I will admit from the outset Lebanese is not my favourite cuisine but I do love fresh food & good…read moreservice and this joint has both in ABUNDANCE. in fact the service is GREAT. Now lets get the look of the place out of the way. A sparkling clean takeaway with tables. Upmarket kebab shop would about cover it. It also had gas heaters which were welcome. Lastly, but definitely not least, the food was Great with a capital G. Fresh, plentiful & heaps of flavour. The platters large & full of tempting tasties. (We ordered #1 & #7 on the platters menu) Both came with fresh Pita, tabbouli & really good, strong flavoured dips. #1 included a selection of rolls & pastries. #7 was a choice of chicken or lamb. No room for sweets but I was tempted. Next time. And there will be a next time. Will definately go again ... for the SERVICE alone. He was lovely.

Truly Brisbane's best kept secret!…read more Firstly, this is not a fine dining establishment, it's more like a take away shop with outdoor (street side) seating, but don't let that put you off! The food & service more than makes up for what this place lacks in ambiance. The (who we believe to be) owner is incredibly friendly, patient & helpful, happy to explain each dish and make recommendations. He's also quick with a joke & loves to have a chat, giving excellent personal service. We'd gone here on a Living Social voucher, and were wary as past voucher experiences had been a bit hit & miss. At Ba'Albek however, we were treated the same as all the other diners. The voucher entitled us to the Banquet off the menu, usually reserved for 4 people, a selection of 8 tapas style dishes & 2 meat skewers each, followed by coffee & baklava. To say the food was delicious would be an understatment, it was amazing! The hommus & falafel were the best I've ever eaten, and the rest of the dishes were an impressive assortment of new experiences. So fresh & full of flavour, kudos to the chef. And there was just so much of it, we were willing to forego the coffee & desert, but the owner insisted we take the baklava home & we were so glad he did, it was absolutely divine, melt-in-your-mouth good! Do yourselves a favour, eat here!

I was craving middle eastern food while visiting my parents and when my god-parents wanted to have…read morelunch one day I suggested we go and have a middle eastern meal. My god-mother's friend suggested King Ahiram. The place is just a take-out place with an adjoining room with tables and chairs where you can have a "sit-down" meal. So we ended up ordering a selection of items. I don't know. I am used to going to Little Arabia for my middle eastern food here in southern California and my favorite place in Brisbane is Nono's and omg.... the food here was kinda on the dismal side. I felt really bad that my parents and god-parents had to sit through a different cuisine which I've been touting as so fabulously delicious only to be faced with really sub-par Mediterranean food. We had falafels, hummus, babaghanoush, kebabs, these crescent pastry things which looked like empanadas -- everything was mediocre at best. The meat was dry, the dips needed more olive oil.... falafels were hard as rocks. Tabouleh was flavorless. I never heard the end of it after the meal, even from my son who is an avid fan of this cuisine. We are definitely going back to Nono's next time.

King Ahiram was always a popular option among my uni friends when we needed a quick, cheap meal…read more The funny thing was that nobody actually knew what this place was called because the most prominent words on the sign are CAFE LEBANESE FOOD. It's only when you really take notice that you see King Ahiram's name on there. So yeah, until I paid closer attention when I decided to review it, this place was always known to me and everyone I know as 'the Lebanese place'. I guess the point I'm making is that at a place like this the name is unimportant. The food is tasty, cheap, and a bit on the greasy side so it ticks all the boxes for hungry youths. I wouldn't go here expecting a gourmet meal, but for the prices and the convenience it's worth munching on a felafel kebab or cabbage roll. 'The Lebanese place' might not be fit for a King despite its namesake, but it's definitely fit for a starving student.

Had a lovely night out with my two children. We had 5 Mezze plates- Haloumi, Boureks, Felafel,…read moreMeatballs, and Cauliflower. Everything came with 4 serves on each plate- this was plenty of food for the 3 of us for dinner. The flavours were excellent and the presentation was impressive. I love the hand made ceramic dishes they were served on. We sat outside and had the heater on, and they brought blankets- it was lovely and cosy. It's a beautiful restaurant to look at. Social distancing is in place, so a little wait when you first arrive, as people sign in. I had a Turkish Delight Martini- which was pretty good. I would definitely return anytime.

It wasn't exciting as I had hoped as people were telling me how they love to tear off the pieces of the bread with their pizza. The pizza is quite long but just really lacked flavor. I didn't think the chicken was spiced at all and I could have had more tahini sauce. The lamb soup was filled to the brim with chickpeas so that was slightly disappointing as well. I think that I need to order the chicken pie next time so hopefully my order choice will be better next time. My gals love this place so I definitely think we'll be back and I hope I will like my dish better. You can't split the bill here and if you're lucky, you may even get some card tricks performed at your table. :)
