Primrose School of Hilliard at Mill Run

Primrose School of Hilliard at Mill Run

This facility exceeded all of our expectations. Warm and welcoming with extreme professionalism…read more Our boys thrived here.

After reading the negative review, I felt the need to add my experience with the Mill Run Primrose…read more I have two children 12 months apart, 2 years old and 3 years old, enrolled since birth with Tara's school. It's not inexpensive; in fact, it's about as pricey as it gets, but as expectant parents who have done their homework know, there's not a wide margin from school to school, and the several that we explored before choosing Primrose that were substantially less expensive...well I wouldn't step foot back in those schools. The kind of relationships that my children have built with ALL of their teachers trough the several classrooms they have been in is on par with the kind of relationship they have with their grandparents and aunts and uncles. The primrose staff is family to my children. Several teachers that ended up leaving primrose still keep contact with me on Facebook, and send messages of well wishes and asking how the girls are doing. Both of my girls are potty trained, know more sign language than I can keep up with, and are creatively and socially engaged beyond the level of which I could hope them to be in most any other circumstance. The moral of the story - if you're looking for an environment that fosters loving friendship, family values, and education foremost, and you hope to have your children more developmentally advanced than their stay-at-home counterparts...if you want to leave your daycare every morning at drop off knowing that they're in the hands of people you love and trust, the Mill Run Primrose should be your first option. Even after divorce and a tighter budget, I've never considered an alternative option. Do yourself a favor and go tour with Tara, Liz, and Katie and meet the teachers my children consider family.

Hilliard Montessori - Hilliard Montessori

Our daughter was a student at Hilliard Montessori for more than three years, and we were thrilled…read morewith our experience. The school is small, with three preschool/kindergarten rooms and a toddler room. The wonderful staff is led by the Director, Ms. Sadhana Arun, who is a smart, loving woman who really understands and implements the Montessori philosophy beautifully. My first clue that this was a supportive and welcoming place was watching all the children race up and hug Ms. Sadhana as each one left for home in the afternoon. The teachers know all the children's names and because all the rooms are mixed age, there is an amazing sense of community among all the children who attend, that I haven't seen at any other pre-school/daycare. Our daughter blossomed at Hilliard Montessori. She gained amazing self-confidence, as well as math, science, and reading skills. She also developed a strong sense of her own ability to affect positive change in the world around her. I also appreciated the diversity of both the teaching staff and the families who attend the school. There are so many cultures, languages, and backgrounds represented. The family potlucks and celebrations were like world travel, without leaving home. My only regret is that my daughter has now aged out of their program and she can't continue to be a daily member of this loving community and learn from such amazing teachers. We highly recommend that you contact Hilliard Montessori to set up a visit if you are looking for daycare or a preschool experience for a child between 18 months and 6 years. Yes, they offer kindergarten too!

Montessori education is a time-tested, respected and effective education methodology that was founded by Dr. Maria Montessori, the first woman in Italy to become a physician. The hallmark of the Montessori program is the prepared classroom environment. Each classroom is equipped with hands-on materials for children to independently learn at their own pace. Children learn to solve problems, see natural connections in knowledge and learn skills related to practical living to expand their imaginative thinking. Maria Montessori believed that this type of classroom fostered independence and a love of learning for young children.

If you truly care about your child, do not send them here by any means. The school claims to be…read moreprofessional and well-structured, but that image is extremely misleading. While they advertise themselves as a full Islamic school, the reality is very different. The school is far too expensive for what it actually offers. In the middle school and high school buildings, the only subjects that seem to be taken seriously are Arabic and math. In Quran class, students are simply handed a Quran and are expected to already know how to read and memorize it, with little to no proper instruction or support. New students are not treated well, and there is little effort made to help them adjust or feel welcomed. This is not the Islamic learning environment they promote. Everything costs extra, the expectations are unreasonable, and the overall atmosphere can be emotionally draining. In general, the middle and high school environment can completely destroy a child's motivation and love for learning. It is not a healthy place for students during such important developmental years. That being said, the elementary school is a completely different story. The elementary program is actually excellent. They teach Quran reading properly, Arabic writing, and Islamic studies in a structured and supportive way. The environment is kind, safe, and nurturing, which is exactly what young children need. Teachers are more patient, and students are encouraged rather than pressured. I would strongly recommend this school only for elementary-aged children. However, the same recommendation does not apply to the middle or high school. Parents should seriously reconsider enrolling their older children here, as the quality of education and student care drops significantly after elementary school.
