A good friend of mine and I drove from Texas to Kansas in the early part of January for a guided predator hunt by Mr Rader. I am by no means an expert predator hunter but have been predator hunting for over 40 years. I thought it would be nice to come to Kansas and be guided. I've always wanted to hunt in Kansas and did not have any contacts so I hired this "guide"service. Mr. Rader does not know much about predator hunting. As most of you know, it's important to be down wind from whatever you're hunting, especially coyotes. This was not an important factor to him whatsoever. And when brought to his attention, in a very diplomatic way (to begin with),he simply ignored me. It is also important to get to your hunting quietly , without using bright lights. This was not a factor for him either as every time we walked into an area to hunt on the first night he had a bright white headlight that he used while walking into the area where we were hunting and to put the call out. That was a bad deal, coupled, with the fact that he had no thermal optic to observe what was going on while attempting to call in coyotes and would have to talk to us the whole time in a loud voice, which was also a dead giveaway. If you decide to use this guide service, don't expect to go to each location with him in a hunting vehicle that he provides. I did not know this and had to take my suburban into some of the worst stuff you can imagine. If I had known, I would have brought my hunting vehicle. The locations that we hunted had been hunted many times And the coyotes "educated". But, after hunting for about five hours the first night we did manage to call in and kill two coyotes when he finally put us on locations with the proper wind direction. On the second night, we followed him to several locations where he allowed us to hunt while he just stayed in the truck. We saw nothing the second night. He has a very nice demeanor, but has no business, holding himself out as a predator hunting guide and taking people's money. This hunt was a rip off. Went on my first trip with Rader lodge this year and had a great time! we killed plenty of pheasant and even got into several covey of quail. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking to get into some good hunting in Kansas! read more

I scheduled a 3 day pheasant and quail hunt for my husband and sons. The website said they will stay in a lodge with meals provided. I tried getting ahold of Jeff the day before they left to verify the lodge address. He did not get back with me until the next morning when they were all ready 3 hours into their drive (coming from Indiana) to tell me he had booked them at the Super 8. There is NO lodge. Their meals were at a Mexican restaurant and another restaurant that was closed two of the days they were there. They only saw Jeff one time and that was just for him to collect their money. They tried several times to reach him while they were there to no avail. He is not a very professional business owner. With all that being said they did have 2 really nice guides and did kill some birds. Will we book with him again? No! I don't care to do business with someone who isn't honest. Had he been upfront about the accommodations and meals that would have been one thing, but don't try to pull the wool over my eyes. We hunted the opening 3 days of the Kansas Gun Season for Rios. To sum it up: We saw as many toms during our hunt with as we did Jeff Rader. The answer to both is zero. The cabin we stayed at was very nice. Weather wasn't great but that has nothing to do with this review. The only time anyone showed up it was Jess(his assistant) to collect the money. Then we never saw anyone, didn't receive a message from Jeff Rader asking us how we did when we left. Once they have the money, you likely won't see them again(or at all). He was responsive with sending us new spots. But dropping a pin on a 300+ acre plot with no insight on the property in bad weather conditions isn't setting up your customers for success... He had no clue where the birds were and did not have them patterned. P.S. He recently had his google business removed or rebranded so you can no longer see the reviews for "Rader Lodge". Which is why this was left here. read more

Four of us scheduled a two day hunt with Jeff, and we had a great time. The group accommodations were we kept and clean. They brought us a good dinner and provided breakfast, we elected to get lunch on our own. The fields were great for wildlife and in addition to goo pheasant and quail we saw deer and turkey. Me and my good friend put pheasant hunting on our bucket list(s). We found Jeff Rader by searching for pheasant hunts. Prices were excellent and we booked a hunt. Jeff put us up at the Backyard Lodge there in Beloit, KS. Older motel very clean and friendly staff/owner. We met our guide Jesse Wetzel at the Banner (restaurant) in Beloit. After breakfast we headed out to the fields. Jesse and his dogs flushed up every bird we shot. Jesse was a fantastic guide and provided 1st class service. His two GSP's. Hunter and Hank knew exactly what to do with very little instruction from Jesse. Hank is a 2 year old and was amusing to watch as unloaded from the truck and caught a case of the "zoomies" 1st thing in the morning. Once he zoomed out Hunter the 9 year old took the lead and they located and flushed up the birds. Me and my old friend will definitely be booking another hunt and will be bringing our 2 boys with us. BEWARE!!!!! If I could give this place half a star I would... Jeff is nothing but a scam artist who screws people out of money. Helper Jesse is the only one we saw the first day. He dropped us pins on onX maps. We informed him we didn't have the Kansas state downloaded to show property owners. He assured us we didn't need that. We roosted birds the first night and they were where Jesse pin pointed. Little did we know that there would be a Hunter within a 100 yards of us the next morning. After the other Hunter shot and killed a bird we met up with him and found out that he leased the ground and we were in the wrong spot!!! We called Jeff to see what was up and he just seemed not to care at all about the whole situation. Told us he had another spot if we wanted to try that. So we met up with him at this other spot. He then told us "we shouldn't get in trouble here". Never once did he offer an apology for what happened. Not to mention we were slipping on birds with a decoy when the shot was fired so one of us could've been killed. When we got into how we didn't like how he was running this operation and that we paid him money to hunt private ground he got mad and said "I'm done, I gotta go". Also he told my dad he would pay for the state of Kansas on onX but just so happened to forget his wallet...we still have never seen that $20 lol. I hope this post reaches people that are looking for a place to go so that they will not give this guy their money and waste their time. The lodge was nice, no complaints there but that's not what I paid for. Jeff deserves all that he has coming to him. I have reached out to Kansas dnr to inform them as well about how he is running things. read more
