I didn't want to be silly about it though, so decided to take a trip to Discount Drug Stores. It's not particularly near me, but I'd dropped my partner off at work (I know, I'm a fantastic girlfriend) and this was between there and home. Plus there's a Woolworths Express (is that what they're called?) next door. Alright so, first off, it's bigger than it looks on the outside. So as I ventured toward the back of the TARDIS the lady at the counter asked me what I was after. She was nice, friendly, informative, and just the right amount of sympathy. I walked out with a 60 pack of Aspro Clear and some Betadine throat gargle for around $15. I was definitely happy with the whole experience. OH plus there's parking out front.

Bought some Arnica cream, when i got home and opened the jar the inner safty seal came adrift. Took…read moreit back the next day and got treated like it was my fault, and after some coming and going behind the scenes I was granted a fresh Jar from the shelf. I opened the jar and noticed that the lid was a lot tighter than the last one, good I thought untill on opening the security seal came free on its own...I inquired as to the security of this product that seems comprised....The reply was it must be just the batch and that was that. No concern here. So my next transaction was some medicine with reg 24 on the script which means the all the repeats can be despensed at once. As i was visiting Maleny for a couple of weeks, I only required enough to cover my stay as I had plenty of my medicine back at home. The Chemist refused to supply the smaller choice, saying that was the rule. Wrong Mr Chemist.... Just google PBS 24 Reg. It shows that it is flexable. We argued... not pleasant. I had to get in touch with my dr who sent me a script omitting the reg24. Later I found the Amcal Chemist at the Riverside Centre next time.

I'm sure they must get busy at some point, but it's never too crazy out there, so no waiting to be served and the staff were all lovely. I usually drop in if I am killing time in the are because there is always something I can pick up whether it is sun-cream, make up or lip balm. They are not a huge store and do not have the gift range that you see at a lot of other chemists but there is a fair bit to look at and all the necessities. Plus it is easy to access with a car park a couple of shops down.

Although they do not righteously call themselves a discount chemist, they do offer many reputable brands at very low prices. It's not a very big chemist, but it is always full stocked and has all the popular items. Customer service is pretty good. There aren't that many customers at this chemist, so prescription service is quite fast. Also because there is no big queue behind me, the pharmacist and I have time to chat about the medication. This personal customer service is the reason I return. They have the time to genuinely help out and give you the advice. They're so kind and helpful here, I recommend this chemist for anyone in the area.

It's been a saviour many times when I've had a mega cold/flu and run out of tissues or Codral after hours. There's ample parking in this complex of shops, so points for convenience. It always feels a bit expensive here for anything other than medicines, so if I'm wanting toiletries, I'd prefer to visit Coles or Woolies. They do stock MOR products - hand and body creams and lovely scented reed diffusers, as well as a big range of nail polishes, which grab my attention every time.

The staff are all helpful, friendly and knowledgable. The shop itself is quite cluttered. They sell a lot of products, and it's jammed right in. If the place is busy expect multiple queues to weave between the product islands, and you'll probably find yourself wondering where the heck to stand while waiting for your prescription. The plus side, they probably have what you need. Which is exactly what I need in a chemist, not large, wide, open walkways. There's parking right out front, but don't expect to easily be able to turn right and northbound onto Sandgate Road if you're there around peak hour.

But we got what we needed and as far as what chemists do, they did it well. I'd suggest if you need a few things so want to go to a shopping centre then this is a good choice to make. Generally quite quiet, can get a park up this end of the shops without too much trouble and they have a good range.

I noticed this when buying medication and paying nearly twice as much for the same thing, same size and brand. When it's busy you can wait a good while to pay, usually only one counter open, but generally not too long a wait to get seen down at the business end. There's another chemist down the other end of the centre, so you can always try your luck there for prices.

This is particularly true given its location (the hip Oxford Street). You would expect something flash and new. This has the vibe of a pharmacy from about ten years ago, where the products are all related to medical issues, not impulse buying. (Eerie.) If you're ordering something on script or that needs a label, you might wait a while here. There's usually at least one other person in this pharmacy waiting for their product to be "written up", and that's enough to add ten minutes onto your wait. I almost want to complain about having to wait but the staff are simply too nice. You can easily chat with the counter staff and wile away the time, though if someone's parked on the street waiting for you to "duck in and out" they might not be so happy. The size of the pharmacy means the products tend to be average in terms of price, so I wouldn't look for a cheap deal here.
