The menu is your standard pub fare and nothing too special, but when lamb shank's on the specials board you can be sure it won't last long, so tender is the meat. They also do a particularly good chicken parma, which is on the larger side of average and enhanced by the option of self-serve chilli flakes at the kitchen counter. The bar staff are friendly, particularly Leon, who always gets to know the regulars. There're a couple of benches out the front that get filled pretty quickly on a warm evening, although the trees along the footpath have a cheeky habit of dropping bits and pieces of themselves into your drinks around springtime. There's also a recently revamped band room upstairs that hosts live music gigs most nights of the week and the occasional gallery exhibit. It also does trivia on a Monday night. However it looks like the deal is no longer, and instead Tuesday is $15 Porterhouse steak night. Cant complain - steak for $15 is reasonable. I got mine with mash which was nice and a bowl of stemed vegies (I swear I asked for Chips but perhaps the diet gods made the lass behind the counter mis-hear). The service is not the best (Downstairs - pub area) during my visit... but it is a lower cost venue so sometimes you cant expect too much. Steak was great however medium rare came out more rare so I didnt eat the middle part... I guess you get what you pay for eh!

There is two different types of atmosphere, the dining room stiff chair experience with a wonderful courtyard view and more attention from the wait staff, probably because of the easy line of site. Or you can choose for the booths along the wall, mostly hidden by a supporting wall that they've cut holes out of as much as possible. I prefer the booth. What you loose in service standard (in time only) you make up for in reduced noise, nicer ambience and seriously comfortable dining. It is true that you will have to work harder for attention but if you grew up with brothers and sisters I'm sure you'll be fine. Like many places in the Paris end of town this spot has a wonderful wine list and there's something good for everyone (from $47 to ~$1k) and most of the people there can help you with matching wine to your food.
