Fantastic delicious food, good service and prices not exorbitant. Repeat customer x 3 and they've never missed a beat.

We were warmly welcome when perusing the menu outside and opted for a table indoors. The staff were friendly, attentive and efficient. The decor is tasteful with black tables and solid white chairs. Their drinks menu is reasonable and we opted for a Pinot Noir and a Cab Sav, both of which were lovely. The food was delicious. We started with a dip - warm bread and three dips. We were offered more bread if we finished it before the dips, which we thought was a nice touch. For a main course, we chose a Paella Valencia and a risotto. There were three risottos available (chicken, duck & garlic prawn) and I went for the prawn. Servings were generous and the food was delicious. We couldn't get through it all and took our remainders home in Tupperware containers, offered by the table server. This being their first week, we were also offered complimentary desert, and we chose a slice of chocolate cake and ice cream. Divine. Nik@nicholson is the best new place to eat on this side of town. They're open from 8am and serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. We were really pleased with our night and it's earned a hearty recommendation.

The slow cooked lamb shoulder with beetroot relish was everything I hoped for and more when I ordered it. The dessert was great too. The decor felt clean and crisp without being over the top or too edgy. Just comfortable. I've paid three times as much as this place cost me and walked away half as happy. At $30 for a shared entree, two mains and two desserts it's almost foolhardy to want to be wowed but we were. I know it was a special, but the quality and value was astonishing, honestly. If I lived nearby, I'd be a regular regular, for sure. My partner and I came back a few weeks later to see if we just got lucky but they served up more of the same. Delicious Food. Reasonably priced. I paid an extra $5 to get rib-eye with my lunch-time special and I have to say it was the best steak I've had in a while. Perfectly cooked. The cook and the wait staff seem genuine and deserve to make a go of it. I have no idea how busy it is at dinner but at lunch it was great and it is on my repeat visit list for sure. It's not silver service, so don't be confused by the 5 star rating I gave it and expect linen table cloths etc, but this place is an absolute gem nonetheless.

When I first read about Bouvier Bar I was confused... it was consistently being described as a "New…read moreYork style" bar. What does that even mean? And upon visiting Bouvier, I became even more confused. If it reflected the style of any part of the world, it was certainly somewhere closer to Europe. So what is Bouvier Bar all about? In a nutshell, it's a fancy pants bar. You're not coming here to watch the footy or smash some craft beer tinnies. You're coming here for a crisp glass of chardonnay and perhaps some charcuterie. The fitout is gorgeous. Black and white tiled floors, a bar that takes up an entire wall and small, intimate, candlelit tables for two. It's a date venue through-and-through. On my visit I ordered one of their few cocktails - a blood orange margarita. What could go wrong? Unfortunately it was a shocker of a cocktail and despite NEVER having sent anything back in my 30 years on this earth, I had to on this occasion. All I could taste was cheap tequila. Freshly squeezed blood orange might be the way to go in future. I next went with a glass of prosecco (which was perfection) and shared a charcuterie platter with my partner. It was good but not as great as hoped, especially considering the owner is Adrian Richardson from La Luna - famous for their meats! We went on a Sunday afternoon and it was deathly quiet, but not surprising. Give Bouvier a few weeks and I am sure it will find it's feet. And hopefully some better blood orange juice.

Also it's too quite, it could've done with turning the music up. When a group of loud women came in and shouted a lot it also became apparent that it hasn't got much sound insulation. The atmosphere is good though and the bartender was very friendly. There beer selection on tap is poor. Only 4 beers in tap (Kirin, Little Creatures Pale Ale White Rabbit dark ale, Furfie) as well as a red and white on tap too. But there's more in the fridge. The menu looked good with some of tasty sounding share dishes. We only tried the pork dumplings and they were nice but not mind blowing basically because the dumplings had very little flavour but nice when combining with soy, chilli and coriander.

Service is great, the staff were really lovely and helpful. Many of the staff here also teach Spanish at the local language school where I study, which certainly speaks to their passion for bringing their local flavour to Melbourne. The menu is Latin American inspired small plates, so we ordered a couple of bites from the bar snacks portion to share as a group - beef shin empanadas, guacamole and chips, and polenta chips. All were tasty, the guac and chips were spot on and I particularly like the polenta chips as they were quite thin and crunchy rather than the chunky-burn-your-mouth out trying to eat it type. I'd come back and give dinner a go. I wasn't drinking so can't comment much on the booze available, but I did see that they do have happy hour specials going and mulled wine for winter. Probably somewhere I'd come more for a beer or margarita than a wine. They have a lot of shows and events here, their web site features a lot of fun Latin-American inspired music acts from mariachi bands to flamenco and Brazilian performers if you're looking for something more upbeat. If a boozy rowdy night is your style, I'd plan ahead for when something is happening or go on a Saturday night. If you're after a more chilled out spot to catch up with some friends, early weeknights are a good time to go.
