This review is long overdue. My mother was a patient of Dr. Mayorga in 2012-2013. My mother suffered from Dementia, though Dr. Mayorga never recognized that this was a possibility (she was diagnosed later in 2013 by J.B. Humphrey, M.D., finally). She put my mother through countless PHYSICAL tests, endoscopies, etc., when it was obvious that what my mother was suffering from was Dementia. After numerous falls, a broken arm, being incredibly overmedicated by Dr. Mayorga, countless visits to the E.R., I brought up a Hospice evaluation in an email to her. Her response: She's not there yet. The coldest, laziest response that you can get. I wound up moving my mother near me, and she received wonderful care from Dr. Humphrey, who was completely on board with a Hospice evaluation. Guess what...she more than qualified for Hospice after an evaluation in August of 2013, so late in the game. For a doctor to say, "She's not there yet," in April 2013, to my mother's death in October 2013, makes me sick to this day. She was there, Rachel. You call yourself a specialist in the elderly...I really hope for your patients in the last ten years since my mother's passing that you've finally gotten it together regarding Dementia and Hospice. Oh, one more note of coldness...my father was a patient of her's, too. He suffered from Alzheimer's. Dr. Mayorga found out that my mother had died, and she said absolutely nothing. No email of condolence to me, no condolences to my father. read more
