Oakwood Endodontics - Dr. Spencer Bjarnason

Oakwood Endodontics

(22 reviews)

I went to Oakwood to see Dr. Lin after receiving a bad root canal and crown from another dentist. I…read morewas extremely nervous and honestly pretty upset because I had been dealing with pain and complications for almost a year. I'll even admit I walked in with a bit of an attitude -- I was frustrated, in pain, and had already spent a lot of money trying to fix the issue. From the moment I arrived, the Oakwood staff immediately put me at ease. Everyone was professional, kind, and incredibly accommodating. They were knowledgeable and took the time to really listen to my concerns. Dr. Lin performed a full exam and asked detailed questions about how the previous dentist had completed the procedure. We both came to the conclusion that the previous dentist likely didn't use a safety cover (rubber dam), which allowed an infection to develop under the tooth. What impressed me the most was how thorough Dr. Lin was. The practice has a 3D X-ray machine that my insurance didn't cover, but instead of retreating the tooth blindly, Dr. Lin offered to waive the fee so he could get a clear and accurate picture of the infection area before moving forward. On the day of the procedure, everything was on time and the treatment was done comfortably with no pain. As I walked out of the building, I told my husband I could already feel the pain starting to decrease. By the very next day I was partially eating on that side, and within four days the pain I had been dealing with for almost a year was completely gone. I am incredibly grateful and so thankful for the Oakwood team and Dr. Lin. If you're nervous about dental work or dealing with complications from another dentist, I highly recommend them.

I was referred to Dr. B by my general dentist after discovering an infected tooth that would…read morerequire a root canal through a crown. Not realizing how serious it was, I called Oakwood to schedule the consultation and after a few questions they were able to move my appointment up and squeeze me in almost immediately. From the moment I called them, I sensed that they genuinely care about their patients. They provided a clear, honest, easy-to-read estimate for the services. Come day of, I was nervous because root canals have such a negative connotation. The receptionist, the assistant (I believe her name was Lily) and Dr. B exceeded all expectations and made the scary experience extremely comfortable and pain free. The office is very nice and clean and I enjoy that the patient chairs look out a window. Dr. B was very kind, professional, efficient and explained everything thoroughly. I'll even add a bonus...in the aftercare paperwork, they provided his personal cell in case I have any questions or concerns after hours. Let me tell you...I had a procedure once that occurred on a Friday evening before closing and the office is closed on weekends. I got home only to find that the blood wasn't clotting from the procedure so I was bleeding excessively from my mouth for HOURS (almost 9 hours to be exact). I was about to go to the ER when it finally stopped, but in those hours I just wished I had a line of communication to the office staff or dentist to advise me on what to do. The fact that Dr. B provided his number goes to show the level of care you can expect at Oakwood.

It's taken me a long time to find the perfect dentist office. I have been seeing Dr. Good for…read moreseveral years now. When you are in his chair, he treats you as if he was treating his mother. He is understanding about my anxiousness, he explains everything in detail as he is doing a procedure. Dr. Good continues to check in about how you are doing during the appointment. He always presents the option that will benefit you the most...he helps you watch your purse strings. Dr. Good also gets to know you and is always asking about the last thing you talked about. He has a great personality so that helps the time fly by during your visit. The entire staff is amazing!! I have adored all the assistants and hygienists. The office staff is efficient. The office is also extremely welcoming and comfortable. Love the chairs!!

I recently visited this office for a routine cleaning, which itself was fine, but the experience…read morethat followed left a much stronger impression--and not in a good way. After the exam, I was informed that I needed several cavities addressed. That part wasn't surprising. What was surprising was the financial process that followed. The conversation felt less like a healthcare discussion and more like sitting across from a finance manager at a car dealership--focused heavily on cost breakdowns and payment structure rather than care. The most concerning part: I was told I needed to pay a $100 deposit just to schedule the procedure. While I understand deposits in certain contexts, this felt out of place in a healthcare setting. Patients are already committing to treatment and cost--adding a pay-to-book requirement creates an unnecessary barrier and, frankly, erodes trust. Yes, the deposit is applied toward the final bill, but that doesn't change the principle. Patients shouldn't feel like they're paying for access to care. Healthcare--especially dentistry--relies on trust, transparency, and patient-first thinking. This experience leaned too far in the direction of financial policy over patient care. If you're exploring dental providers, I'd encourage you to ask upfront about payment practices and find an office whose approach aligns with your expectations. There are plenty of great providers out there who prioritize patient experience alongside clinical care. Unfortunately, this wasn't one of them.

I have been going to Perch Denistry for a year now. My dentist Dr. Denise Cua is an outstanding…read moredentist. She really cares about you as a patient. For example, last year I had a Crown inserted and after i had some pain. I went back and she had to even my bite out and the pain left. She didn't charge me for the follow-up plus scheduled another follow-up in case it didn't alleviate the problem. The staff are very nice and considerate to your apprehensiveness to visit a dentist. They offer you bottled water or coffee as you enter. They also greet you with the name you wish to be called. They also work with your insurance provider the best they can and go over costs before starting. I sort of hate the xray part when they put the shield in your mouth. But Beto the xray tech goes slow and tries to allieviate your uncomfortableness. The hygentists that work with Dr. Cua are friendly and are caring. Helping you setup the TV to watch and listen to while they work away. Also giving you a pillow and leg rest if you want. They work well with Dr. Cua as scrapes off the plaque and calcium build-up. Keeping your mouth rinsed and clean. They then polish after Dr. Cua finishes. Although I don't love visiting the dentist. I do love my experience at Perch Dentistry with Dr. Cua and her staff. By the way I had no cavities on this visit and my gums are looking much healthier! So if you haven't seen a dentist in awhile give Perch a call and start the process of having a cleaner and healthier mouth!
