Mac's is a gas station and convenience store with a grill, and they typically serve breakfast and lunch items. Inside Mac's, there are a couple of tables and a food counter in addition to the beverage coolers and shelves of packaged food and other convenience items. On the food counter, you'll find a hot box of breakfast or lunch sandwiches (depending on the time of day) and other assorted items such as ribs, corn dogs and onion rings. My co-workers had recommended the cheeseburger and onion rings, but I was on this crazy respecting-my-gallbladder kick last week, so I only got the cheeseburger "all the way." "All the way" for Mac's turned out to be a ring of white onion, mustard, mayo, a tomato slice, and a piece lettuce. They bagged my burger up, and I headed back to my office, which is one block over. By the time I got to my office, the burger had greased through the bag as well as the paper in which it was wrapped, which is always an indicator of fine dining yet to come. I'd love to be able to say that I savored the complementary flavors of the cheeseburger toppings as they graced my palate, but the truth is: I grabbed this burger with both hands and devoured it in short order. The juicy burger, grilled bun, and crisp toppings plus a bag of Doritos were the perfect laid-back lunch for a Friday. If you are in need of a quick meal while downtown for business or a trip to the hospital, I recommend the cheeseburger at Mac's 1 Stop.

We always used to laugh at the marquee sign out front that said "fine wine and boiled peanuts"... the key to any south Alabama quality evening. And although I never tried the peanuts (i'm a bit of a boiled peanut snob), they actually did have a vast variety of wines. They also had a decent craft beer selection. Not great. But once again pretty good for a store this size. The staff is always friendly and once again very convenient for this side town. A great spot for a quick in and out if you are looking for convenience.

So this was one of the last places we could go to (and are now literally in pain trying to find another bathroom). I told her all this and she very rudely said okay and walked around to go unlock the bathroom. She puts the key in, jiggles it, and then walks away. I pull the door and it is still locked. We just left then because there was no getting anywhere with that situation. So, please patron somewhere else because that was just a rude, terrible experience, considering we even topped off our tank there to be nice and not just use the bathroom. I can understand not having the bathroom open because of sanitation reasons, but to pretend to unlock the door was just beyond unbelievable, especially considering that I had not been rude, or demanding, really just pleading. So go to the racetrac instead, it's just a little ways over and probably much cleaner than Murphy bathroom anyways.

The parking lot and pump area looks like it doesn't get regularly swept up and debris removed. The inside floors need a good sweep & mop as well. I visited in the morning hours, normally an overnight clean would still be looking good at this hour. Bathrooms were ok and the outside patio tables were clean but the ground is covered with cigarette butts. Maintenance might be an issue here. First pump I tried to use was out of commission. At the fountain drink station the cubed ice maker was not working and the soft drinks weren't being carbonated at all. The employee at the counter was friendly.

It is incredibly clean, well lit, and still has the lowest prices in town. This location is easily located right off 65. Air is $1.50 for four minutes, but the best part is that you can pay with your debit or credit card (in addition to quarters). You just plug in the PSI for your tires, start pumping, and the machine will beep at you when the tire is full. Very convenient and easy! I'll definitely go here every time I need air in my tires! No more searching for the elusive air pump!

The coffee station is impressive too, with so many creamers, flavors, and toppings that you can customize your drink just the way you like it. I also loved the fresh roasted nuts--warm pecans, cashews, and other varieties that smelled amazing and tasted fresh. The store itself is huge and well organized, making it easy to browse without feeling crowded. As an EV owner, I was especially happy that I could charge my Ford F-150 Lightning while taking a break.
