As far as bead stores go, it's pretty top-notch! The selection is big, the prices are decent, and…read morethey had a cool front rack dedicated to selling pieces made by local artists (big plus!) What's that you say? How many bead stores could I possibly have been to? A lot! If you've ever spent any length of time making things, you've needed fine wire and tools, and there are few better places to get wire-specific supplies than a bead store :) Why the ding then to four stars? Well, I was in the shop with my wife this time, and she was the one seriously shopping. But, we were there for the better part of 45 minutes, and I was casually browsing, but I didn't get so much as a single word from any of the three staff members in the shop. The only attention I got at all was surreptitious "what is he doing here?" and subtle following making sure I wasn't pocketing any beads. No greeting, no smile, not even a "let me know if you have any questions." Nothing. That's a ding. However, they took marvelous care of my darling wife, so it's a small ding! Sidebar: let's take this as a cautionary tale to not name your business after a neighborhood if it's going to move :P

I am in love with this store. It's newer in town (from when I was last in Arkansas over a year ago…read moreat least), and sounds like they used to just be a mobile bookstore but now have a brick and mortar space. And what a delightful space it is. The store specializes in sci-fi/horror/fantasy genre books, but the various little rooms and nooks within the store also have super fun items to browse like old computers and cool artwork. They have a lot of books, and while this isn't generally my favorite types of genres, I'm a sucker for a well-arranged book display. A pretty cover caught my eye and next thing I know I now have a new romantasy book to read. The shop owner was also super friendly and loved talking about all things geek and books with us when we were there. There were a lot of fun stories about how each item came to rest in its place in the shop -- make sure you chat him up while there. One room is a dedicated reading room -- the couches, chairs, and tables are other-worldly and fit the ambiance of the store perfectly. I want to pick this room up and bring it to my house! I could probably spend all day here. It's perfection. And then there's the shop dog! The owner said they'd just rescued her from the streets a few weeks ago but she was an absolute gem. Loved giving her pets. You definitely have to stop in even if the genre isn't your normal jam!
