For years, I've been seeing old motor lodges along the road and fantasizing about buying one and fixing it up really nice. Well, that is the Crest-Vue Motel.
On a side trip, we found ourselves not able to get to our destination before nightfall and fatigue set in. I opt for chain hotels, as I'm not into gambling when I need a good night's sleep, but, we pulled into Crest-Vue. I have to admit, the only reason was the fact that the signage was well-lit and the property looked well-kept. We thought we'd take a chance.
We received an old-fashioned key on a fob by the pleasant lady at the front desk. The rates were very reasonable. One option never run across before is that, if you don't use both beds, you pay a little less!
We crossed our fingers as we entered the room (so nice to be able to drive right up to the door instead of schlepping our overnight baggage through lobbies, up elevators and down hallways). It was very nice! The room was recently renovated, everything looked and smelled clean, the TV worked effortlessly, the WiFi connected the first time tried, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was pristine and well-maintained and the shower was hot with great water pressure. We spent a very quiet night (I only remember the rumble of a couple trucks driving past and the arrival of guests opening and closing the door of the room next to ours).
Coffee is available in the motel office in the mornings. read more
