I scheduled a boiler service appointment on April 3 and was given a date three weeks out due to seasonal demand, which was understandable. The appointment was set for a Friday between 12-5 PM. On the scheduled day, I called to confirm timing and was told a technician or dispatch would contact me prior to arrival. After waiting several hours without any communication, I followed up and was asked to reschedule for the following Monday between 10 AM-2 PM. I agreed, assuming delays were due to a busy schedule. On Monday, I again waited without receiving a call or visit. At 2:15 PM, I contacted dispatch and was told a technician would reach out shortly. As of the following day, I had still not received any communication or service. This experience involved two missed appointments and required multiple schedule adjustments on my end. Based on this, I DO NOT recommend this company for any services. read more

I have been a customer since moving into the area 8 years ago. This last encounter was extremely disappointing. The blower motor stopped working on our HVAC System on February 20th of this year. Their techs came out and told us that our system is old, over 20 years old, and it would be very difficult to find a motor if at all. They then proceeded to quote us a new system replacement which they could install in 3 days. We asked them to order a new motor instead and placed a 400.00 deposit. They quoted us 2500.00 to replace the motor. This past winter was one of the coldest winters we have had with weeks of near 0 degrees. We had no heat except for space heaters. We received no updates from Poust in between our calls requesting status. We finally received a call 6 weeks later that the part was finally in. We had no heat for 6 weeks which they had no care about. We called a different company at week 5 and they were able to get a motor and install in 3 days. It is now July and so far no issues. Also for half the price. I don't understand how they could treat a customer in such a manner. Because we decided to not install a 20,000 HVAC system? No checking in, nothing. A shame, and they kept my 400.00 deposit. The least they could have done is return it after such a fiasco. Awful. read more

This company USED to be wonderful. I believe the original owner sold. I had my furnace and AC serviced beginning of April. When we had hot spell last week my AC didn't work. When I called EACH time I was told my call back was a priority and someone would call me back that call never came. Finally they sent a tech out. The tech that serviced didn't put a piece back on outside unit. I called to speak with a manager again was told my call back was put in as a priority still have heard back. I asked person on phone if they were an answering service and he said they were out sourced. In the past you would speak to a wonderful girl that was very helpful. Will NOT use them again. They will probably be out of business soon. People will not tolerate such bad customer service read more

We had our furnace and AC replaced in May 2025. Our bill was paid in full within a month. We bought a VIP service for one year. They came out in the fall to set us up to start the furnace. No major problems. We requested them to come in April 2026. The service rep found a broken switch and a broken UV bulb in the AC. The paper work said there was a problem at installation. Poust said the switch was covered under warranty and it would be ordered. We were told the bulb was our responsibility at a cost of $2,000.00. We have been calling and asked to speak to a Supervisor. We have been assured our 6 calls would be forwarded to management but they were not returned. . . read more

To replace my 40-gallon hot water heater tank, the R. Poust Heating and Air Conditioning technician quoted me all-inclusive estimate of $4,825. It included a three-year parts and labor warranty. Two other outfits gave me similar all-inclusive estimates, for $1,950 and $2,014 -- both well less than half the above quote. I went for the latter because it was with Home Depot and included a 12-year warranty -- four times longer than R. Poust's. I also paid $125 to R. Poust for a tech to come to my home and quote me that price. If I selected them for this job, they would have credited me that outlay. The lesson here is, get multiple estimates -- and you can get them without paying for someone to come to your home. That latter lesson cost me $125. But it was clearly worth it. BTW, once my new hot water heater was installed, the final cost was exactly what they quoted me. Not one penny more. read more

Not Very satisfied as they dug a whole to find out where a leak was and charged me 1200.00 then when they found it. They left me without water and told me that they would come back on a Monday to repair, but instead I got an estimate for an additional 1200.00 to repair and refill the whole they left. I was not even given a call to explain. The fault turned out to be caused by a poor job that they did originally. Their work does not last. I would not recommend this company as they are out only to get money and price gouge their customers and leave you without water so that you have no choice but to have them fix it at their elevated price. Our HVAC system failed about a week after we bought our house in October 2024. Poust recommended and installed a heat pump. We thought it would be more efficient than propane. This company has no integrity and accountability. If you're considering using R. Poust, just know you may be buying into short-term solutions that will cost you significantly in the long run--with little to no support when something goes wrong. They are only interested in upselling faulty & cheap equipment that is bound to break down much sooner than they promise. Don't trust the contracts they sign either- they will not honor it. We've used R. Poust for pretty much everything in our home: HVAC, water systems, electrical work. So, when they recommended their "top-of-the-line" water softener, we trusted their service. The unit was marketed as maintenance free; it's able to retain programming even during power outages.(Beyond adding salt routinely) Not even a year into owning it, the screen shut off entirely--no notice, no warning. It took us a couple months to realize it was shut down- we only noticed when we called R.Poust for a furnace issue. By then, our 1-year warranty had expired by 3 months. R. Poust came to look at the unit and told us that the screen was broken. Rather than standing behind the product they sold us, they quoted nearly $1,000 to replace a single, small screen--with zero willingness to offer alternatives or acknowledge any accountability. When I referenced the 25-year manufacturer warranty listed on the receipt, they claimed the parts were provided out of "courtesy". This is ridiculous, since the contract states a 25-year warranty for the unit. It was very disappointing to see R.Poust, a company we once had faith in, sell faulty, unreliable appliances at high prices. + Not only did I have the issue with the water softener, but we had the same issue with them providing a quote to replace our furnace. Granted, we do have a very old furnace that should be replaced in the future, but as of now, it's still fully functioning. They came by, and condemned the furnace because "it's no longer functioning and safe". They showed us a photo showing a high level of carbon monoxide. They quoted a large amount of money to replace it. Afterwards, we bought two carbon monoxide alarms, which never went off- not in our house, not in our crawlspace (where the furnace is), and not even in the air ducts. Then, we called our local HVAC guy, and we were told it's not an issue until the furnace shuts down, or our carbon monoxide alarm goes off. To this day, our CO monitor hasn't gone off, and it's been showing levels of 0.0ppm. read more

Then proceeded to say it would be more money because they would have to take my walls apart. so I asked for ductless ac / mini splits. just sent me a price for 4 mini splits 27000.00 dollars. R Poust are the biggest crooks you will ever meet! They charge double or triple more than any service in the area. They rip off everybody they service. I'm not sure who's running the company now, but they are money hungry and will nickel and dime you. I tend to report them to the BBB and will call the company I know that they purchased their parts from to sell to us customers and let them know that the type of business R Poust is running out here using their products. In my experience last year, we had a 200 foot well pump and pressure tank installed for $7800!! It broke within a year and they were acting like the new price they were going to do to fix it of $3200 was a good deal - they said it was labor costs and decided it broke the first time because it was hit by lightning and "lighting isn't covered under warranty but they would let it be and cut us 'this deal'"! I posted the story on a town Facebook page I'm a part of and my post essentially went viral with people saying how bad we got ripped off. I called six different companies in the area that people were recommending and each of these companies would do the same work obviously as a new company for less than Poust was charging under warranty! I would also like to add that the new company who installed our well pump showed us the pressor tank that was sold to us as brand new with a September 2022 date in it. Used R Poust for a warranty replacement of my water heater since they installed the existing one. The cost to simply remove and install seemed high ($3800) but agreed to it because it was urgent. Checked with other plumbers afterwards and found out I was charged more than 2-3x what others would have done the work for. They did a decent job but I probably won't be using them again. read more

This company was one of the worst experiences I have dealt with. I scheduled an appointment to service my gas furnace and to also get a quote to replace the entire system within the near future. I was given a 4-hour window to which no one ever showed up, nor did they call or give any reason. I called and spoke with a manager who was apologetic and stated he thought he called me to say no one was coming. I rescheduled the appointment to the following week and was once again given a 4-hour window for a technician to arrive. No one showed up that day either, nor did they give a courtesy call or try to contact me in any way. I have not even bothered to contact this joke of a company again and have instead went with Jack Frost Heating & Cooling who arrived at my home very promptly and serviced my furnace without issue. Steer clear of this absolute garbage company with even worse customer service. I should send them a bill for wasting a total of over 16 hours of my time (I gave them a 8-hour window instead of the 4 I was told). read more

Technician shows up and quotes over $800!! and claims the $125 quoted over the phone was their "diagnostic fee" and not the cost of the work. Takes his check for $125 and leaves without doing a thing. Based on reviews here this is not uncommon at this company. Was told I'd receive a call today to discuss our concerns and shocker, nothing. Prices are astronomical in comparison to the quote we received down the road. Over double the cost of a competitor. Your prices are your prices. These guys are absolute crooks! I wanted a mini split unit installed in my house. The guy came and within 10 mins gave the estimate which was $13,000!!!!!! Another company came and told me $6,500, really nice kid too. It was Jack Frost company. Then a 3rd guy gave me estimate of $5,600 to install the same Fujitsu brand that these crooks said would cost $13,000! I went with the $6,500 and the mini split is amazing! Terrible. Perhaps the most unprofessional experience that I have encountered in decades of working with contractors. I had worked with R. Poust twice previously on boiler maintenance, and they performed fine. On this occasion, I set an appointment for an estimate for winterizing my house. It took 4 weeks to get the appointment. On the appointment date, the technican arrived an hour late. When he arrived, he walked through my house, took pictures, and sent the pictures to their offices. Their offices then provided a quote to winterize my home. I accepted the quote. The next day we electronically signed a contract to winterize my house, and I put a 25% deposit down. We scheduled a 4 hour window on the service date the next week. So far everything was fine. On the service date, I drove over an hour to the house and waited for the technican(s) to arrive. No one arrived during the 4 hour window. I called their offices to reschedule/complain because I wasted 6 hours of my time. The Poust manager that I spoke to made an apology, and we rescheduled the winterization for the next week. The next week, the same thing happened again - another no-show. I called and demanded to speak to the person in charge. That person told me that R Poust is not in the business of home winterization, and they will not be performing these services. In summary, over two months, they led me along, scheduled three winterization appointments, provided a written estimate to winterize my house, drafted and executed a signed contract, collected 25% of the cost, and then decided that they would not provide the service. They wasted 3 days of my life, and every day I am losing money heating a house I don't live in while I scramble for another provider. They don't seem to know what services they provide and don't care about their reputation or customer's time. I will never use them again. read more

Posting here bc they took down my review on Google: My husband called them in August to give us a price quote for converting to natural gas and we made an appointment for them to come out in September. We told them the gas company had not yet run the line to the house but had submitted the permits to do so. The morning of the appointment my husband called to ask what time they were coming since I took the day off to wait for them and they tell my husband that since the line wasn't run yet they would not come out. Not sure why they couldn't come out since the conversion happens for the interior of the house and we explicitly told them the exterior line was not yet run. That was strike one. I was annoyed since I took off from work but we figured we would give them the benefit of the doubt and have them come out after the line was run. I called them today to have a plumber come fix a toilet tank that was not filling with water. The issue seemed to be a defective toilet fill valve, which costs $20 at Lowe's. Guy comes to look at it - he was very smart and knowledgeable - I wish I got his name to compliment him! That was where the positives ended. He suggested a full toilet "rebuild" (changing anything and everything that could be changed in the tank and the pipes below it). He also suggested that rebuild for a perfectly working toilet that occasionally whistles. He then says that he has to go back out to his car to "build the quote" at which point he calls the company to tell them what has to be done to get pricing. I see on the cameras that he gets out of his car and goes to the side of the house. He comes back in and tells me he was thinking about the whistling toilet and checked the water pressure on the exterior spigot and it was on 80 (literally the perfect amount of pressure for a house) and he said that this actually was dangerous because at night it goes higher since no one is flushing and pressure builds and that's not good if it is too high at night, which he assumes it is going to. So he wanted to check the water main to make sure we had a pressure reducing valve. We had one but he said he thought the whole thing needed to be replaced because it must not be working right since we are hearing whistling from that one toilet sometimes. Also he says he noticed the spigot had a small leak which told him the pipe probably burst and may leak in the house. So at this point he needed to go back to his car to call and update the quote to include replacing the pressure reducing valve and the pipe for the spigot. He comes in with an iPad and very salesman-like tells me each thing that needs to be changed and shows me a quote of $2,600 ($500 for each bathroom "rebuild," $1,000 for the pressure relieving valve, and a few hundred for the spigot pipe). I told him that was absurd, especially considering this is a new built house that is only 9 years old. I ask if he can just change the bathroom fill valve and we will think on the rest. He says he can do the rebuild on just that one bathroom but that they won't insure the work because he detected a pressure issue - totally not true since the pressure was at 80, which is the exact pressure the house should be at. I tell him if they won't insure the work there is no way I would use them and he asks me what I feel comfortable paying. I told him for all the work I would pay $2,000 - which I also thought was absurd. I also reminded him that we were planning on doing the conversion to natural gas with them, which is ~$6,000-10,000 so there was opportunity to make money again on that deal. He says he has to go back out to call the company again. He comes in and says "HQ won't budge on the price" but that if I sign up for their VIP membership plan at $20 per month, I can get 10% off and bring the cost down to $2,248. I tell him that is ridiculous - they cancel on us the first appointment and then this time come price gouge us and not even be flexible to knock off any amount. So I tell him I would never call them again and would use someone else. Buyer beware - these are not honest people! read more

My HVAC SmartHub malfunctioned 6 months back. They requested me to replace it and I did, with a payment of $ 1700. Now, even though it's under warranty period, that SmartHub malfunctioned again. I requested for a technician's visit. But, I have been stood up twice in two successive days, claiming the technician was busy and he could not come. Wasn't sure about using Poust for electrical as they are known for plumbing. When James came out for the quoting process he was very thorough to ensure he knew what we wanted and how he was going to go about it. We were presented several options to choose from. Once work was started James kept me updated during the day on progress. He was very organized and professional. At the end, he made sure we were satisfied before leaving. The only reason they can rob us blind and stay in business is because big businesses hire them for jobs and they don't know or care that they being overcharged. Terrible ! Came home no heat Furnace around 4 years old bought and installed by Poust. Furnace serviced this fall. I bought the VIP plan. I called Poust at 6:45 pm and gave the guy all my information.I was told a technician would call me within 20 minutes. At 9:00 pm I called back and told Gina no one called me and she said no one is coming. The next day I call Poust and asked for a manager This guy said he works with the manager so I told him what happened and he said it wasn't their fault because they hire 3rd party people to answer the phone after hours. I couldn't believe that is what he told me. That isn't my problem.. My problem was I had no heat and waited 2 hours for a technician to call me back. All he had to do was tell me no one was coming. At 9pm I called Smith's heating and he was there in 30 minutes and I never did any business with them. Once Poust was sold you can see the decline. Ever time they come over they just want to sell you more stuff. They lost a good customer and every person I can tell how bad this company became . read more

Riddiculous! I've booked them to come over to check my newly installed Heat Pump /AC, they've booked me for 4 days later. The day before the appointment I receive all the emails and texts of confirmation. The day of, I receive a call from them saying they've got hold up on a job and can't come. The first available appointment they schedule me is 14 days later.... I've lost 1 day of work to stay at home waiting for them. The day before the 2nd appointment, I receive email and texts confirmations.. The day of, I receive a phone call saying they got held up on a job and can't come, adding that they don't take new customers and won't come anymore, nor reschedule it. Bottom line, I've lost 2 days of work waiting for therm and 20 days waiting while I could have simply call someone else. Awfull behaviour, totally unprofessional and inconsiderate! If there was a 0 star I would have chose that. All the good reviews they have must be fake. read more
