When I finally got a hold of them on the fifth time they told me they were already booked full. We went ahead and went to our destination in Mankato and was hoping we could find a hotel we stopped at the Crestview and it looked like it had been closed up or abandoned. I went to the door and it was locked. There was one car in the parking lot and had junk piled out in front. After looking at it there's no way in the world. I would wanna stay there. It made the Norman Bates hotel on psycho look good. Actually, I rated it one star because there wasn't a zero star

The food was plentiful, included in the cost. The property takes great pride in its service to its guests. We felt like one of the family by the time we left. At that time, the hotel had many wedding guests. We had a spacious room with the best view of the Kansas prairie. You just opened the curtains and there it was - as far as the eye can see, free of the burdens of big city life. A police officer had just pulled someone over in the parking lot for some alleged traffic infraction, just as we were pulling in. A suggestion is to go the speed limit and don't hurry to your destination.

Honestly, I'm not sure of the "defined" difference between a hotel and motel. So, I am going off my own preconceived notion that motels are usually more run down and you can't expect the same conveniences that a hotel would have. When we called ahead a very friendly woman answered. She informed us that all rooms were the same with two beds and non-smoking. The room was a throw back to the 80s or early 90s with wood paneled walls, hanging light fixtures and laminate flooring. There was a somewhat bad odor that you get with most older buildings. While there was no shampoo or conditioner provided, there was face and body soap along with clean towels. In the morning coffee is provided, no breakfast (this is what I would expect from a motel). Overall, if this was a hotel I would rate it 2 stars, but, because this is a motel it got a one star boost. If I am ever back in Red Cloud, or around it, I will definitely have no problems staying at Green Acres again. Happy sleeping Yelpers!

I'm the latter sort, and the "old building" -- a renovated motel-style facility -- is a nice bargain. There's a decent diner-style restaurant (also indie, the Velvet Rose) about a block up the way, and a Pizza Hut across the street. I do suggest that you bring your own toiletries if you're particular -- they're provided, but Cashmere Bouquet isn't all that -- but otherwise I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by this friendly, unassuming facility.
