There are very few reviews of Rainbow on Yelp ( primarily of the Farnborough site) . Those reviews are not altogether great but I really do want to change the impression they give.
Firstly, Rainbow have a quite massive volume of cars passing through their repair facilities as they are major preferred site for reputable insurers such as Liverpool Victoria (LV). So think about that... vast numbers of cars and barely a few Yelp reports ...that says a lot. We are maybe looking at less than a 0.01% of work having customer issues. Pretty damned impressive. Let us be honest... people are far more likely to post if grumpy than in the default position of happy and some of those grumpies... may just be permagrumps!
BUT The thing that makes me give them 4 stars is actually because I was BIG TIME one of that 0.01% and after initial alarm 0 I finally drove away with a car that left me very impressed by Rainbow..the final finish is not just stunning it is flawless.
How so?
I have a friend who is a high end car restorer...he asked if I wanted him to look around the car and give a verdict... I knew he wanted to show his superior eye...so was expecting him to spot something ... I mean Rainbow is a fin car repairer but my insurer was not paying for some kind of vintage car restoration of a million quid car... so I waited for him to point out the bits that he could sniff about...
There were none. He spent many minutes looking at every panel, stepped back and said. " I'd be happy with that" ..from him that is about as good as it gets.
QA ISSUES
Rainbow does need to be more thorough on its pre-delivery checks as one can become Rainbow's unofficial QA department... I did have some issues I would not have expected. Their Pre-delivery QA is frankly poor. I did find myself rejecting delivery fro issues that left me staggered the car ever got presented to the customer, and this did undermine confidence.
CONFIDENCE
WE were unlucky on the work and due to a few glitches we ended up having to match paint that initially would not have required a respray at all Rainbow's response? "If we have to respray the entire car to do this ..that is what we will do" . And that promise was absolutely delivered.
HONESTY AND INTEGRITY
Rainbow promised me that there was NO WAY that I would leave their care unhappy and they DELIVERED 100% on that.
I would draw particular credit to Dean, who managed my repair and Val who I understand to be head honcho. At every step, they were honest, reassuring and in complete contrast to what might be expected of other companies, not only accepted my observations without challenge ( and I am very very detail focused) but actually noted flaws in paintwork that I lacked expertise to spot.
Seriously...I think of Rainbow, and Dean and Val as genuine friends, especially Dean who was my primary contact. I am not saying that lightly, his professionalism and his people skills are second to none. I need to have another accident - ads I shall I shall miss our conversations
Did you notice something unexpected a while back? I said "WE were unlucky on the work" ...that is absolutely how I feel... I was advised of everything, and completely included in the process.
But I also say 'WE' because although we now joke that I should be invited to their office party, given the number of revisits, I left Rainbow with a stunningly beautiful respray, and new friends whom I trust implicitly to do as they claimed and ensure that the customer ends up with a result to be thrilled with.
Seriously, its been a journey and some of that journey should not have been necessary, but the result is amazing, these guys were totally supportive and at no point tried to claim other than ownership of the issues.
If I ever get that 'Barn Find' Llamborgini ( That's the welsh version) with tatty paint .... there is no question... I shall be taking it to Rainbow.
Their QA does need improvement
They are capable of stunning work...and they delivered.
