I went there with collegues this week, and it was SO FUN. It was a bit scary in the beginning, because I was worried of how the axe could bounce back and stuff, but I soon realized I probably didn't have the strength to make it bounce back that far anyways so... There's of course basic safety rules that are clearly explained, and there's a waiver to sign - which is pretty standard wherever "combat sport" is involved. There's three different sizes of axes, which all have to be thrown in a slightly different manner. I couldn't really hold the largest one up for very long, so I mostly used the smallest one. I have to say that I only managed to hit the target correctly twice, but it was still a fantastic session! Everybody had a blast! One guy from France now wants to become French-Canadian, and another dude wants to set up axe throwing at home. The music they played was really nice (System of a Down, Rammstein, David Hasselhoff (?!)). It wasn't too loud, and the rock/metal mix energized the place. Close to the front desk, there were even some branded leather goods for sale! The training/service was very professional and friendly. We also appreciated how the group pictures taken at the end of the session had a studio-like quality. They made great souvenirs! I recommended this place to my friends. This is the perfect group activity for anyone looking for something new (we came for a bachelor party and worked well for a group of 9). Don't be intimidated and give it a try. They start you out with a safety lesson and explanation on proper form. Most people pick it up after a short while and it's safe as long as you follow directions and wait until all axes are not in motion. They have a few different sized hatchets to try out with different throwing styles. If you can hold the heavier axes they tend to be a bit easier to guide in the air. The staff is helpful and have just the right amount of attitude. Overall it was a great time and we got some great group and individual photos. Who would have thought ax throwing could be so fun?? I seriously had my doubts when a member of our group chose the activity but decided to give it a try. It takes a lot more skill and thought than you think to make the ax stick in the board. The friendly staff provide a very thorough explanation of safety and technique before the session and were around to help if needed. I came to this establishment after work with a colleague and what a blast I had. How it works: You get a lane with a target (sort of like darts) and an axe. A staff member explains the rules and the safety precautions as well as the basic technique on how to throw the axe at the target. It was a little difficult at first but the helpful and patient staff member stuck around until I got the hang of it. Once I got the jist of it, I had a blast. Talk about letting out my rage. My husband and sister and I accidentally found this place while we were visiting Montreal for the F1. Obviously we had to try it out since you won't find an axe-throwing range anywhere in the states (just gun ranges...). We went on a Saturday around 6PM and were able to walk in. They do recommend you make a reservation online to ensure a spot. You do need to wear closed toes shoes in order to throw (duh), and they have you sign a waiver. And if needs to be said, you also can't throw axes if you've been drinking or smoking weed. It costs $40 for up to 3 people for one hour/one target. Val was our instructor and was super personable and helpful. The men and women who work here obviously really love what they do which comes across in the experience. Did it help that my sister is a hot blonde? Probably...but I still think you'll get excellent service regardless :) We all definitely recommend coming here if your'e in Montreal or any of their other locations around Canada. There is no better way to release your stress! The anger from within turns into powerful throws. What i loved the most about the activity is the staff: thematically dressed as vikings and each one with animal's name. Our trainer was "the Wolf"! They teach you how to throw the axe and eventually correct your mistakes until you hit the bullseye. After an hour of throwing your arm gets a little bit tired - like a good day at the gym. Came here while visiting Montreal while we were staying in Vermont with my fiancee. We had reservations, but since they had open lanes they allowed us to go in early after signing the short release form. A quick 10 minute lesson & then they give you a score card to compete against your friends & we were off throwing like seasoned lumberjacks. Our instructor (Illian?) was helpful & friendly. It can get warm, and throwing axes keeps you moving so dress appropriately, but no open toed shoes. There are tons of restaurants nearby, and there's street parking if you can find it, but I parked in the lot at a motel/mall a few blocks away. Bonus: With the exchange rate, the $40 Canadian lane fee was under $30 US. read more

I wasn't sure what to expect when coming here for axe throwing but I honestly thought it was a lot of fun ! They take the time to show you how to handle the axes and the proper way to throw them safely. They do keep an eye on you from a distance to make sure everyone is okay and safe but without invading your space. Pricing and rules are all clearly listed on their website. This is a fun group activity and would make a great team building exercise as well. Definitely make reservations especially on the weekend to make sure you get a spot as it was very busy. You can keep score of your points on screen and you get to use 3 different kinds of axes ! They're not overly heavy so people of various strengths are able to participate. Although needless to say this is not an activity for children. They have an area where you can take pictures with some logs and axes. They take a group picture of you at the end as well. Lastly , word of warning don't wear open toed shoes or high heels or any type of shoe that would expose part of your feet or compromise your balance as these are understandably not allowed. Was looking for something fun/Canadian to do during my bachelorette weekend getaway from the US that was relatively inexpensive. This was PERFECT.
