I live near this store and depend upon it. Most of the time it is fine though expensive except one…read morecan buy small packages. The staff is helpful and friendly. I enjoy the staff even the overnight curmudgeon who complaints a lot but who is really a fine fellow. There are a few problems as might be expected from a 24/7 operation. At night the store seems routinely locked as the associate works in the cold storage, refrigerated section where he cannot monitor the operation or manage the cash registers. The locked status seems to run at least an hour but sometimes longer. If you are hungry this is a problem. They do not post times of closure. Apparently, associates are not allowed to post signs the store is closed even when it is locked down. I have sometimes had a problem with rotten or rotting food on display in one unit where maintaining cooling seems difficult. Bread mold is not pleasant. The boiled eggs are often frozen and fall apart in a watery mess but are good when they are fresh and firm. The fresh fruit is very expensive but I appreciate being able to have it offered. Many times there is no coffee brewed though they say they will brew coffee on demand. Most but not all the coffee is basic and often bad tasting but sometimes it is high end and delightful. They sell grilled hot dogs but generally feature ones with high calories. Apparently, lower calorie hot dogs leave liquid cheese that is hard for the associates to clean. They seem to avoid using those lower calorie wieners. I avoid this store during late night because of the uncertainty of it being open. They do seem to have problems with theft by crooks just walking in and taking items, which must frustrate associates. The turnover in staff seems pervasive. Except for the curmudgeon, the staff including managers changes frequently. They like customers are enduing our commercial culture at its brutal base. Either real underaged people for stooges haunt the place. They want you to buy cigarettes for them. Customers leave a lot of trash at the bus stop next door or on the sidewalks near the store. I don't think people like working there. I would not want the job but I do think those who work there regularly try to do a good job. You do, however, have to watch your tab because some clerks are not careful to clear the register before charging customers. I understand this because the job looks extraordinarily boring and the pay must be low. Some associates have been well educated with graduate degrees and knowledge about art and literature. I worry about associates being murdered.

I have been a loyal Circle K customer in Baton Rouge for over a decade. I have been known to shop…read moreat Circle K several times in one day. It's been an ongoing joke with my friends that If I were to stop shopping at Circle K then I would be quite rich. My longterm relationship with Circle K ended today on Friday September 18 at 7:20 p.m. We've all had our fair share of customer service workers that shouldn't be in customer service but this certain Circle K employee takes the cake. Not only is he rude to the customers of Circle K, it's obvious that he has created his own employee handbook and his own Circle K rules and regulations. To top it all off, he definitely does not like when he is told that he is wrong, because he thinks he knows everything. Maybe he does in the rules and regulations that he imagines in his mind, but Circle K needs to reinforce with him Circle K's actual rules and regulations. I have witnessed numerous times that he has expressed his disdain for the Circle K company. Now I hear that he is wanting to manage his own store. I would hope that Circle K would screen him further and realize that he does NOT need to be in customer service. After I educated him very politely that he was incorrect in his decision making and that every other Circle K in town did it a different way, the correct way, he was not happy with me at all. I was asked to leave the store. I did nothing wrong but share my knowledge by being a Circle K customer for over a decade. This child was not born when I first started shopping at circle K. He has no respect for his elders and to make matters worse he then called the police to have me removed from the store. If I would have been screaming at him or stealing something from the store or causing harm to someone then I would understand calling the police. However having an adult conversation and pointing out his ignorance and lack of knowledge for this particular situation, it did not justify asking me to leave or calling the police and furthermore not even letting me purchase the 2 fountain drinks that were already in my hands. They were thrown in the trash. Bad attitude, being unnecesssarily rude to customers, the lack of knowledge for Circle K's rules are all reasons that this employee, Kedarious is his name, should not be considered for management but should be terminated as an employee of Circle K on Jefferson Hwy at Lobdell. He thinks that since he is a Circle K employee that he is next in line for the Presidency of the U.S. What little power that he has been given by working the register at a Circle K has gone straight to his head and he needs to be reminded that the only reason he has a job at Circle K is because of the customers that continue to shop in the stores. Customers like me that have been shopping in the stores year after year. I strongly suggest that CircleK NOT give him a management position in any of their stores. The stores sales will plumet and he will be the cause of that. I strongly suggest terminating his employement with the Circle K company or at least find him a more suitable role that does NOT deal with customers.
