D&M Coachwork are a family run business maintained by father and son for 20+ years. The son Daniel is diligent, kind, honest and hard working though sadly his father (who is also a partner in the business) lacks integrity.
Daniel spent ages looking at the damage to our car door, carefully weighing up every single dent and scratch from every angle, from the left, right, from above and below. He was so thorough and even commented on one of our other doors which was fixed by a different firm, saying he wouldn't have let that job leave his workshop like that. Daniel seemed like a real perfectionist and I trusted him implicitly.
I explained that the damaged car was a lease car and I would need all the damage to be remedied so the car would look absolutely PERFECT as the lease was due to expire in two weeks time and I didn't want any issues when returning the car. Daniel put my mind at rest and said once finished, the damage would be non-existent and I had every confidence Daniel would do a first class job, based on his assessment.
A few days later Daniel sent through an estimate outlining the work involved and the costs. He explained that he was going on holiday though his Dad would look after the job in his absence. I was happy with this arrangement so asked to book in the car asap.
When I collected the car I was really happy with the work though the next day I noticed quite a dent had not been fixed above the handle. I rang immediately and spoke to Daniel's Dad who said that the dent was not part of the estimate and hence why it was not fixed. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I told him about the conversation I'd had with Daniel. That the car was a lease car which was about to be returned to the leasing company and that I needed the scratched and dented door to look perfect for the leasing company. I could almost hear him shrug his shoulders over the phone! Daniels Dad's response was "you need to take this up with Daniel who is away in Cyprus for another week. Daniel didn't estimate for the dent to be fixed, so you need to speak to him about that."
When I mentioned that I needed to have the dent fixed before I return the car in two days time, he said it was impossible and reiterated that the dent was NOT included in Daniels estimate.
I couldn't understand why he thought it was satisfactory for the car to leave his garage in the knowledge that a significant dent had not been repaired?
Sadly this gentleman does not have any integrity and my advice is to tread carefully when using this firm. Ideally use Daniel and make sure that everything solitary dent and scratch is accounted for in the estimate.
I am so disappointed with the service from Daniels father. He clearly doesn't care about customer service. Furthermore, if the leasing company charge me to fix the dent, I will be passing the invoice onto D&M Coachworks. read more
