Girl crew got together for some boba and waffles!…read more I've never had pandan before so it was a first, but the ube waffle was my favorite out of the two. The bestie got the #10 Bambu favorite The kiddo got brown sugar milk tea boba with oat milk I got the Vietnamese coffee with salted caramel blended. All very tasty. Now not sure what was going on with the young man and the lady we saw working there but I hope he's ok.. and all is well. Was a bit off... concerning. So hope that is all good. Otherwise looking forward to trying other items on the menu.

I came in around 6ish, and it seemed quiet. I ordered the pandan waffle. It was sooo good. Something tells me it was made before and then frozen and reheated. I could be wrong... and I hope I am... The reason I say that is bc I heard a slight buzzing behind the counter that sounded like a microwave oven. It also came out hotter than you would expect something that came freshly baked from the oven. Again, just my guess... It was good either way. I also tried one of the traditional che cups. It was so good. Nostalgic of my childhood. Not too sweet and coconut milk based. They also gave me an option of ice or ice on the side. Staff and cashier were friendly. Would definitely come back

It was busy at lunchtime on a Friday. The cafe is so cute! Charmingly decorated. We ordered at the counter, took a table number and found our seats. One note about that: being a large person, the seats made me a little nervous. Next time i would opt for booth seating which looked a bit more substantial. Our entrees were brought out before our appetizers, but they looked so good I didn't even care. Couldn't wait to dig in. I had Pho Ga chicken noodle soup. It was served nice and hot with a bowl of raw herbs and add ins. Sprouts, fresh jalapeño slices, a lemon wedge etc. it was so delicious with complex flavors. I finished every drop. Appetizer was pork on a stick. Tender inside, crisp and sweet outside. Two skewers was plenty for us. My daughter had the lemon grass chicken with a fried egg. It looked great, she said it was very good. Our food was appealingly presented, and service was good. We each drank water and our bill was over $36. Not cheap for lunch but not outrageous and quality and portion sizes justified the cost. We will definitely return to try more menu items.

I am craving to go back to this place. I tried the Honoi style pork bowl which was super delicious, perfectly balanced and enjoyable textures. The sesame balls were the cherry on the top! Match and Vietnamese coffee is customizable with sugar levels and was so fresh and made with intention. A truly nourishing experience. Cannot wait to ho back!

Boba shop... where East meets West [New Albany IN]…read more Unlike in California we seem to have a boba shop in every corner. We searched for a boba shop nearby (and even not so nearby) and Mochi Wren Boba & Bakery in downtown New Albany came up at the top of the list offering an authentic variety of popular boba tea, coffee, and latte options and also a fusion yummy array of traditional Asian baked goods. Okay, let's go... Not far from Boomtown Kitchen and New Albany Candy Shoppe we walked to this boba cafe. It was a quiet Saturday evening and the we were the only ones in the shop the entire time we were there. We chose coconut milk tea and strawberry fruit tea for our drinks and on the bakery side we got the last two egg tarts left and a chocolate cake roll slice. I love egg tarts and theirs was just like the Hong Kong-style version of the ones we get in San Francisco Chinatown, lightly sweetened, flaky, buttery pastry and smooth. As far as the drinks we both love smoothie or blended drinks and sadly they did not offer this... hopefully, they can add this option to their menu in the future. Instagram: @mochi_wren Review #3879
