother had in her home!

Definitely NOT your typical roadside motel! Charming, quiet accommodations, with all the luxuries of home. They offer both single and attached units at various price ranges. We stayed in The Garden Room - single unit. It had an enormous combined living and sleeping area and separate kitchen and bath areas. The outside patio with table and chairs was a bonus! Our parents, who traveled with us, stayed in The Cottage - another single unit. It had separate living and sleeping areas, along with wet bar and bath areas - and charming back patio! This isn't the Ritz; so why the 5 stars?? In these small towns, sprinkled throughout the great state of Texas, this type of place is an anomaly and we very much appreciated the nice touches throughout our rooms. Don't be thrown by the 'motel' advertisement - it's much more than that!

This place is so super cute! We're staying in the cottage that sleeps 6 and it has a little kitchen nook. I love it here. Beds are super comfortable too

I have been staying at the Rainbow Courts Motel for nearly a decade when we visit family nearby. All in all it was an enjoyable stay and we kept coming back. Before tonight I would agree with everyone else that this was a 5 star place. Tonight has changed my mind forever. Came to the motel after a long night celebrating with family and travel to find that the lock on our door doesn't work properly. A large tear in the comforter and my favorite the giant cockroach in the bathroom while I washed my face and brushed my teeth. Called management since no one is in the office at 9 pm and spoke to a "lovely" gentleman who asked if we are from Texas (we are ... I was born and raised) and that we should just get used to cockroaches because that is the Texas way. Are broken locks and super old linens that are falling apart the Texas way too? As a Texan I've never heard of that before.

such a cute and charming vintage motor court

wow, i totally fell in love with this place! why does it deserve 5 stars? here ya go... -it's in the hill country - it's a 20 min drive to some of THE BEST BBQ, dare i say it, THE WORLD -it's historical, nearly 100 years old -the owners pay attention to detail. the mattresses, bedding, toiletries - amazing -the property itself is down right cute & oozing with charm -the courtyard is BEAUTIFUL, peaceful and relaxing - AND they are very affordable. it's now one of my quick getaway spots when i am short on time, but have to get out of dallas. we really enjoyed our quick stay here. totally recommend!

Delightful old motel -- since 1918, oldest motel in continuous operation in Texas. Comes complete with very friendly cats.

We had a great 2 night stay at the Historic Rainbow Courts. Nice room with a kitchenette. Very laid back and homemade muffins for breakfast.

After I was asleep, a couple hours later, I received a text message from the front desk attendant. She had use the roach as an excuse to look up my phone number to ask me for a cigarette. No other mention of the roach. I have elderly relatives in Rockdale, will need a Rockdale hotel again in the future. Probably not this one.

Our pipes bursted again so we needed to find a convenient place to stay for a few days. The front desk clerk was very welcoming and helpful. I highly recommend her. Later we saw that the hotel water had turned brown. I thought it was unusual. I asked the clerk , who was different from the one who greeted us, about a room change. She seemed a little confused about my request so I explained that we needed to run an errand and will return. My husband insisted on handling our request because it seemed that the new on duty desk clerk was a little hostile. The clerk explained that the city works on the water system without informing the residents. I understood, however she began to ask us about our experience checking in before check in time, what time did we check in? Did the clerk explain that we could not check in before three o'clock? And we should not have been allowed to check in at 11:00 am. The clerk walked over to the sign on the wall, "Check-In 3:00p.m." That is where I nearly lost it. I am a PhD holder. My husband is also a PhD holder and we own several companies and this woman felt that she had to walk over and point to a sign to show us what 3 PM look like. I walked away as my husband continued a conversation. He's more patient than I am. So back to the question , hire and train welcoming individuals who are good at customer service.

There were a bunch of dead ones too so add the 105+ degree weather and you got yourself a bad odor that lingered in the hotel rooms. The staff here were pretty nice so that one star was for them. My room was on the ground floor so it was fine except there were bugs in my room. It wasn't bad compared with my coworkers' rooms which had grasshoppers in them. Lucky for me that annoying flies and what looked like a small beetle instead of grasshoppers. The floor felt really dirty to me and it almost felt like it was damp but it wasn't. It felt like my feet were so dirty just walking around my room. The complimentary breakfast was from 6am to 10am and it was complimentary for a reason. The choices were limited not to mention the eggs and what appeared to be sausage had only enough for one person. If the bug problem was eliminated, the rooms were cleaned better, and breakfast was better then this would be a decent place to stay at.

We reserved a room with a credit card 3 hours before our expected arrival. 30 minutes later our cars tire monitor showed a low tire. It was after 6 pm on Sunday. There weren't any repair stations open anywhere near our location even though we were in south Ft Worth. Lots of closed places. Luckily we pulled into a Motel 6 parking lot and were basically stuck there until Monday morning. We couldn't go that far on the 50 mph spare. I called the Days Inn and they happily cancelled our reservation and wished us luck with the tire repair. It took four tries to get through to an actual person. Their automated system needs work so I deducted a star.
