Arrived close to opening time, were pleasantly greeted and asked if we could have a same day turnaround. The lady obliged, gathered our clothes, and wrote up a claim ticket. Asked approximately how much our laundry would cost and she quoted us €60 for our 3 bags. Not exactly cheap but then again the facility was clean, tidy, and close to the Hilton Opera. We couldn't figure out exactly how she came up with the quote since she just dropped the bags onto the floor (didn't see a scale on the floor). **Clothes came out smelling great but they lost a sock of mine which they later found stuck in the washer. My advice would be to make sure to take an inventory of all articles of clothing before you drop it off. I believe I saw a rate of €4.99 per kilo but that was at their second location. Still doubtful we had 14 kilos of clothes but I guess we got the "tourist rate."**

I had a few delicate items to me washed which were completed following the individual clothes washing instructions. Although the wash and fold service wasn't cheap (£30 for 10kgs approx) the finished laundry was clean, neatly folded and ready for my collection at the prearranged time. This happened in front of co-workers. I tried to remain peppy and positive, but I was devastated. When I got back home I shoved the blouse into a corner for months, denying the horror. I didn't think my local seamstress could fix it, so I just waited for some sort of sign. One day while shopping at Thanx God I'm a VIP, the owner mentioned that she had a great retoucheur in the neighborhood. She gave me the biz card and I realized that it was a place I walked past all of the time and never noticed. If she took her impeccable wares there then I surely could trust them with my favorite blouse. They examined the damage, and assured me that we didn't have to shorten or alter the design at all (I had envisaged some sort of amputation above the tear), but that they would sew a piece on the back and restitch the tear as cleanly as possible. The results are magic! Unless you know what to look for you could never tell that the area had been damaged. For that, and that, alone, they merit 5 stars.

I stopped in here today with my favorite boots (the only ones I brought with me for my three months…read morein Paris and the shoes I've worn every day here so far). The heels on the boots were about to fall off, and since the rainy weather hasn't stopped yet, I needed them repaired. Unfortunately, after talking to the two nice cobblers here at Les 2 Lutins, we decided that they were not worth saving. They only cost me $150 originally, and it would cost about 60 Euros and 2 weeks to have them repaired, so I opted to let them die and buy new shoes. However, I wanted to comment on how much time the two employees here spent with me to go over what was wrong with my boots and what options I had. We managed to communicate just fine in my broken French and their small amount of English. And then after I decided to not have them fixed (even though they spent 20 minutes with me), they were still nice enough to point me in the direction of some other shoe shops with similar-priced boots. I really appreciated it!

No bills, no cards. I didn't know that, but luckily the cafe across the street made change for me. TIP #2: don't be afraid to ask the employee for help. I'm not ashamed; I did! She showed me how it's done. Turns out there's one machine that collects coins for everything...detergent, washer selection, and dryer selection. First, was buying the detergent. Pay for it with the one machine that accepts coins for everything then the detergent pops out of a vending machine a couple of feet away... detergent comes in two alka-seltzer type tablets. One tablet goes in each side of the machine's soap tray. Second, remember your washer's number and select it from the coin-pay machine, then hit the green button on your washer and you're all set. Dryer is the same process. About 4.5 Euros for the wash and the dryer charges by time. I think it's about 1 Euro per 10 minutes. Hope this helps! Julice Laverie...
