If your hiring an attorney on retainer , chances are its because something is happening that is important, something you need help with because your facing something that is impacting your life and can potentially change the future for your family. Anything dealing with the law is complex and often very scary, the language used is confusing and not necessarily something you can interpret on your own. Over the years I have dealt with so many attorneys for many different reasons. For the most part I've had decent representation but I found that after the initial consultation was over and the retainer was paid, my lawyer usually disappeared behind a closed door . I found most future communications then happened with the lawyers secretary. In the past I had to find out how my case was progressing from the secretary who usually could not answer my questions and would often say "I'll have to get back to you". To hire an attorney who is smart, is a great communicator who personally returns all his own calls has been a wonderful relief.
