It's been one solid year now, and GATEWAY has officially become our church home!!! We love coming…read moreto Gateway because they open their doors with a welcoming heart and a no-judgment approach. Heck, it's even their church motto, "no perfect people allowed". I'm personally drawn to sermons that pair Scripture with practical, everyday applications and personal stories, and their pastors deliver every single time. Though we started at the South campus location, we've been branching out to the other locations to switch things up. We've seen Carlos (senior pastor of Gateway) and the North campus several times on screen, but unfortunately never in person, so we decided to take a little road trip. Campus size, HUGE. Production, HUGE. Number of churchgoers, you can guess what my answer is. While we were unable to catch Carlos this time, we had the pleasure of Justin, executive pastor preaching to us instead. We're looking forward to our next trip!

Overall more positive than negative observations from me. Positive: Very welcoming, very diverse, community driven which means they're bringing people together. Plenty of groups, events, and outreach, all great things to see in a church. Yes, church is indeed a business, any church big or small has to manage finances. I appreciate seeing that "big church" is being used to reach people, help people, save people, connect people. In my handful of visits I've been to service with a total of 3 different pastors preaching. I don't know how often they do that but I think its great to see different pastors delivering messages especially when they have such different styles of preaching. Negative: I completely understand big church comes with big goals and big responsibilities, which inevitably means big financial needs and aspirations. They most certainly push everyone to give, more than any other church I've attended. I consider it a negative because of the emphasis during service and at times seemingly guilt tripping people into giving...but I understand the importance spiritually and even practically for the church. Slight Political punches have been made by the senior pastor on multiple occasions. It's quite disappointing because there's no political side that aligns with Christianity or Jesus up and down. And I'd argue there's no side that is closer than the other, each has exploits in their values/positions on controversial topics....The result of essentially picking one side over the other is cherry picking certain issues/view points and antagonizing the other side for where their positions may be questionable in regards to Christianity, while ignoring your sides questionable behaviors/positions that don't align with either Christianity as a whole or who Jesus calls us to be (or how to behave or treat others)....Its disappointing to see the one sided political jabs Overall I feel the church is serving Christ regardless of any of my negative observations or imperfections. People will always be so critical but there's alot of good things happening here.

Thankfully, a good friend of ours recommended City Reach; and after checking out the church over a couple of Sundays, we made our choice. We enjoyed and continue to be delighted by the friendliness of the church member community here. The parking team does a wonderful job each Sunday to make sure we find a parking spot, and they have a shuttle that brings us to the entrance. Drip coffee and hot tea are provided if you'd like to enjoy a hot beverage while worshipping and listening to the sermon. The worship teams are truly in the spirit and sing in the name of Jesus. The worship sets are powerful and we can feel the Holy Spirit moving within us, and we see how others around us have been impacted as well. The pastor is unapologetic in preaching what is written in the Bible. He doesn't add fluff but stays true to the Word. His expository style is appreciated as he highlights the main ideas while calling out key points. They also have a children's program, from infants through high school. Their new campus is beautiful and has several parking lots to choose from. There is also overflow parking available with a shuttle provided. City Reach Church isn't charismatic nor is it traditional (we've been to both kinds in the past), it's actually fun and we look forward to going each Sunday! The style here is unique, though it's not necessarily for everyone. If you're curious to learn what a relationship with Jesus looks like, are new in your walk with Jesus, or if you're looking for a new church home, we highly recommend giving City Reach a try!

The people and volunteers have been exceptional! The facilities are outstanding! The organization of the whole event has been flawless! What a truly wonderful experience! I am proud to call Shoreline my church... this event is just one example of the wonderful things our church does for the community. I just can't say enough about how amazing this has been... in a day an age of rip off camps that charge hundreds of $$ a week, then more for extended care, and provide no real substance, Shoreline seriously was the eye in the storm of summer camp craziness!
